Re: why dint we sign david silv***

why didn't we sign David Silva ? easy we don't have the money to match City anymore. The same with Nasri who would rather be there and even Teves. The money they can bid for players and the wages is unbelievable to what we can now offer, they have owners who care and are expanding and they will be challenging for most honours now. What about our owners, say no more the sooner they go the better and take their debt somewhere else it should never of happened in the first place or again. LUHG

I'm pretty sure Valencia would have given us a chance to match their offer for Silva mate. It's not like once a club accepts an offer for a player they wouldn't listen to other offers on the table.

United just didn't feel he was worth the money

I'm still struggling to see why United signed a winger, a defender, a GK (although we did definitely needed one) and not address the midfield area... after we made the three signings initially I was licking my lips thinking of the midfielder we were going to sign (Sneijder, Nasri etc.)

It all depends whether Silva had already agreed or not to the City bid.

In terms of this summer we did try to get a midfielder ie Modric (wanted to stay in London), Sneijder (wanted to stay with Inter and had insane wage demands) and Nasri (who chose City).

We did try, we just werent sucessful

We bid 20, Valencia said they wanted 25, Fergie said no.

He's a fantastic player. Imagin him and Hernandez playing together with his vision and passing ability. It would be a nightmare for defenders.

i remember hearing that fergie thought it was too risky as he thought he was too light weight so we pulled out of the deal. just like we did with modric and torres. silva wanted to join utd.

I think Fergie felt he wasnt good enough for his price tag. I must say his eye for talent is ****

     New fan are you?

go back and read up a bit on the history of  United under SAF and the players he has brought in, then return to the thread and comment again.

Got a question....WHY DIDN'T UNITED SIGN EVERY SINGLE STAR FOOTBALL PLAYER IN THE WORLD?

My posts get reported because I am so much more intelligent than the reporters and they can not deal with it

I remember watching BBC coverage for international football game and Gary Lineker mentioned it on air. We did bid for him, but obviously he wasn't worth the £3m extra...

Or maybe City got a bid accepted before we could make an improved bid......

i still dont think the moneys all there to be honest, debt has everything to do with the reason we arent buying quality players!

Maybe you need to do some research before spouting BS

Our accounts show £130 million is present and ready to spend if needed. (BTW that doesnt take into account the £126 million in payments we got from how we did last season, ie PL winners and CL finalists)

Accounts dont lie btw either as it is a legal requirement

What are you talking about? Do you think you know more about who is and who is not the right player for united than the most sucsesful manager in football history?

For all the players that United attempted to sign, the big miss IMO was Ronaldinho, but we faired quite well despite that and we have gone on to win the biggest trophies without real stars anyway. I think that separates us from other big teams in Europe. As far as United is under SAF, we will not buy the biggest stars to match Madrid, Barcelona and now City but continue to build from the inside through our youth system and ofcourse 1 or 2 players from the premier league with proven experience. Its painful for those who want us to buy star players around the World, but lets accept the Manchester United way and support the team no matter what.

Which youth player have we bought through since Wes Brown and Oshea. The youth system needs reworking. We need to hire staff from europe and south america to train them. How can we keep saying youth, when Arsenal are doing the same but its proven that they havent done anything in years. If theres a player that has experience and is proven whats the issue? the Issue is after players like Veron and co he thinks theres not much point. But be realtisc. Welbeck vs players like Balotelli and Aguero. Hes a good player but are we gona compare? It comes down to a bit of arrogance. "we dont need anyone" is a bit common place now. The hammering we got was a lesson that needed to be taught. ---------------------No ones saying sign 5 players for 100 mill. Even if he had got what the fans were asking for someone to replace Scholes whos already been there and done it all with some experience at least till Cleverly and co are properly ready to fill the void? Whats wrong with that. Even if he had signed one more midfielder?
