Re: ManUtd.com: Your Greatest Ever United Matches

My greatest match well there are many but the one I chose was against Sheff Weds 1993 FA Premier League, as if you remember the year before when we blew the title in what I call black April and If we had done it again in 93 I really think that would have had a really bad knock on effect on the team and they may never have gone on the run we have since that day. I also loved after Steve scored the second when Judas V1 aka Kidd ran onto the pitch showed how much it meant. I went with the 68 final as my second choice as it meant two things to me, (1) Proof Sir Matt was right in taking us into Europe back in the 50's and was a mark of respect to the Lads that sadly never came home and (2) we became the first English team to win it, Third was the match against Juve as as Roy the Boy showed what it meant to be a UTD player and a team player and the confidence it gave to believe "now we could do the treble" was there for all to see after the game.

Champions League final 1999 Bayern 1- UNITED 2 Not even the most hopelessly romantic football fan could have dreamed up such an enthralling end to the most astonishing of seasons!! 3 minutes of pure exhilaration!! Only Manchester United fans get to experience nights like this!!

The 2008 Champions league was fantastic. Because nobody believed that Manchester United could have won that trophy. Looking at the Chelsea form that season, it was superb. if you agree with me Man Utd form that was not too fine. But coming out on that final day and played so well. it was an interesting game.

NO 1 MANCHESTER UNITED V SHEFF.WED FA CUP 1958, NO2 BENFICA 1968 E/CUP NO.3 THE 1999 BAYERN MUNICH TREBLE FINAL THE REASON I WOULD PICK THE SHEFF.WED FIRST GAME AFTER MUNICH IS VERY SIMPLE,WITHOUT DOUBT THE WINNING OF THAT GAME WAS THE RESURECTION OF UNITED AFTER THE DIASASTER. CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES IF WE HAD LOST,THE ADRENALIN WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN THERE WITH THE FANS BUT THE FA CUP RUN REALLY BROUGHT THE CLUB THE WHOLE CLUB TOGETHER. A CLUB THAT HAD BEEN DECIMATED BY LOSS OF 8 PLAYERS WHO DIED,2 PLAYERS WHO NEVER PLAYED AGAIN BLANCHFLOWER AND BERRY ,EXPERIENCED COACHES IN CURRY,INGLIS AND WHALLEY AND CLUB SECRETARY CRICKMER. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE ADMIN HEADACHE OF THE DISASTER,THE PRESSURE OF TRYING TO SIGN PLAYERS PLUS THE CUP FINAL TICKET ALLOCATION, WHICH EVEN NOW IS A PROBLEM. PLAYERS LIKE GREGG AND FOULKES BACK PLAYING FOR THIER BELOVED REDS IN 13 DAYS AFTER NEARLY LOOSING THEIR LIVES.PLAYERS GAVE EVERYTHING TO MAKE THIS CLUB RISE AGAIN CHARLTON,DAWSON,COPE,GREAVES,BRENNAN GOODWIN HARROP I COULD GO ON AND ON AND WHAT CAN WE SAY ABOUT THE GREAT JIMMY MURPHY. THIS GREAT CLUB OF OURS OWE THEM EVERYTHING FOR THAT GREAT WIN OVER SHEFF.WED. 13 DAYS AFTER THE CLUB HAD NEARLY DIED.

Surprised the 5-1 football lesson we handed out to Benfica in their own back yard would count - Matt said it was Uniteds finest hour --- they hadn't even conceded a goal there for 5 years of European competition - we were supposed to go down 6-0

And if it's matches of individual brilliance then the Bestie 6 goal return form a six week suspension against Northampton

The match that will stick in my memory was Arsenal v United with the wonder goal from Ryan Giggs. It has been played so many times, it is still a marval to watch. My second was the European Cup Final against Bayern Munich. The two last minute goals broke millians of Germans hearts. But one I remember very clearly was United v Sheffied Wednesday. After Munich crash Shay Brennan, Pancho Pearson and Alex Dawson and al the team helpedUnited thru to the final with Bolton, I remember because I was there at both matches. Arthur Jennings

For matches that I've experienced, I'd go with the 2008 CL final, 2009 CL semi vs Arsenal away and the 4-3 over City
From the banks of the Irwell
    To Sicily
And we will fight fight fight
    For Man United FC
