Johnny Evans is arguably the best defender in the league at his current form.

I was at the West Brom match and I have to say it looked like Jonny said to Rio "don't worry i'll take care of everything" Jonny was superb and it seemed that Rio didn't have to make a tackle! Superb at the moment and is silencing all his critics. Keep it up Jonny.

NOOOOOOO......the problem with this lad is not skill.it always has been about decisions!!!!!....poor decisions especially under pressure! that's it.....he cann't be a reliable defender leave alone world class or whatever. there are also some other guys like carrick,berbatov ...anderson..and a few others. they cann't make it in pressurized games which is the seasonal business while you are at manunited. it has never been about skill..devotion...or you name it.......he is not united material type!

Spare us of your comedic genius I beg of you, what a pointless think to say in a thread praising a young man for finding his feet and playing with heart to help us retain our title and arguably being our best defender all season. Return leg against athletic Bilbao will be the best test of his caliber as a defender.He has been the best defender for United this season.That said there are still some weaknesses in his defending.He is not so good in the air.Hope he continues his good form for the rest of the season.

Evans is playing great,he really is.Silenced all the critics.I still think he needs to bulk up a little,he is as thin as a twig.

Jonny Evans is a top quality defender.

one thing i love about football is players who come back and prove people wrong i mean i hated nani for the longest time now hes my 2nd fav manutd player . now with evans i use to actually hate his guts and why cus he was *** we can all agree on tht but all these games hes really starting to feel comfortable and now its come to the point we cant actually drop him im pleased for him proved me wrong and everyone else lets hope he can keep it up and become even better.

imo Jonny have a ball control of a midfielder

I have watched Jonn Evans very closely in all the games he has played recently. If you focus on one player in a game you get a true insight into their ability. If you watch carefully, when he receives the ball at the back he looks forward and raises his hand almost all the time (usually with a lost, disdainful look on his face) he then, turns, kicks the balll sideways if he can to a fellow defender or back to his goalkeeper. He often plays the ball to a player who is encroached by an opponent. If anything, United should teach him the skills of picking out front players quickly and releasing the ball immediately. He hesitates and that is no good in today's fast flowing game. He is a long way off being a world class player, I am afraid and in certain areas he is still a liability. Being in a winning side does not give a true refelection of a player. Evans does not yet appear to have the confidence you see in the likes of Ferdinand, Vidic or even Smalling in case someone says it comes with experience. Focus on Evans in a match and you will understand my comments..

your comments are foolish evans is accomplished on the ball if he wasn't he woundn't be a united player,u watch any world class team or any team that passes the ball from the goalkeeper and around the defence to start of attacking moves the ball is is passed between defenders and gaolkeepers alot then moved forward when possible, (Being in a winning side does not give a true refelection of a player) lol i heard it all now being in a winning side means ur playing well and are a good player if that wasn't the case he would be on the bench but i suppose u no more about jonny evans than fergie does lol after you've been watching him closely in RECENT matches wereas fergie's been watchin him since he was 16 i think i no who i belive lol

Some players really come into their own when they get a run of games. Jonny is doing well.

I have to be honest I am not a fan of Evans as I think he is always suseptible to mistakes and lack of concentration so therefore cannot be trusted....however even I have to agree that recent performances have been solid and as long he continues to play as well as he is I will have great pleasure eating humble pie!

Me too!! Add to that, I feel that he is really really composed with the ball on his feet. I once mistaken him for Giggs during the United-Liverpool game.
