i was born in 1971, so some of the greatest player i'm only seen them in video. So here's my pick:-

50's - Duncan Edwards RIP

60's - George Best RIP

70's - Sammy McIlroy

80's - Bryan Robson

90's - Eric Cantona (my greatest of them all)

00's - CRonaldo

personally i found it hard to say fairly which united legend is the greatest of all time as i'm only 20 and haven't seen some of the footballers such as edwards who many regards as hands down the best footballer to ever pull on a red shirt. in my opinion, based on what i have watched, it has to be ronaldo. some of the things he did with a football many couldn't dream about. after coming back from the world cup threatening to leave after the rooney incident, he showed the whole nation what he was about. scoring countless amounts of goals and single handedly winning us the double in 2007/08. in his final season he once again continued to prove he was a goal scoring machine and led us to another league title and the champions league final against barcelona. he won countless individual honours as well and is in my opinion still the best footballer on the planet. on top of that, his goal against porto and free kick against arsenal both in the champions league quarters and semis respectively were absolute genius. no other player on the planet at the time would have scored those goals because only he has the audacity and confidence to shoot from such range. although the fashion he left for madrid was very controversial, he will always be remembered as one of uniteds all time greats.

I have chosen , but is difficult too do, George best, Bobby Charlton, Brian robson, Roy Keane, Pau Scholes, they are all great players, but I thing that Duncan Edwards could have done so much more, i on,ly could watych him a few times, now we see the players near every weekend, but I still believe if he had make a full carreer had Old Trafford, nobody would have too think about it, he was definitive the best.

Cantona for me was ledge along with Becks and Schmeichel but its gotta be Giggs for the alltime greatest.

1st  - Giggs (record appearance holder , won everything with the club and has been a true red, started at United and will finish at United)

2nd - Sir Bobby Charlton (exempilary record on and off the pitch for United , a true pro and United great , his goals vision and heart for the club was never questioned)

3rd - Roy Keane (a real leader among men , no-one but keano could get a response from certain players to lift them even fergie at times , but if keano told you then you would do it. what a player of typical united ilk)

 You only have to read what other great footballers say about him, Terry Venables for one. I was fortunate to see him play, perfect player to have in your side, could play in any position and just about achieved that at United, even playing in goal on one occasion. Sad that we will never know how great he would have been beyond his youthful years.

George Best would come second and perhaps Cantona third, though Ronaldo may have achieved this had he remained.

is difficult to decide who gets in first, Giggs or Scholes. the two surrendered, body and soul to the club. G. Neville is such a jewel for the team, come many years, always the same race, the same will, and the same spirit winner ...

I put Ronaldo in the third because I think that really helped the club win in years when it was there. and I bet he always gave everything to win a game.

I can only comment on the players I've watched so it would be

1) Cristiano Ronaldo because every single touch could lead to a special moment in the game

2) Ryan Giggs because of his longevity and constant high level of effort

3) Paul Scholes because of his steady excellence in mid-field 

1) Eric Cantona.

The man was truly "The King" during his time at United. He was the perfect person to help lead Giggs/Beckham/Scholes/Neville/Neville/Butt/Keane during the 90's, and I think he was a big part of them becoming such great players later on. I personally see Cantona as THE Premier League legend.

2) Ryan Giggs

Giggs has been my hero ever since I was 3 years old.

For someone to have played as long as him, accomplished as much as him and still continues to play out of his skin is truly a special thing. Infact by the time he does decide to bring his career to an end, I see Giggs overtaking Cantona as the greatest United player ever.
