I see us making roughly the same amount of changes as last season and it will make us much stronger. The thing is our current squad is young, a bit thin in places and therefore has lots of room for improvement. How much room do they have to improve?
Getting rid of Tevez and Balotelli will probably make them stronger.
Yeah probably true, but then again they might just replace them with new idiots.

Its not about big changes but it is about the right changes.

We've finished on 89 points, the same as City and lost the league on goal difference. GOAL DIFFERENCE. Take out the 6-1 home defeat to them when we had 10 men and you are talking the smallest of differences.

Some people need to get a bit of perspective here. City have spent hundreds of millions of pounds and have beaten us to the league on goal difference. I am beaming with pride because for me this isnt a great United team, a long way from it in fact and we have taken City's billions to the wire. Credit to Fergie for that.

I am upset however that we blew an 8 point lead with 5 games to go, that is so un United like. We do need to strengthen, it goes without saying but its the right changes that are needed rather than big changes or a massive overhaul. Imo a midfielder or two would be nice, as would a left back but Fergie has seen and done all this before with Chelsea and their millions.

He knows whats needed so now is about being strong in the face of adversity, supporting the manager and supporting your club. If you cant support Manchester United when we lose, dont support them when we win.

No offence mate, but this is only city's 2nd season with the team they have now! The way they have gelled has been a bit scary to be honest. Expect them to win the league again next season, unless we buy two world class players.

The thing is we can make big changes and City could still dominate for some years to come. Over our period of domination teams did their best to stop us, sometimes successfully for a couple of of seasons, sometimes just putting up the good fight against us. City will certainly have a large say in their own destiny whatever it turns out to be.

If the rules were direct games we would have still lost the title... WHy people say GD when they humiliated us on Old Trafford.. 6:1 ... then second game no shots on goal. If it wasnt for SAF we would have been 20 points behind them. Do you seriosuly think we can achieve 89 points next season again?! I am sure CIty can do it especially if they buy some new players (They dont really need them but. . who knows

goog God enough all ready! listening to some of you one would think we were 15 ppoints off the top. Do all you doom and gloomers realize we missed the title by 9 goals or 1 game? go support shCity because this is Manchester United and we don't cry and whine we get better and fight harder and we do not spend asinine amounts trying to buy the title.
Bah peoplel ike to point out that we lost to GD .. But you guys are quick to forget they beat us twice and one of those times it was 6:1 on Old Trafford the other time we did not have ashot on goal...

Never, you cant be serious we were beaten in a 3 min period by a city team that costs millions more than utd yet had to rely on a 10 man QPR team who had won 1 away game all season. Yes we need to strengthen but lets not get carried away we lost Vidic early on and that was massive loss, then we lost Smalling who was playing well and we still drew with sh-tty. By the way i noticed no Tevaz or Ballotelli on the open top bus and if there were 100,000 fans there then im a shandy drinking southener"( proud salfordian:) ". So no never be happy about losing.

THANK YOU FOR THIS INTELLIGENT REPLY. I've written something similar but you're right, support the team through everything or don't support at all. I can't understand how some UNITED fans are so blined by the money of CITY as if that is all that matters. The question is why have City had to spend all those millions? The answer is because they wanted to be able to compete with UNITED and gain success. They have but it is temporary in as much as this season. Next season, let us judge City and United as well as other teams who will strengthen and see whether City can replicate a win like this season. They won it on GD, just and that was gifted by QPR not that City were so much better and like you, I feel very proud of what UNITED did achieve without having to spend as much money and still pushed City to the last day of the season, even more precise, to the last 5 minutes of the game. Not bad going for a severely weakened UNITED side just learning their trade.

    GeorgeOsborne:
I'm glad we lost today, we needed to... the team is not good enough, I know we got 89 points and could of won the league, but we didn't deserve it, and our performances in the cups have been awful. This United team needs a big kick up the backside, and this summer is where the transformation should begin. City have all the money, we can't rival that, and they have have players with incredible ability all over the pitch, man for man, they are better than us, we have Rooney? well they have Tevez and Aguero, and we don't have anything like a Silva, but they've got a back up version of him in Nasri too. Our midfield is weak, City's is Yaya Toure. Our defences are both equal however, but City are still the better team, and now??? now they know how to win, so that big advantage we had over them, has just been made very small. City will strenghten in the summer, don't worry about that... expect to see shock signings, expect to see them doubling up in positions where they already have world class players, rule nothing, or no one out... Falcao? Van Persie? Hazard, Neymar, Lucas, Wilshere, Xavi??? Pique, Chielini, Bale, it really could be anyone... What can we do? be smart, be savvy, invest wisely, we don't have the money behind us to compete, but the players ARE out there to get us back to the level we should be, we SHOULD NOT be losing to City 2-3 times a season, and we should never be outclassed by a top 6 Spanish team, or crash out of an easy champions league group again... Baines, Clyne, Modric???, Martinez, Feillani, Dempsey, Kagawa... the players are out there, and they won't cost the world either. We need to replace Evra, we need to strengthen the right back position, we need someone in central midfield who can give Yaya a run for his money, we need some attacking midfielders who can score, create and allow Rooney to focus on banging them in. De Gea, Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Baines, Martinez, Cleverley, Valencia, Young, Kagawa, Rooney... that team could beat City no trouble.
What's this all about? City winning their first PL title for 44 years on Goal Difference and you are all of a sudden outlining the 'brilliance' of City. City spent millions to turn in two years from a mediocre team to a team who just about won the PL. They exited Europe very early despite the fact that they were in the competition last season and yet no one has mentioned anything about that. City for all their millions have a selection of players who could not shrug off the challenge of UNITED but had to rely on a QPR team to allow them to win their title? If they were as good as you say they are why didn't they score goals galore against QPR? I take it that you are a long term UNITED fan and as such I feel your disappointment BUT don't be slagging off and comparing us with City's 'best players, man for man, line'. City have the success only temporarily. We have had many challenges before from rich clubs and we will continue to be the target for many teams because of our SUCCESS. CITY are the target team now and good luck to them. They will forever buy more and more players while UNITED will build a new side, young and fit enough to compete with City and any one else. Our history says so. We will deal with City in our own time. This season was not our time otherwise we would have won PL. OH AND BY THE WAY CITY WILL NOT DOMINATE because there are too many teams lining up to topple them.

You are a disgrace GeorgeOsborne, who do you think you are saying, "I'm glad we lost today?" A true United fan would never say that. Go and support City if you are going to act that way.

City wont win again, now some of their 'stars' know how to ''dictate'' to the club, there will be so much *** about wages next season that the bubble will burst, there will be discontent at the etihad next season and the pressure of delivering again will be too much for them. United will be there again year after year, is it a big deal if we dont win the title every year, we love and follow United whatever MUTID & BEYOND.

I would have actually preferred we lost the title by 15 points. This is an awful way to lose. This loss is devastating because I can see how the future is going to play out. This is the first of many titles for City. They have now tasted victory and will do everything in their power to keep it. They are now a force.
