"It is a sad day when my team, that has dominated football in England for the past 20 years is killed in the Europa Cup by a nothing side, I am devastated."
Okey. can you please discribe to me how athletic bilbao is a nothing side???
Utd at their very best would still struggle against them.
if im perfectly honest. Utd are the nothing side. the premeir league isnt what it used to be. Its not the beautiful game in england anymore.
I just hope alex can change the fundamental foundations of the utd team and turn it into an international rival. i dont honestly think his got half the team there. ashley young is awesome though. good signing.
The lads previously stated utd play an old fashioned game. Its true.
Ive often seen utd hold the ball for ages and end up having to pass back to the keeper before booting it at the opposition.
teams nowadays take risk using individual skill, who take on multiple players to make things happen. I dont think utd have alot of this. dont get me wrong we have good players. young played very well tonight i though. the issue is i was screaming no end at my tv tonight, shouting "get the ball in the box. cross the bloody ball into the box". utd just end up passing it more and end up either losing possession or start to move the ball towards our defense. most of the time back to the keeper. to make anything happen you have to deliver the ball into the box. we all know rooney and giggs can pick up vital spaces and claim easy tap in's or headers from thoughs. if you cant get the ball into the box. your not going to score. i was suprised rooney took that shot tonight. Alex fergusson although has helped rooney in keeping his temper down, during his early days. his now turned into a very unselfish player. although this sounds like a good thing. their are times where he picks up great positions to score but end up passing it. alot of utd players do this, and its imbedded within the old fashioned style of playing football.
i also noticed tonight that our passing was very predictable. Very predictable. I could see where the ball was headed even before they passed to each other. Decent teams will capitalise on that and force utd to make mistakes. often outnumbering players 3 to 1, or running onto a player who is receiving the ball.
