Yes I was disappointed, but we must learn from mistakes ought to get on the experience of Bilbao, they played better than us played a style collective style and pressure on the opponent and the holder of the ball and I see that we miss the fighting on the ball and pressure on the holder the ball, maybe a player with a quality fighter and leader of an actual restores our spirit
i want a second Roy Keane or Schmichael to scream and F*** everyone up when they dun have the fighting spirit .. not evra...
Only one i can think of is vidic. Rooney does but he comes across as a petulant child. Its more out frustration then leading or encouraging the players

@ gerald geyer "It is a sad day when my team, that has dominated football in England for the past 20 years is killed in the Europa Cup by a nothing side, I am devastated." Okey. can you please discribe to me how athletic bilbao is a nothing side??? Utd at their very best would still struggle against them. if im perfectly honest. Utd are the nothing side. the premeir league isnt what it used to be. Its not the beautiful game in england anymore. I just hope alex can change the fundamental foundations of the utd team and turn it into an international rival. i dont honestly think his got half the team there. ashley young is awesome though. good signing. The lads previously stated utd play an old fashioned game. Its true. Ive often seen utd hold the ball for ages and end up having to pass back to the keeper before booting it at the opposition. teams nowadays take risk using individual skill, who take on multiple players to make things happen. I dont think utd have alot of this. dont get me wrong we have good players. young played very well tonight i though. the issue is i was screaming no end at my tv tonight, shouting "get the ball in the box. cross the bloody ball into the box". utd just end up passing it more and end up either losing possession or start to move the ball towards our defense. most of the time back to the keeper. to make anything happen you have to deliver the ball into the box. we all know rooney and giggs can pick up vital spaces and claim easy tap in's or headers from thoughs. if you cant get the ball into the box. your not going to score. i was suprised rooney took that shot tonight. Alex fergusson although has helped rooney in keeping his temper down, during his early days. his now turned into a very unselfish player. although this sounds like a good thing. their are times where he picks up great positions to score but end up passing it. alot of utd players do this, and its imbedded within the old fashioned style of playing football. i also noticed tonight that our passing was very predictable. Very predictable. I could see where the ball was headed even before they passed to each other. Decent teams will capitalise on that and force utd to make mistakes. often outnumbering players 3 to 1, or running onto a player who is receiving the ball.

I'm very disappointed that Man United did not show respect to us (their fans) in both matches against Bilbao. Everyone from the club was syaing before the match that they had desire to win this competition. So why our players did not show it on the pitch? Especially Evra has to show example as a captain, but Pat has not really shown good form this season. I hope for improvement, we can still win Premier League.

I am not happy how we crushed out from the Europa League... Well we have the EPL to win and we should be more serious than playing like weaklings...

The real truth is that all the "young GUNS" that play for United think that every team that they come up against will bow down in terror. They need to realize that playing for this great team is a privileged, I think that every player that was involved in tonight's game should be docked half of there weeks wage. Maybe that will wake them up and they will start playing. It is a sad day when my team, that has dominated football in England for the past 20 years is killed in the Europa Cup by a nothing side, I am devastated.

That's very true about what you just said about playing old fashioned football. All the european teams have skill and add high tempo to the game and they will take on 1 or 2 players. But united will just hold the ball and if they can't find a pass they will give it to the keeper who will then boot the ball upfield and lose possession. Teams like Barcelona and Bayern munich they would play with skill and keep passing whilst moving forward and they have players that can change games for eg. Rooneys goal tonight was class but we need more than that our football will not survivie in europe for sure, we are only good for the league.

the premier league is "NOT" the best league in the world. I dont understand how commentators/journalists/managers and the general public see the premier league is the ultimate league. It hasnt been this way for a few years. La Liga is by far the best league. High tempo/ massive passing rate and skill. There are bucket loads of players in La Liga that are far better than any player in the premeir league. Barcelona are the best in the world. Looking at todays performance. athletic bilbao looks very similar to barcelona. they dont have the finese finish that barcelona has but christ their passing, work rate on and off the ball. utd may as well have not bothered flying into spain. 3 players vs 1 all the time. constantly attacking. fast passing. we stood no chance. i dont think any premeir league team could take on athletic bilbao. not the form their in atleast. Oh and guess what. their all very young players. its a young "boys" game. the work rate comes from the youngsters. not the veterans. the premeir league has far to many old veterans. this is why england "cannot" and "will not" ever win a world cup and/or the european cup. Athletic bilbao are 7th in La liga. this just shows how decent La liga is. the premeir league needs to stand back and watch La Liga for a moment, because the english game is very very VERY slow in comparison. the english game lacks alot of high tempo teams in comparison. the football game is a passing game. if you cant pass quick enough and effective enough. you get punished in the champions/ europa league. People need to wake up. man utd dispite our respect within the world of football, are no longer the big guns, on an international stage. I dont think we played too badly tonight in spain if im honest. we were just out classed by a country mile. young/Jsung park/giggs/evra/evans all played well. rooney dispite the great goal, i dont think is fully fit in my opinion.

Re: Today in Bilbao rolling blog

The truth is that United play old fashioned football and with that tactics, type of players and style no good future in European competition could be expected. Finals with Barcelona show that change is needed and now Bilbao confirm that. The 5th in Spain outplayed the 1st in EPL in a humiliating way. They could win today and week ago with 5 goal difference. So to all of the guys here which talk about pace and United style, remember each time the games with Bilbao and Barcelona and that against technique and improvisation, pace and strength is useless. The teams which play Bilbao and Barcelona style will dominate Europe next decade and if United want to be on board need to look for a change. BTW that concerns all English clubs, not United only.

Well a very sad display. But a good reality check for the future. The truth as Roy Keane pointed out is that if your depending on Ryan Giggs to perform week in week out, your in touble. Giggs is a great player and so is scholes. Yet both of them are 35+. As Keano said we are so dependant on them and thats the sad part. At some point we need to get thrashed a couple of games in a row. So management can see that you cannot have 35+ year old players as the center of your midfield. BTW im not talking about todays game in particular. Im talking about our games in europe in general this season.

Not to bothered really, i kind of knew if we came up against a good passing side we'd struggle. I dont think Fergie has a formula against opposition who move ball about well, the history speaks for itself. 20 is on its way !
