    Re: Starting 11 against City?

Play 4-5-1 and 2 wingers will make it 4-3-3 when attacking. De Gea Smalling Evans Rio Evra Carrick Scholes Nani Giggs Young Rooney Welbeck OR You can put phil jones in the midfield to stop yaya toure. but the key is to stop nasri and silva B E L I E V E

    DBYGFX:
    This would be my team:

Subs: Amos, Jones, Smalling, Cleverly, Young, Hernandez

Game Plan: Hold the ball, keep possession, allow our midfield to help the defence. Allow Scholes to dictate the play and Carrick to hold it up. Than penetrate with Valencia and use him to use his strength to beat weak Clichy and with pace drilling it into the box like he's done this season. Allow Nani, Welbeck and Rooney to do link up play and devastate the Man City defence like we did in the Community shield (the 2nd goal, Nani's second one) and like we did today. Try and keep it in their half and just tire their defence, than when it's late in the game introduce Hernandez & Young to introduce pace to devastate their defence and the other sub is kept for either an injury or if someone isn't preforming.

We need a draw or a win, they need the win. With these tactics & formation we can be very good defensively and keep the ball well than just really kick in the damage with nice play until later in the game where we use the introduction of pace to penetrate.

I wonder how City will line up next week. They started with what looked like a 442 today. Wolves got a lot of joy down their flanks; and it wasn't until the brought de mong on, that they looked more solid.

If they go toe to toe with us, I.E. start with a 442, it will be down to who can defend best, as it will be quite an open game.

I suspect they will start with de mong, Wheel-barrow barry, and Yaya, and go with the two argie leprechauns, with either Nasri or Silva in support.

I would so for a 4-5-1 formation 4-4-3 when we have the ball, we need to crowd the midfield. my team is: (GK) De Gea --- (RB) Smalling ---- (CB) Rio ---- (CB) Evans ---- (LB) Evra -------- (RM) Valencia ---- (CM) Carrick ---- (CM) Jones ---- (CM) Scholes ---- (LM) Nani -------- (ST) Rooney
I PREFER TO PLAY WITH 10 PLAYERS THAN RELYING AT CARRICK HE IS OUR BIG PROBLEM IN MIDFIELD HE IS NOT AGRESSIVE AT ALL -ASOFTIE OR U CAN SAY A BARBIE- CANT TACKLE HE CANT PASS AND HE CANT SCORE GOALS A DEFENDERS LIKE TERRY -IVANOVIC-VERMAILEN-LESCOT AND AND AND SCORE MORE GOALS THAN HIM AND I AM NOT BLAMING OUR KEEPER AND DEFENDERS WILE OUR HOLDING MIDFIELDER CANT STOP THE ATTACKS FROM OUR OPPONENT AND OF COURSE IT WILL BE MORE PRESSION AT OUR DEFENDERS

Nearly the same team as today. Nearly. However, I think that the problem with todays came was that Evra had no support from Nani. Look over the game, there was always huge space down the left. Swapping Nani with Young to start will give United that extra bit of comfort in defence whilst still very able to attack. (4,4,1,1) De Gea Rafeal Evens Ferdinand Evra Scholes Carrick Valencia Young Rooney Welbeck VS. Aguero Tevez Silva Nasri Barry Yaya Toure Clichy Lescott Kompany Zabaleta Hart

Why would you leave Valencia out? I think he will roast clichy
On the contrary, Clichy is fast as ***, he'd do what Distin did today, but he's as much stupid as he is fast, Nani's trickery would be brilliant on him.

clichy is fast but, is he as powerful as Valencia?

More than likely not, but he's not a centerback and Tonio doesn't muscle himself through defences. Again, just my opinion, but I reckon Nani would be a better fit there.

yeah, i think we should try and focus on clichy as he is sort of a weak link. i think we can exploit him.

Him and Richards, two moronic defenders. That said, let's hope for a better defensive desplay from us.
yes! we need to look at our mistakes today and make sure we are more focused for monday.

    Re: Starting 11 against City?

I don't think this will happen, but my starting 11 would be: De Gea Jones-Smalling-Rio-Evra( with strict instructions to DEFEND) Valencia/Young-Cleverley-Rooney-Scholes-Nani Welbeck I'm undecided between Valencia and Young. Young is more creative and delivers a great ball, but Antonio has been brilliant this season and works unbelievably hard for the team. He also stays on his feet!

Hopefully not just a 2 man midfield, or we will be toast of that there is no doubt at all.

Same team as today, but more concentration in defence.
Agreed. Seems to be what is viewed as a strongest line up by SAF.
I'm going for Giggs instead of Scholes, that will be my only change
Hell no, might as well put Chicha upfront and we'd be making the same mistake as we did against Wigan.

    4-5-1 is definitely the formation.

    De Gea

    Smalling - Evan - Rio - Evra

    Scholes - Carrick

    Valencia - Giggs - Nani

    Rooney
