    Moyesy:
You need to experience failure to truly appreciate success.

Go back to the 1994-1995 Season. We had a great team, Hughes, Ince, Kanchelskis, Cantona, etc, but it was also the breakthrough season for the likes of Beckham, Nevilles, Butt, Scholes (Giggsys came a couple of season earlier), yet we finished the season with nothing!

We were in the Champions League, we finished 3rd in our group behind group winners Gothenberg and Barcelona.

We finished 2nd in the league behind big-spending Blackburn Rovers

We also lost the FA Cup Final to Everton. We won nothing (bar the Charity Shild).

We currently have a group of players of a very similar age to that class of '92 that eventually helped us bring amazing success to this club. I dont think it could have been achieved without the experience of losing. How it feels to lose, and how much it means to win.

These current players will now know how that feels. They will learn, they will grow and they will be better players becuase of this experience.

Rome wasnt built in a day, the current Barca team wasnt built in a day, the great Milan, Juventus, Madrid, Ajax and United teams of the past wernt built in a day.

This season may feel like 1 step back, just as the 94-95 season did, but the 95-96 season? We won the double. Thats the 2 steps forward!

Failures in the 97 & 98 Champions League (and 98 PL) may have felt like a step back, but everyone knows what happened in 1999, dont they! Thats was the two steps forward!

    Our time will come again!

Well said. The same can be said about our 05-06 side. I made a thread pointing that out, but some people just refuse to be patient and/or rational.

Bravo!!! Yes, our time will come again as it has come time and again. Not for nothing do we have our gaffer whom we pride on calling "Sir". Resurgence is just around the corner and while some may laugh and some may mock...it is us who stand "UNITED".

I think we should not make this end of this world............... But preferably as a new era...... The team is going through a transition, we have to accept that all cannot be perfect.... Losing is also part of sports, am confident Manchester United will bounce back....... We have the best manager in the world and that's FACT!!!!!!!!!!

i'm sure we'll bounce back.but i don't think building a team for the next generation with our home grown players is advantageous for the club and as well for Fergie. If he wants another Champions league trophy before he retires and prevent Shi.tty from dominating for the coming years,we'll have to make 'Big' signings.'Big'' not necessarily in terms of money though. Shi.tty are not going to stop spending big till they start winning neither Real Madrid. If we are to be dominant again in Europe,we've got to spend money on the right players, players who would make the team go on another level, keeping in mind that the younger reserve players won't be ready before a couple of years.

Have to say good post. But you're assuming that history will repeat itself evertime, which I doubt will be the case

To be honest, i think he found my post difficult to argue against. His comeback was so weak, i actually took it as a compliment and as a positive comment!

Great post, I agree were a team in progress, players learning along the way. IMO we have a team with a great future not a team in decline, I really hope one of the many great things Sir Alex is remembered for when he retires (whenever that is) is the brilliant team he left in place.
