Re: Dalglish working wonders... Are Liverpool finally back?

I think Dalglish has definitely improved that team but he hasn't improved it enough to win the league. A top four finish is on the cards though, specially if Arsenal dont lift their game enough and make a few smart signings in the next few weeks.

in a word... no. for carroll and downing see pennant and crouch. same old liverpool. another false dawn. managed to win a few games last season when out of all cups and season effectively over so pressure off. 5th at best imo.

    No Mercenaries:
    They are not back yet.
I don't know about the "yet" part, but I know they are not back and they are no comming back. They now not only have us to contend with, they have to contend with Chelsea, Spurs, Everton, that lowly bunch at City and host of middle level teams like themselves. They are not coming back to any where.

Re: Dalglish working wonders... Are Liverpool finally back?

On today's performance, Liverpool looked hot and cold. Good in the first half and very average in the second. Their defence does not seem that strong to me, especially in depth. 1 or 2 injuries and there could be serious problems. Adam looked very threatening from set pieces but not so much from open play. Henderson did very little, Downing only made one good run where he hit the crossbar. Not sure if these players with set Anfield on fire in the coming season on today's performance but it is still early days and too early to be passing judgement. They definitely don't strike me as potential winners though.

They've just signed Jose Enrique, so looking at the squad and team, they have all bases covered now, you could argue they could do with a top class centre back like a Hangerland, but it's not a massive deal if they don't get one.

                            Reina

         Johnson  Skrtel  Carragher  Enrique

                     Henderson  Adam

                Suarez  Gerrard  Downing

                            Carroll

Back ups: Flanagan, Agger, Robinson, Kelly, Spearing, Lucas, Kuyt, Maxi, N'Gog...

This is the best Liverpool side I have seen in ages...Suarez who is easily one of the best attackers in the league... Carroll who will get 20 odd goals, Downing who will get bags of assists... Gerrard who is Gerrard... Adam from free kicks and set pieces... Henderson the box to box man, breaking play up... Johnson and Enrique charging down the flanks... it's a really nicely balanced side, plenty of youngsters there too, homegrown talent...

I hate to say this... but they aren't a million miles off rivalling the best side we can put out now...our defence demolishes theirs sure... but in the midfield? I think they definately beat us... and up front, Chica and Rooney vs Suarez and Carroll? it's a tight one.

They do need a centreback, desperatly. Injury to carragher or skrtel is bad news since the back up they have is shite. Lucas will start - how are you putting liverpools player of the season last year on the bench. He will play. Kuyt will play aswell. Im not saying i would pick them because the team you choose is pretty much what i would go for but dalglish will play lucas and kuyt. Shelvey/Sterling/Spearing/Flanagan and Jack Robinson will play some part this season.

They dont match our midfield though. Id take Anderson and cleverley over henderson and adam. Then you have to think about fletcher/carrick possibly sneijder. etc...especially with youth like tunnicliffe/pogba/morrison coming in. Our wide men are better, Young and Nani are the best left and right wing combination in the league without doubt. Giggs and Valencia to back them up, that is unbelievable quality for backup. Chica and Rooney as a partnership *** on suarez and carroll. Both combinations compliment each other well, but chica is a better goalscorer than both suarez and carroll and rooney is a better creative player than suarez or carroll.

Liverpools team is alot better, it will be very very good if they sign a world class centre back. It still doesnt rival the united team and especially doesnt rival the depth in the squad we have here.

Are you sure you are not a liverpool fan because you seem to be doing alot of thinking about liverpool!

Why are u guys underestimating them? Even though they are not good as individuals, if they gel as a team, they can be great. Check us for example, Evra, Vidic and Fletcher, etc. They need time to gel.

PS I hate the presenters and commentators they give liverpool too much. Liverpool Revolution seriously?

Wait for a few matches then judge them. Suarez movement is great always confusing defenders, Carroll's heading ability always a threat, Downing and Adam crosses needs no describing. They can be great. Dont want to admit. Sunderland are poor, i think cattermole would get a red card

It might not strike fear into teams but it can dominate any teams midfield in the league. U saw what we did to city, u must have seen our midfield destroy chelski's 3 times in a few weeks at the end of the season. At the end of the day we are the best team in england even if u liverscum fans dont like it

To people saying Enrique is over-rated and can't defend... "1 on 1, Enrique's very hard to beat. Only 9 times last season did a player beat Enrique 1 on 1. Compare that to Ashley Cole (38 times), Clichy (26 times), Baines (24 times) & Evra (23 times)" More stats... Successful dribbles 2010/2011 Season: Enrique (65), Evra (26), Baines (26), Clichy (21), Ash Cole (17) Tackle Success % 2010/2011 Season: Enrique (84%), Evra (76%), Baines (74%), Clichy (81%), Ashley Cole (61%) Enough said.
