god no please don't break anything on Cleverley he is fragile enough. Allot of you are missing the point, he has been injured for most of the last 4 years, combine that with Ando's tendency to get injured and you end up with a team lacking midfielders. So how long can we continue on with our 2 preferred mids spending two thirds of the season out injured is whatsome of us are pointing out.

What are you talking about? He has a serious illness which nothing can be done about, he has been playing through his career with the condition and has tried to play through it giving 100% to this club. Fletcher shouldn't even be mentioned in same breath as Hargreaves.

I'm not comparing his illness to Hargreaves' injuries. But the pattern we saw with Hargreaves will in all likelihood be repeated with Fletch. We'll be told he's nearing a return and everyone will build their hopes up, only for his illness to flare up again, or for him to pull up with a muscle tear due to being out for so long. I just hope SAF doesn't repeat the same mistake he made with Hargreaves and hold off signing midfield reinforcements on the off chance Fletch does make a full recovery with no recurrence of his illness or additional injury problems.

I mean Fletch is in an even worse position than Hargreaves when it comes to trying to regain his fitness, because during a flare up he can't digest enough to sustain regular exercise, so his muscles will be wasting away.

I agree...What's wrong with some of you on this forum. Our players are injured and so they will get treatment and come back at the right time. Maybe Cleverley was brought back too soon. The fact is Cleverley is young and needs bulking up a bit anyway to be able to take the knocks in PL. Just remember, Physio's need to remain employed and if they deem a player to be injured and not ready to play be it minor or major then they make the decision about the player playing. It doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be injury prone forever. Look at Robin Van Persie this season for Arsenal. Cleverley will play for us at the right time this season. From March onwards plus the fact that him and Rooney are out of the England squad has more to do with us playing Tottenham this week than them being 'too injured' to play for their country. Hence why they were not risked yesterday against Norwich or it would have looked too fishy had they played yesterday and then suddenly couldn't play against Holland but then played against Tottenham.

I was hoping I would NEVER see the second name in a United forum again, but to be honest I am getting worried, too. Having already missed 31/40 matches this season is not that encouraging...

It's just terrible luck at the moment. It wasn't his fault when he was injured earlier in the season and now he just needs to take it easy. He is averaging 20 appearances a season so far in his career which isn't bad for a player who is young and now looking to break into a very good team.

Fletcher, a young man in the grander scheme of things, has been forced to semi-retire to try and recover from an illness that can, absolutely worst case scenario, end your life. The fact that he tried to play on and play through this illness is testament to the man's character and deserves a modicum of respect.
