Re: Get rid of Johnny Evans NOW! [:@]

There is no way I would lump O Shea with Evans. O Shea is a great team man, can play anywhere, has suffered from a lack of games. We can think of other players in the squad who might fit the same bill. I thought Obertan was a bit of a disappointment tonight.Giggs wastnt great. I am a fan of Anderson, he did his best; Anderson shoudl be in the first team, he shoudl be given games, he will grow... . But Evans... mercy, mercy, holy cow, atrocious!

I can't remember the last time I posted anything on the messageboards, but I need to get this off my chest somewhere and my family have had enough of hearing about it already! Yes, Jonny Evans is absolutely useless. Like, really bad. This is going to turn into a bit of a rant I'm afraid...

Yeah there will be people who try to defend him, saying we're just reacting to one bad result, he's a young player and needs time... no, I'm afraid I simply don't agree with that.  Of course, everyone can see that fourth goal tonight was his fault, if I defended like that for my local amateur team I'd be physically assaulted by my manager, but the third goal was also bad from his point of view. He was lazy, thinking the cross wouldn't get past Fabio, and so he didn't even bother to look round to locate the striker. Sure enough, the cross comes in and Cartlon Cole is past his shoulder before he knows what's going on. It's not just this game tonight though...

All those draws we've been having this year? 3-1 up away to Everton and it ends 3-3? Yep - Jonny Evans. Although on this one Gary Neville has to take a share of the blame.  Two identical goals from Everton, they stroll down their left wing and the cross comes deep into the box, and on both occasions Jonny Evans gets beat in the air by Tim Cahill and it results in a goal. The first one he puts in himself and the second he nods down for Arteta to smack home. Now, Cahill is good in the air, but Evans must have at least 3-4 inches height advantage over him, so to get beat twice in quick succession is just not good enough as a centre-back.

2-2 away to Fulham. Bobby Zamora contests one ball with Vidic and one ball with Evans, and promptly decides that he'll spend the rest of the day picking on Evans. Understandable, you would say, given that Vidic is rock-solid, but the ease in which Zamora simply bullied Evans out of that game... well, it was close to embarrassing. He beat Evans to every ball. Thinking back I'm sure that Fulham's first goal came when Zamora out-muscled Evans and cut the ball back for Davies to score.

2-2 away to Bolton? Evans hardly covered himself in glory. Zat Knight beats him in the air from a corner to put them in front after about five minutes! And bullied by Davies throughout the rest of the match.

The game a few days ago against Blackburn just about sums it up - he only had to play the last 30 minutes when we were already 6-0 up, and yet he still manages to make sure Blackburn get a consolation! Evans is the one man marking Samba when he heads in.

Jonny Evans simply isn't good enough. Being subbed as a centre-half like he was tonight means everyone knows you've had a horror and the manager wants you out of there before you do more damage. People say he's young, but I'm sorry he's almost 23 and had a full year of first-team football with Sunderland. I think it's clear now that he's just not got the ability to play for Utd - he's barely even Premier League level if you ask me!

You've hit the nail on the head there, although it erks me to say it as I come from N.Ireland and he plays for my national team, he just isn't good enough for Man Utd. Lets not talk about sending him out on loan either, I think its time to get rid and buy someone who IS the future of Man Utd

OMG! he's great on football manager 2011. hehe. lets laugh a bit. its too hot in here. on a more serious note, he needs to be sold. i think Smalling actually shows more potential and how many games did Smalling need to prove that~? Players like Kjaer, Sidnei, even Sakho would be better options. maybe Phil Jones as well. sometimes i dont know why fergie praises him so much! well, he might turn out to be great for all we know so in SAF we trust for now but i will beg we just allow him to play the reserves. we dont need any errors from him. he never brings a clean sheet with him!

I agree that Evans was terrible and his form is awfull but people keep forgeting how young he is

Don't think so. He's almost 23. If he isn't a reliable defender at this stage in his career what hope has he got?

I agree, the lad has been with us for 3 years now or more and has seen plenty of first team and cup football, he had the whole pre-season and like O'Shea just aren't the quality of player needed to suceed in todays game, and thats the bottomline, I'm fully behind our team and it is the team that I'm concerned about because when SAF decides to throw O'Shea and Evans in the mix they bring down the rest of the squad and we always seem to get embarrassed and like it or not losing 4 nil to West Ham is an embarrassment especially coming off last weekends performance. I think Fergie is in a no win situation with these 2 players, he's backed them fully, given them preference in squads, given them contract extensions at salaries most of us will never make in a year, and the excuse of no confidence is weak! How can they have no confidence when all there shown is confidence in them? It is a matter of talent and skills, these 2 haven't been in the lineup on any regular basis so they've had plenty of time to work on their skills. O'Shea still can't cross a ball to save his life, has no pace, on defense he makes stupid mistakes and 90% of the time the ref is well within his right to whistle him for a foul. Then Evans and what I see is his biggest problem is he gets overwhelmed or panics or maybe a little of both and for like I said a player who's been in the calibre squad we have for over 3 years and to still be making the same basic mistakes is ridiculous, loaning him out may help but I donot see anyother Premiere League teams wanting him and to loan him out to a Championship squad isn't going to help him, it looks like playing for a club as big as ours is just to much for him to handle. SAF has said it a million times that not all players who come to United can handle the pressure of playing for us but yet he refuses to acknowledge that Evans fits into that exact circumstance.

Well I don't often get into these things of player basihing; anyone can have a bad night. But I hate to say, that over the last couple of seaons one of the things to strike terror into the heart of a UTD supporter is JE at central defence. Lad is not even remotely close to Man Utd standard.SAF never reads the stuff we write, so dunno who cares, but....  Please show Evans the door, boss.' Seems like a lovely lad but just not cutting the mustard.

never posted before but just had to get this off my chest.

my god, that evans is utter ***!  he's had all the time and chances in the world to prove his worth and all he's done is prove he's just not that good.  he's 23 for ***s sake, if he was going to hit form it would have been years ago.  face it, this is his peak.  you'd be better of whacking a pole in the ground.

i read that he should be out on loan or sold but who'd have him?  the guy's a liability, end the farce now for all our sakes.  the more i see of him the more his face becomes punchable.  ***, *** and more ***.   AAAARGGGH!

I fully support our players, even when they make mistakes (and they all do), but can anyone tell me when Johhny Evans ever had a great game? He's the one player on the squad that I've ranted and raved about, and for quite some time now. Every time he plays, he makes at least one or two notable mistakes, often costing us goals. So, to all those who jump to his defense, and laud his supposed potential, PLEASE explain what you see in him, because I've never spotted any of it. How many SEASONS do we have to watch him fail, before people stop coddling him? Don't hound people for bad slumps (Berba, Rooney, Nani, etc.), but don't carry dead weight either.

Ahhh mate stop going on about Pique eh give it a rest are you so forgetful ? He had a year left on his contract and was demanding first team football.

But with Rio and Vidic dominating the defence he stood no chance of getting init SAF knew this and sold him straight away as he wouldve left on a free

    after his contract expired.

    You get it now ?

it's sad when we try to blame one individual.

the whole team had a bad game ...

    nothing to whine about.

we didnt convert our chances and they convert theirs. football.

this is a great lesson and lets move on to the next challenge ...like we always do.

this game will just make as stronger

Whether dribbling or sprinting Ryan can leave the best defenders with twisted blood

I agree that Evans was terrible and his form is awfull but people keep forgeting how young he is,and its strange I bet half of ye are the same people who were calling for him to replace RIO about a year ago,we have to be the most bitter fans always cribing and plus wasnt dere also another ten players on the pitch.Giggs is so predictable shocking in one match den plays decent in one match den shockin den decent and on and on,and what about Oberton and Bebe dey wouldnt get a game with Leeds United demind Man United.Fletcher was pathethic,no need to comment on O'shea. The real Macheda is back awfull touch and runs around like a headless chicken. How can people slate a genious like Berba when hes on the pitch??.O well move on lets get back the first team and hopefully pick up maximum points from here till the Arsenal game to ensure where top going into difficult period of games

Evans was not the only one o'shea was utter sh-t all the way never have been and they have just given him 80 grand to play like this some joke brown was not that much better so we can say  fergie put out a *** defence and midfield and the best team won.  Their perfomance was no way top class so i say if we win anythink on this display we will be lucky.

Here we go again...Used to read the same posts about Fletcher several years back. O'Shea is another example I guess. Evans is just lacking in confidence which is understandable. He will be at Manchester United for some time to come as he has the talent to succeed. So get over it and get behind the WHOLE team, which is by the way playing some very good football.

I've been tempted make a long post like this myself, I didn't even read any but the first couple of words and summed it up by mentioning bolton, fulham and everton and I knew exactly what you were going to say! Kevin Davies, Tim Cahill, Bobby Zamora, Carlton Cole, Samba, Zat Knight, all tall, strong, physical players. seeing the pattern here anyone? but completely spot on mate, loan time is needed, or work in the gym or something,

lol not picking on you but i assume you mean Gary Cahill? because when i think of tall, tim cahill does not come to mind Stick out tongue but i think loan time is needed too, he needs time to pick up the pieces of his shattered confidence.
