    Re: Can we Challenge Barca?

can we challenge barca means can we beat them let's say in CL, because you have to admit there's a little difference when you are playing preseason game or when its CL final or something like that. Nobody is Barcelona rider, I'm just being real. We lost twice to them in CL, like I said earlier until we beat them in CL, the answer is still no. Anyway that is my opinion, you can ignore it if you like. As much as I sound like "Barcelona rider" you sound like jealous uber fan. And it doesn't make me less of a fan just because I give credit where credit is due.

    Re: Can we Challenge Barca?

Always this question "Can we challenge Barca?" "Can we challenge Barca?" blah blah blah. Couldn't be more sick of it, honestly. What does it even mean? We're not in their league. So I guess we're discussing Champions League?? Well the answer for me is always going to be YES then. Why? Because on any given day, with a relatively healthy squad, we can challenge any team. Might we lose? Of course. But Barca can lose too. *ahem* Levante. Why on earth anyone who is truly a United supporter would have their head so far up Barca's ***, or worry about Barca that much, is beyond me.

We had couple of chances, and we didn't. So until we do beat them, I don't think we can.
didnt we beat them in pre season ?
Yes we did. I was actually at that game! :) There was 83000 people. I lost my voice for a week. But you can't really count that. They didn't play their best team. Messi, Xavi..
So? We withdrew our top players at halftime, aside from the Beast of the match, Nani. Barcelona riders can shove off

Manchester United healthy and in form with the best eleven is more then a match for anyone. This year is a one off so SAF and the club will take what they can get. Can´t wait for next year to see them healthy and in form like they were at the start of the season. That bunch were just starting to develop chemistry and were starting to terrorize opponents. Forget the 70% possession and the 6 second rule they were scoring at will. Manchester United at their finest.
SAF found the rhythm with that squad earlier in the season. he knew they were free-scoring and was beginning to work on their defensive nature as a team when injuries struck. whilst we were waiting for one player to recover, another took a hit. how can you manage that? if SAF wasnt a great manager having a terrific squad, we would have been mid-table by now! however, these injuries and the results thereafter have gone to show our depth. YOU CANNOT WRITE US OFF EVEN WITH 13 INJURIES TO THE TEAM... WE ARE THE GREATEST.

I think we have more pressing issues but on their day I still think they're the best.

lmao, last 2 times we played them when it mattered they made us look like fools, now a few months on they have dipped in form and a thread like this comes up haha..nevermind barcalona, we wernt good enough this year to compete with the likes of Basil let alone barca.Although madrid have a better squad, barca have the better 11 and madrid still havent beaten them this season. If barca were to play united next week, theyd get up for it no doubt and id expect the same result,Any other opinion and your dilusional.FOR NOW!

    That was a fluke.
Not a fluke, exactly, any more than Newcastle recently beating us was a fluke. It's just a case of no team being able to win every single match they play against opposition who they 'should' be able to beat. Something which the generation of fans coming into the game at the moment don't seem to realise. Barca also lost badly to Real Sociedad last season not long before they beat us.

For me, Barca are still Europe's top team. They're having a surprisingly weak season in La Liga, but then they couldn't dominate every single season in every competition for the rest of time. Nonetheless, they are still always odds-on to beat Real when they play them, and similarly I would bet on them against any team in Europe at the moment. In the same way, we're behind City but I have no doubt that we're a better team. (The difference there, of course, is that we've had a long injury crisis, which Barca haven't. But the principal still applies.)
