Thats what we played against Bilbao and get raped. People open your eyes , its not just formation , its the player too that matters. NO matter what formation we play, if your Left back thinks he is a left striker , then we are conceding. If your CM never tackles , then opponent will be getting you, as simple as that.
From now until the end of the season. We are stuck with what we have right now. We cant buy a player. I agree. I honestly think we should scrap playing with fullbacks. Essentially we usually have 2 central defenders and carrick if he can get there in time to stop all those attacks. You are right our fullbacks dont have the discipline to defend and attack at the right time. Why do of them need to attack at the same time!!!!!

It probably would. But Sir Alex does like 4-4-2 in pl. In europe i think that would have been ideal!
With Chica and Danny not pulling up any trees at the mo' and with Berba' not being able to buy a game, i think it would give us different options. Not that I don’t think 4 4 2 would work against wolves coz it will if we go that way. I just think we need more movement that we are getting, and that 5 – 1 set would give it, at least I think it would.
    I agree

Our midfield will never work with Carrick in it. He is the weakest player to have played in the holding role. He can't tackle, Ll his passes are backward or sideways, he can't shot. He is the sole reason of our retrogression over the last few year. I thot Jones will improve that position but he is even worse because he has no tactical/positional discipline. We should spend 10million to bring Diarra from Madrid as no team can make progress without a decent holding player. It is the most important role in today's football. Bayern has Sweinterger, Barca have Busquet, Madrid have Alonso, Milan have Van Bommel. The English sides have suffered from lack of decent holders. Look at DeJong at City last season vs Barry This year, Chelsea use to have Makelele, Liverpool had Alonso, Marcherano and Sissoko, We had Keano, Ince... Really men ..now we have Carrick who is like a lady, just a poor excuse for midfielder, can wait to have Fletcher back
You're preaching to the converted where Carrick is concerned, but who else is there to sit in-front of the back 4. You can dream about all the Tom, *** and Diarra’s you want, but the reality of it is that Carrick is the only player who can sit there if we pick 5 in the middle. Paul hasn’t got the legs to do it, and his ability to dictate the pace of the game would be wasted there. Jones is still leaning to be a centre back and has neither the temperament, the discipline or the passing ability to play the holding road. Fletch and Anderson are out for who knows how long, so who else will do it? Not who you’d like to see do it on fantasy island, who can do that job today if needed?

carrick is not good enough is just an average player the club should get rid of him,he seems to be good player nowdays because you used to witness bad perfomance from him

Would a midfield of Carrick holding, Valencia, Scholes, Nani and Young/Cleverly all behind Rooney work? Flexible, interchangeable, technical, power, pace and experience! No natural left footer, but apart from when Giggs is tearing them apart, when do we have one! What do we think?
4-4-2 is effective in PL but not in Europe. So I think this formation will be effective.

You saying that about Carrick shows that you know nothing man.Carrick has been arugbly one of our best and most consistent players this season yet prats like you dont realise this and dont bloody appreciate it so annoys me
I agree completely, Carrick is great. Plus, if I may say, Anderson is our best midfielder (apart from Scholes :) ), just too bad hes injured, hope he will be fit entire next season.
I agree man. When Anderson is fit and on from he is up there with the best i think plus he was starting to score more often aswell getting forward more.I hope next season he gets fully fit and we play him more forward as i think he he can score goals for us.He is a great talent and whoever says different hasnt a bloody clue.I rate him very highly. All these people that come on here and start slagging our players off we dont need people like that here.

I would play 4 2 3 1 formation with Cleverley and Martinez in midfield with Valencia Nani battling it out on the RW with Hazard and Young battling it out on the LW with Rooney playing in the hole between midfield and attack with either Hernandez or Welbeck as the striker know what i mean with a back 4 of Jones Smalling Vidic Evra with De Gea in goal what a line up that would be.
