Modric is the perfect player...but it seems London is where he wants to be.
He is perfect but pricey at the same time and im sure we could find different options without draining our bank account. I can see chelsea gettin him and i wish him well but for me i would go for someone cheaper and younger.
The problem with someone cheaper and younger is just that. We have Cleverley and Anderson for that but we need someone experienced to reduce the playing pressure from Scholes if he extends his contract and reduce the normal pressure from Cleverley all this bs talk that he is the new scholes etc. Someone who is 26 years or older, that my opinion.
I agree 100%. We have younger mids who we are waiting to reach their peak. Signing someone who is already pretty much the finished article is what we really need.

This. And not just that, but he has to accept not playing regularly, like Hargreaves and Solskjaer did. The core of our team is going to consist of Cleverley and Anderson/a new signing if Anderson doesn't make it. However, we need another experienced head/finished article who can provide us that service for a few years and take the load off of Scholes and Giggs, too, if we start to get injuries in the midfield.

However, what experienced heads and finished articles are available who can fit with us nowadays? Not too many around. Maybe Ireland, but he really isn't top quality. I can't think of any other such central midfielder, though. Parker would have been perfect for this role, but he's at Spurs now.

Sneijder has been close to awful this season. Absolutely *** dreadful.
What is the point in life if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?

Are you insane? Anderson has been the better player this season and looks on better form even when injured. Anderson last season got similar stats to Sneijder and yet Ando played in the CM and not in the AM/SS position Sneijder plays in. Sneijder cannot fit in a CM and would be a flop in the CM... Rooney s.hits over Sneijder in the AM/SS position.. Hell so can Young, Nani and Giggs.

Why waste money on an ageing and declining Sneijder who has a negative effect on his team and also would command huge wages? Funny how Inter looked better without him and as soon as he came back, they looked terrible.

No chance of getting the best players from Spurs... Overpriced to the max

And Inter... I wouldnt take anyone from there... Their team are doing cack in a cack league... That sums it up, players are either ageing and on the decline or just not good enough

    Cheers leeman.

Something I didnt add is that Spurs will be unlucky if they miss out on the CL as they are a top team with a lot of talent. A loss of form due to all these England rumours have hampered them

But with Inter, they will miss out as in the brutal honest truth, they just arent good enough anymore. Its as simple as that.

Very true but harry has some part to play in the demise of tottenham in the past month or so, his team dont really look motivated and have been sloppy all over the pitch. Shame they may miss out on CL because the first half of the season they were neck and neck with us and city. Inter i have to fully agree on, they need to completley sort themselves out. Inter used to be a team that was feared but it couldnt be further from the truth now.

Yeah maybe you're right. In all honesty though will Cleverley be a world beater or is Fergie just giving him more confidence by praising him. I think he is talented but he isn't world class and that is what we need.
    What is world class?

I think you have to look at the team, the chemistry. Cleverley changes the way we play, he is always positive and looks to get forward, he plays at his own tempo and the chemistry between him Rooney and Welbeck, Nani(earlier on) is brilliant to watch, a new team is starting to develop and a new style of play along with it.

We want long term success not instant, it will take time but these players coming through can beomce the core of this club for years to come.

As for your 2-3 yrs at the top level comment, Giggs and Scholes walk all over that theory.

I was meaning in his peak, Scholes has changed his game since his peak etc and we have adapted. I don't think Modric will carry on like Giggs or Scholes either, money seems to turn his head so once he has earned enough I doubt he would be sticking around.
He had his head turned by Chelsea, that's correct but I don't think money was a driving factor, it was the CL that he craved. The irony is that it's possible that neither will be in CL next year. I don't think you can question his commitment as he has been superb again this year for spurs despite all the interest last season and i think his peak will be up until he is 32 which gives us 5 years of a very talented player with PL experience.

The problem with modric is i doubt fergie will spend big on him, i think he is looking to buy young players and make them in to world class players rather than buying in already very good players. with modric we wouldnt get any resale value as he would be to old and we dont know how many years he can play at the top level. I think the last chance for us to get modric was last summer or the one before that but now it seems like he will stay at tottenham or go to chelsea. There are many talented young players out there that would cost a fraction of what modric would.
I agree buddy but the one thing that makes me think he wants Modric is the CL. He badly wants to win that again before retiring and he wont be able to win the CL by just trusting youth. Don't get me wrong that would play a big part but we need improvement now in the midfield area to compete with Europe's elite. Just a thought, but agian what do I know LOL
I agree that you wont win the CL with just young players but with some bright young players and the experience we have then we could make a real challenge for the CL if we buy the right players. Modric may want to win the CL but its all about if we want him and i think our time to get him has passed, if someone offered him to us for 30m then i think we would make a move but for 40m+ i dont think we would pay that sort of money out. Two seasons back i would put him as our main target but i think spurs want to much for a player that would offer us nothing back if we were to sell him.

He is looking likely to leave this season, Spurs will probably get into the CL and he will still be off. I don't think he is the type of midfielder we need though.

Plus rather give Clevs the chance to shine.
