Yes we won the league, but did we dominant force in England? It is very important question for future especially after sir Alex announced his retirement. Will we win any silverware nest season or after that?

Scholes was world class but in his last 2 or 3 years he couldn’t play week in week out so as Giggs. Then we left only one class player in central midfield is Carrick. Cleverley played a decent season, yet he still has lot to prove. If Carrick was injured during the last season could we still won the league? I think no we couldn’t. We have three wingers Young, Nani n Valencia. Among three Nani is most complete winger we have imo. He can destroy any defense on his day, but he is way too inconsistent and I think he already played his last game for united. We can’t analyse our winger s performance because there isn’t any performance at all. Welbeck played a lot of games on wing so it tells the inconsistency of our wingers (he played as winger due to some injuries as well). After Swansea match I think finishing of Ferdinand is far better than welbeck n Valencia. Only Young was consistent not in his performance but in his injuries. He injured for 2 months after every 3 or 4 games he played lol. After all this nonsense my question is why he won the league? Because our stickers scored so many goals especially RVP, or City n Chelsea performed below par or because of Sir Alex? I think every factor involved but more importantly Sir Alex because simply he knows how to win the league and unfortunately he will not with us any more :(

After every year or two some oil rich billionaire bought a club like Chelsea, City, PSG, Malaga and now Monaco. I won’t be supervised if some other random billionaire will buy the club next summer or after that. SAF talked about many time transfer market value but I think it won’t be decrease; it only will increase year after year. We can’t compete with City n Chelsea and other rich clubs in bidding war. Many fans think we still can attract players due to our history and unfortunately guys nobody cares about our history current example is Lucas or may be Hazard as well. My friends it is not 90s’ any more it is 2013 and we have to accept this bitter truth. The sooner we will accept it the better we will be. we didn't play according to our standers but we still won the league that's the positive sigh or we have to be very careful because it won't be happened in future we we played like last season. May be Im thinking too much negative here and u guys can disagree with me but to be very honest Im very worried about United’s future, we need to spend every year not on average players but the players who can impact immediately like RVP did last season.

RIP Brian Greenhoff

United legend from the 70s.

This is going to get ugly quick, there's no quotes from the player so there's no real foundation to it yet but then the papers seemed to know Rooney had made a request before Fergie came out and confirmed it.

According to the article, Rooney is adamant he has never handed in a formal request.... Although that's not to say he hasn't informally asked to leave. Why would Fergie come out and say he had...

The bit about swapping Wazza for Joe Hart made me laugh...

If he wants to leave then we should sell him to the highest bidder outside of the Premier League and not make him stay. I don't want to see another scripted interview on MUTV where he's pledging his allegiance and doesn't actually want to be here.

Standards slipping?? If you admire English football it is high time to ask some serious questions of it.

Manchester United, Uefa's 15th-best team based on 2012-13 coefficients, have just strolled to the Premier League title. They earned more points than their 1999 predecessors but you will not find many people claiming Cleverley, Valencia and Jones are better than Keane, Beckham and Stam."

COMMENT By Peter Staunton

Full piece where those quotes came from can be read here:- ttp://www.goal.com/en-india/news/2292/editorials/2013/05/22/3996454/soulless-and-self-serving-premier-league-must-face-up-to?source=breakingnews&ICID=HP_HL_1

The failure of English sides, seems to be universally claimed by most sports journalists and pundits in terms of lack of progression in Europe and general standard of play throughout the EPL.

Is this just a blip or are we on a downward slide in general? and in particular pertaining to us, is our emphasis (with a few notable exceptions) in the transfer market of specialising in young players with potential, rather than buying more of the finished article (like RvP, a notable exception) hurting our own progression now in the CL?

It seemed as if the reason that under-lied our perplexing refusal to weigh into the transfer market over some preceding seasons to strengthen midfield had more to do with SAF expecting that improvement to come through the young players we'd got with "potential" which doesn't really appeared to have happened through these seasons, rather, than the peculiar suggestion that was put forward that there was only 'one' truly gifted individual out there that could improve our side and that, that player was unattainable.

Surely over the last few seasons there were many players that would have improved on what we had, and if as was always said the money was there and the manager was backed, you would have thought that it wouldn't have been out of reach of such a big Club as ours to be able to resolve this?

If we continue our main trend of buying mainly players with potential, in this transfer window, is that going to improve our play, our UEFA rating and give us the ability to win the CL next season? Thoughts?

5 Years ago today

5 years ago today , This happened..

The Premier League distributes its TV money in a way that sees half of the total cash from the domestic deals divided equally between the member clubs, and all of the overseas broadcasting income also split equally.

A further 25% of domestic TV income is split as merit money depending where each club finishes in the final league table, and the final 25% paid in 'facility fees' for each time a club's matches are shown on television in the UK.

For that reason, Arsenal and Tottenham both earned more than Chelsea despite finishing below their capital rivals in the table because both the north London sides appeared in more live TV games.

Under the 2010-13 deal, which expired this season, each club received a £13.8million equal share each season plus £18.9million from overseas rights.

Clubs were further guaranteed a minimum of £5.78million for live TV and highlights appearances.

Manchester United earned the most from these facility fees, totalling £12.9million from 25 live appearances.

The three clubs relegated from the top flight earned the least amount, with Wigan Athletic getting £40.8m, Reading £40m and Queens Park Rangers £39.8m.

Some £88million was paid out in parachute payments to clubs relegated over the last three seasons.

TV revenue totals:
Man Utd £60.8m, Man City £58.1m, Arsenal £57.1m, Tottenham £55.8m, Chelsea £55m, Liverpool £54.8m, Everton £51.7m, West Ham £48.7m, West Brom £48.3m, Swansea £47.6m, Norwich £46.1m, Fulham £45.3m, Newcastle £45.1m, Aston Villa £44.9m, Stoke £44.5m, Southampton £43.8m, Sunderland £43.4m, Wigan £40.8m, Reading £40m, QPR £39.8m.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11667/8725875/Premier-League-Manchester-United-top-TV-earners-with-record-60-8million

_________________________________________________

No real surprise here, we're on the tele all the time and won the league so it's no shock to see us top the list.

But I got thinking a little more about the new TV deal that starts next season and how much extra money United (or any other club for that matter) could have at their disposal without any doing of their own. I did a quick bit of adding up and based on the information that I could find about how much next season's TV deal is worth and using the above payments as a guide (%age of overal pot paid to each club) so it won't be totally accurate, but I worked out that next season Champions will earn roughly £95m next season.

And let's say we have a poorer season and take roughly Arsenal's share of the current pot next year, that would still be worth high 80s, possibly £90m. Still a massive increase on this year when we won the league, so without changing anything else at the club, that's an additional £30m at least that United could wipe out with additional wages and the amortisation of players' registrations.

To add some context to that, let's say Ronaldo cost £60m and we give him a 4 year deal, we could pay him £288,000 a week without any impact whatsoever on the level of profit we'd have from this season. The initial cash in the bank will be there to finance the actual buy because United tend to pay transfer fees in installments but even if they don't, there should still be more than enough cash available, so the buy could happen before we think about the above accounting costs.
Please note I'm not saying we will, should or are going to sign Ronaldo, I'm using him as a high profile example of what this money means.

Perhaps even more startling - based on the percentage of the overall pot QPR earnt this season finishing bottom both in the league and in the payments, the team coming bottom next season will earn north of £62m a couple of million more than we've received this season for winning the bloody thing.

Crazy money!

Thiago Alcantara is available.

http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20130515/fc-barcelona/barca-dispuesto-escuchar-ofertas-thiago-alcantara_54373512028.html#.UZNqN5mQj4A.twitter

IMO it would be almost criminal if we were not in for him. Also considering we have been linked to him for the best part of 3 years, i'm fairly confident we would be in the mix. Would be a fantastic coup. Does he want to leave or is he being pushed, lets face it it won`t be the first time SAF as done this. I personally could not see the point in SAF mentioning Rooney wanting to leave then saying he is going nowhere, not with 2 games left. If we are after getting rid then are the comments based on keeping Rooney`s value up?, or is it a ploy to make Moyes look good by talking him round or getting rid and stamping his authority on the team? I don`t know. To me it does seem a little strange when the manager says he was trying to keep his retiement quiet but there was a leak, quote from him "The Club is like a seive and it shouldn`t be like that" then in the next breath he is divulging info on Rooney for what purpose. Strange, very strange, thoughts please.

Transfer Speculation Darling for the Summer of 2013

It is that time of year again, time for the annual discussion of which player(s) will get the most love in Transfer Speculation.

Now let's be very clear about what the purpose of this thread is and/or isn't.

1) This is just for FUN, to cast a vote or two or more for which player(s) you think will be the most talked about in the Transfer Speculation forum for the Summer 2013 Transfer Window.

2) This is NOT to discuss ins and outs, who you want, etc. Plenty of other threads for that.

3) In no way, shape or form is this implying that Transfer Speculation discussion should not take place. (Has to be said since some people always tend to misunderstand)

Previous darlings have included Ozil, Benzema, Silva, and of course a three time summer darling Wes Sneijder. Just to name a few. So who do you think it wil be this summer? Which player or players will be on everyones fingertips? Who will the papers/webistes/etc bring up the most to drive our Summer Transfer Dreams?

A few weeks ago I was all set to see the Summer of Balenaldo, as it seems signing Bale and bringing Ronaldo back were what was exciting the forum the most. That talk has cooled somewhat, but could explode again at any moment. Obviously some returnees from previous windows (winter windows included) could come into play, Strootman, Wanyama, Lewandowski, etc.

So who are my vote getters?

Bale

Ronaldo returning

____________________ Player to be named later, when we get closer to the summer.

I have a feeling Sneijder will pop up again once or twice, but will not be a popular subject to discuss.

So who do you think the Transfer Speculation Darling(s) of Summer 2013 will be?

Have fun, don't be a grump.

how is zeki fryers playing for spurs he went to belgium?

i read he had signed for a side abroad and then he was playing for spurs u21s monday night if that was a way for spurs not to pay compo then it needs to be stopped and i got to say what a stupid boy he was near 1st team with us now hes in there reserves what a mug and supposed to be united fan

Summer 2013 Completed Transfers

Not sure if this is a good idea of not, and not trying to force all completed deals into one thread for discussion. Both very young players with fairly little premiership or first team experience between them. Again its just speculation but if theres any truth in this we seem to be going in the direction of buying young british players, who will have extortionate prices placed on their heads. Is Moyes right in looking to sign young promising players or should we be looking to sign players with more experience who are already at a high standard? I personally like buying young players but would prefer proven class who can help us kick on especially if we have to pay excessive amounts for 'potential'.

If you were David Moyes...

Hi Guys,

Thought it would be interesting to get peoples take on what they think David should do with the squad he is inheriting at United, so basically, if you were David what would you do with the squad in terms of playing style, formation(s), transfers, assistant and backroom staff and maybe a little prediction for how he'll fair with your proposed changes?

I'll go first! In my opinion, given it's his first year I think he should do very little. Find his feet managing the biggest club in world football and try and keep us competitive. I have very realistic ambitions for Moyes. I think a top 3 finish in the Premiership, last 16 of the Champions League, and quarters in both the domestic cups (league and FA) would be a fairly succesful first season.

To help him achieve that I think he should get an assistant who can help compensate for his lack of CL experience e.g. Queiroz. I still think that he should keep Rooney by giving him a chance with a new manager and to start afresh. The only thing in terms of transfers is I'd like to see him bring in a 40 game a season centre mid who can help control the middle, my ideal choice would be someone like Wilshire.

As stated, I think Moyes should try and not go for a massive change at the start and be mindful that he can be succesful by slowly integrating his new methods over his 6 years. I'd liek Moyes to stick with the 4-2-3-1 we played at times as I think it suits our players more.

Conversley, my little brother thinks that Moyes should make the same start Fergie made at United - massive statement of intention. He agreed with me that he should keep Rooney and offer him a fresh start under a new manager, an assistant with CL experience was necessary and the formation should be a fluid 4-5-1; he also predicts that Giggs will become aplayer/coach this year! But he thinks Moyes major dilemma/obstacle will be managing a large squad of champions. He thinks that Moyes likes working players who can mix it up with the Stokes and Arsenal's, but most importantly who are reliable.

So he thinks a major clear out is needed with Lindegaard, Buttner, Valencia, Anderson, Nani, Young, Scholes, Fletcher, Macheda, Bebe, Lingard, Tunnicliffe, Brown, Wooten and Cole being moved on, which in his opinion could raise a minimum of 60 million in transfers and save at least 500k in wages. He then thinks this should be reinvested back into the squad with marquee signings only. With the amount saved and generated from trsanfers and the fact Moyes should be given a handsome war chest to begin his Old Trafford reign he thinks that this should actually be possible. He doesn't know who, but players like Bale, Wilshire and Ronaldo are on his 'wish list'.

In his opinion we would have essentially two teams (see below) that should be able to win all 4 compeitions next season.

--------------De Gea-------------- -------------------Amos----------------

Rafael-----Rio----Vidic-----Evra Jones----Smalling----Evans----Fabio

---------Carrick----Wilshire------ ---------Cleverley-------Powell--------

Ronaldo-----Rooney--------Bale Zaha----------Kagawa------Welbeck

-------------van Persie----------- -----------------Hernandez--------------

So if you were the new manager coming in what would your strategy be?

We lack of 'captain' material at mielfield area...Right ??

At the top we have RVP and at the back we have vidic/evra. But at the middle ??? Carrick?? I don't think so. If we look at big team in europe, most of them has captain material or has EGO at the midfield. For example bayern have schweinsteiger, Real have alonso, Barca have xavi, Dortmund has Kehl. So, we need to find this type of midfielder(commander in midfield) to battle against them.

Name your worst MU player of May

As the title said, Name your worst MU player of May that we need to sell maybe.

Sky Bet confirms Baines and Fellaini are done deals

This morning the odds were at 1:1 that we would sign them, so after being told so often on this forum about how the oddmakers set the odds based on inside info, that the odds reflect who we are after, etc. This can only mean that they have in fact already signed the contract, transfer fee agreed to. We won PL, Chelsea lifted Europa, Wigan did the FA cup and Swansea, the League. Which of the PL leagues impressed you the most? For me, Aston Villa was the most impressive. They may have hugged the relegation post all season, but the manager never wavered on his youth policy. Week in week out, they played beautiful football with enthusiasm, win or lose. Beneteke was man of match material all year long. They were a joy to watch.
