harry the red devil:The fans on this forum are really the worst!!! I am really really disgusted!!!
1) Yes in the 2nd half we were very slack and made mistakes which led to goals...that was probably a blotch on an otherwise clean sheet...we won you fools!!! we beat a pretty much full strength city team at their home (their last defeat was dec 2010 for the record)...and the team we had out was not our strongest..so a win is a really good result!!!
2) I see some people say we were not able to carve them open...well thats exactly what happened in the first half and led to us being 3-0 up...Mancini changed the formation in the 2nd half...did any of you idiots notice everytime we attacked in the 2nd half, how organised and packed city's box was...its not as easy as they were numerically down and we had a man advantage and could not score...after the change in system...city were 1 man down in attack, not in defense...despite that conceding 2 goals is not very good...not the fact we were unable to score more
3) We knocked out the holders of the FA Cup, the leaders of the EPL, our fierce city rivals, the "blue-moon", and all you guys are doing is slating the team....if you guys have so many complaints even after such a huge result in our season...the doors are very much open for you all to leave...stop being such fools....
In united's defense, i can say, united were only erratic enough to know that their 3-0 lead could not be matched...those expecting a reverse of 6-1, sorry but unless you were blind, city (unlike us), decided to go for damage limitation and try hitting us on the counter, and thanks to our sloppiness, they ran us close with this tactic...at the end of the day we held on, lucky or unlucky, we won!!!...and thats what matters!!!...Also, this squad was 3-0 up against city at home - proof enough of the quality amongst our ranks...you can see what we are capable of...we tend to get too sloppy and make mistakes too frequently...that is what needs to be worked upon...not buying players!!!!
Sorry to say that part of your logic is flawed.
1) it was not a full strength City side. I would have been extremely disappointed if a United player would have been sent off for that tackle. The team we had was the strongest available to us. I do not think City would have lost if they were not a man down
2) Yes Mancini was brilliant in changing in at half time. But we were STUPID in not taking advantage of their 3 man defence. We played into their hands by Valencia and Nani coming inside all the time and not stretching the play and helping them by narrowing the play. It was our own stupidity that made Mancini look brilliant. All he did was take a risk and we failed to exploit it by any stretch of the imagination, It was simply our fault that we did not do so and not because of Mancini being brilliant. He had no other option.
3) we never went for a 6-0 or a 6-1 win. We did not have to do and we did not do so in the second half. With a man up we should have been able to hold on for a 3-0 lead
So the fans were and are right to express unhappiness at the way things went. We were under the cosh because of a strange decision by SAF to make bizarre substitutions at a stage when it was not needed.
1) I said pretty much full strength...which means barring 2 or 3 players...also its just as equally probable that city would have lost were they not a man down...possibilities are endless...fact is city went a man down!!!
2) They in fact played a 5 man defense, and the wing backs went forward as well during the counters. There was nothing STUPID! With 5 people in defense, the only space outside would be off the pitch!!
3) when did i ever mention we went for a big win..the result (a WIN) is huge...yes we should have held on to 3-0 and we did not...and i have said that this is what we need to work if you read my post fully
City were unlucky to be a man down. I would have been disappointed if we had a United player sent off for that tackle. The referee was poor I agree.
NO they did not play a 5 man defence in the second half. They played a 3 man defence. So we played into their hands by not stretching the play. The main reason why Scholes was brought on was probably because he is the best in stretching the play but he could not do so because there was no winger wide enough for him to make that pass.
Did you actually watch the game? If not just look. every time, we got the ball near the touch line, there was space in their box. But every time Valencia got the ball, he came inside and the box got congested.
The red card was debatable...agreed....might be harsh!!!...Kompany was not doing himself any favours going in 2 footed...again as i said possibilities are endless...with Kompany on, how can you say for sure City would have won? It was just as probable that we could have won despite City having all their 11 players on the field...
they were playing 3 in defense, and the 2 players on the wings were full backs as well...so when they had to tighten and narrow things down, there were always 5 making sure this is exactly what would happen...at the end of the day, the city players did well to contain our attacking play and punished us for our mistakes
It was a straight red, no controversy, no dispute. Look up page 120, http://ar.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/81/42/36/lawsofthegame_2011_12e.pdf. Two footed challenge = Red card, regardless of whether or not you get the ball, it's in the damn rules. Now, with the added knowledge that Kompany did in fact, deserve a red card for his tackle, can people just accept that we won? I swear some of the people here are ridiculous. Before the game, saying we would lose, after the game saying we didn't win enough? Ridiculous.
