Re: whats next for city:a stadium made of gold.

Isn't all of this part of the shady £400 million Etihad deal? Smoke and mirrors maybe bearing in mind that this is the first year that the FFP comes into play.

What's the point really, upgrading their academy and still looking to buy star players with big money. It's really disgusting to see the amount of cash spent on bringing in all those players, the cash would have eased part of the economic crisis facing in Europe.
    Manchester United always!

They have spent a lot of money on ***. Rather destroying than bringing something to football. But this time they will spend their money on something good that benefits football.

your right, money is making a mockery of the game but it was making a mockery of it years before man city had any money. Chelsea, Blackburn, Man utd have all spent big over the years.. Man city have not taken over united... so i dont know what you mean by that.. maybe your scared of a bit of competition. im not. im relishing the games. be even sweeter when we beat them. Chelsea spent 75m in the last january window....75m bloody million and it got them NOTHING. Dont worry my friend, United will be alright What do you mean by city not having any history anyway?? they were quite successful in the late 60's early 70's..... is that not history??
Good reply. I didn't actually mean that I thought that City had at this moment in time had equaled or overtaken United. I meant that, whether any of us like it or not, they have a very good chance of doing so.

I am aware that United have spent a lot of money in the past, but this was 'earnt' by success and good marketing...not simply because hugely rich people want a new toy.

City do have some history, but it pales into insignificance compared to United. I suppose I am worried where it will end. If United do get taken over by super rich owners...our Prem will become as boring as Scotland and Spain...just a a bit fed up with where it is all heading.

    They can't pay for history/legacy.

With 38 medals SAF is the only man who was almost as big as the club

What i dont get is why spend all that money on an academy and what not, when players from the academy/youth/reserves just wont get played... They will get shipped out or spend a lifetime on the bench as the manager continues to fill his squad with big name primadonas.

    Just seems such a waste

I will fight until i die

who cares? its just a training facility to improve their team....whats wrong with that... shows they are looking to the future maybe to raise their own kids through the ranks rather than splashing the cash for players. Maybe im wrong but i think this thread is over dramatic and has a hint of jealousy in it..
I don't see any jealousy here...maybe there is a hint of genuine concern about a *** club... with no history but tons of money... firstly competing with and then overtaking our great club.

Money is making a mockery of the game I love...one of my friends (a Chelsea supporter) has given up on the whole Prem thing and bought a Peterborough season ticket.

The Quataris Aspire Academy teams are making mince meat of every teams out there so if we dont focus on our young players development we will be outrun by them in the future. And what they do is perfectly legal according to FFP rules, training facilities are not included in the measurements.

I can see why they need that many pitches considering the number of players that they have and the other couple dozen they will buy in the coming transfer windows. In related news, Mancini says the current team bus isn't big enough to accomodate all of his players while travelling and insists the owners need to buy him an Airbus.

City just reach a new low every week. They will never eclipse us. We've already proven this season that whatever they can do, we can do better. That statement by me is purely concerned with the views taken by the media that City are now better than us, etc, etc.
