Wow, most of you seem to think it was a penalty. I think it wasn't one. Sure there was a little contact, but Murphy just dived and that's unaceptable. Then again, rules for giving penalties are very unfair anyway, you can get a 90% goal-scoring opportunity for nothing.

4 points clear WOOHOO. Lets bare with this for the rest of the season. Next season we need some massive changes!!!!
I don't think we will ever see massive changes as that usually incurs consequences and as soon as that starts we will revert back to our old selves. It's always gradual with SAF, and that has seen us have steady, regular success. I think he's trying to slowly change our style to one that can compete with the elite, but those who are expecting it to happen next season are probably going to be disappointed. Lots more experience needed and lots more clangers and heartache await IMO.
    I agree.

How frustratingly bad was Giggs? He gave the ball away so much, I recall him making one great pass to Valencia in the 2nd half but that's it. I don't think he should be playing for 90 mins and not in centre midfield either. It should probably be Carrick and Cleverley/Scholes in the next few games. Happy with the win but not how we played.

Although we won, the passing was atrocious and the overall performance was extremely lacklustre and poor. If we want to retain the title we will have to up our performance considerably for the remaining games.

Re: c"mon boys, send out a clear message tonight!!

I watched this game like I watch every game on TV, with the sound down, I don't need commentators who have never played football in their lives to give me their opinion on the game. I thought we played a little slow, we could have turned the tempo up a bit. They played most of the game with ten men behind the ball, and made it so difficult to break them down. We played the game very professionally and with great patience. City have no complaints about the effort Fulham put in to stop us wining that game. I was amazed at the amount of diving that Fulham got away with, so I was relieved when the ref turned down their claim for the Danny Murphy penalty, another dive in my opinion. Not surprising then when all the after game talk was about that penalty claim, and no one said anything about our penalty claim for an obvious hand ball. So lets give them their penalty, and we'll have ours and we will call it 2 - 1 Martin Jol.

Ok, to all who found that disappointing just bare in mind the importance of that occasion. There was a hell of a lot of pressure on the boys. We got away with that one, but I think the pressure is slightly eased now and the next performance will be better especially if the oil barons continue to crack. That could be the most important points of the season.
Agreed with you. The 3 points was what we needed and the team delivered, the hard way though. We are ahead of City and this is crucial at this moment in the season. People should remember that our away form has actually been better than other seasons. We shall expect more than 1 goal when we play Blackburn away....we have to get our revenge ..remember the nightmare that was New year's eve???

Gavin2011, you usually make very astute comments. But sometimes, your anti-Berba bias takes a hold of you. He is gone at the end of the season, but if SAF puts him on the bench, he might as well use him, when such use is warranted.
Your point is based on a guess, tbh i don't know why his name needed to be mentioned and there was players like Cleverley on the bench that would of made more sense in a game like that. I don't expect you to realize that as i know how much you love the guy.
why don't you please clarify your complete dislike for Berba or is it simply you agree with Fergie on everything....tell us why he does not deserve a chance...
If you go through this thread you ll see what Ive said about the team choice. I don't dislike any United player and you wont read anything from me mugging them off. Common sense and not loosing the bap everytime we don't win by a significant margin is something thats often seen by supporters...i ll never be like that after a win.We could beat Arsenal 8-2 and get a 1-0 win against fulham, its all the same to me.....
    At my signal unleash Rafael

Young was certainly very very poor tonight. In second half he ventured forward once only. Rest of time he looked like he was left back in place of Evra. On the other hand the whole team were inept throughout. They tried to play like Barcelona, short passing. Trouble was most of the passing was back or accross rarely went forward. Why did they not use the wings with Valencia and Young?

Re: c"mon boys, send out a clear message tonight!!

Fergie nearly paid the price for negativity. We got damn lucky. Taking Rooney off invited the late pressure. In my opinion, I though Giggs should rather have gone for Scholes. Well I'm delighted we won and I wish we had to play the rest of our games away from home. It looks more likely to drop points at home than even away. I must say I had my heart in my mouth when Danny Murphy went down. And what is happening to our fans. OT is quiet nowadays. sad i live in the United States and I even shout for neighbors to come ask what game is on..we need to step up that decibel higher. Tonight felt like an away game at the eithad....

I am stopping with this now. Poor play, but the result is great. 3 points clear. I hope the team gets a boost and plays better next time. Good nite.

Gavin2011, either Cleverly or Scholes should have started ahead of Giggs. With that I do agree.
