Have they worked?
For a number of weeks now, Mancini has been incredibly defeatist in his post-match/pre-match interviews, repeatedly saying that the title was over, ever since they lost at Arsenal. Back then, the difference was 8 points, then whittled down to 5, then now down to 3. Yet, each time, he has still said it is "over".
Now firstly, I believe he is telling his players in the privacy of their dressing room, the EXACT opposite. To fight on. But in front of the media, he is spinning this story that the title race is finished, knowing full well, Utd players are probably watching.
I hope this isn't true, seeing as we have a team of experienced players, and I'm sure SAF, with all of his years experience, will have told the players not to listen. But I honestly feel that by Mancini saying this, an air of complacency has entered our players mind, thinking that the title is wrapped up, and that's why they haven't performed as of yet (Villa game aside). But the Wigan loss, and the drawing with Everton, after being 4-2 up, with 8 minutes remaining, shows that I believe, Mancini's words have got to them.
Anyway, does anyone agree, that Mancini's mind games has worked? Or is it something else entirely?
