Hernandez - £6mil, kagawa - £7mil. I could get used to this, rather have amazing value for amazing players, rather than just throw money at a torres or carroll.

In answer to the question yeah. Especially as the financial results are poor. Maybe we will only deal with people on free transfers

mate i have seen this guy and i really think he's a great player and he will only get better playing in a united shirt, we can spend £ 50m on a top player and he turns out 2 be a big flop, so trust the manager and lets see this guy play 4 us and am sure he wont dissapoint us.

Relatively cheap considering the other top young talents at his position. Highly marketable though. For the player, there is no better team to be playing on in terms of what he will rake in terms of merchandising and sponsorship.

    Couple of points:

    1. I never said i didnt want him - he may be the only midfielder we sign this summer so of course id love him to come here

    2. He is not 'World class' like so many people on here have branded him. I would love if he turned out to be but he is not right now

    3. Modric could be leaving Spurs this summer. He would be a more expensive option. And yes i would much prefer Modric - Not because he is more expensive but because he is a better player and is closer to what we need

    4. I stand by my original point - I asked if we would still be buying him if he cost as much as Modric or Schweinsteiger - the answer is no, we wouldnt. And i think if all of you stopped and thought about this instead of jumping on the hate band wagon, you would agree

He may not be world class, very few are, but he is a very very clever player and has the technique to match. I think he could be as good as Silva.

Modric, maybe i would prefer, for the fact that he plays CM and can play in a 2 man CM. (And of course that hes a very good player). Not sure if Kagawa could.

Would i pay as much for him as i would Modric or Schweinsteiger (£40m). No, but i wouldnt pay £40m for one of those two either. Put him at a Bayern or a Spurs for a season though, and i think his value would match either of those two.

Re: Are we just signing Kagawa because he's cheap?

This fighting really necessary? Kagawa is a great player, and we should definitely be happy about this, if it happens, not complaining. Paddy has a point, we don't buy a lot of expensive players, but personally id rather it that way, dont want to be like city, buying success. We were better than city this season, we lost Vidic, if City lost Kompany, then the title would be ours. Plus we really did give this title away with the Everton game. Who knows what would happen if Kagawa was 20-25m with 4 years left on his contract. As someone said before, look at torres, then look at hernandez.. The price really doesnt matter. Remember, we don't want to be like city.. all the better if we win our 20th having only signed a few cheap players and city signing a few big name players.

Wrong, you just don't want him because he isn't expensive.

Truth is you really don't know that much about him and have judged him by his small price tag

He is in the same bracket as Hazard in terms of how well he plays

No mate we're only signing this Kagawa because he's cheap. It's not as if he was Dortmund's best player this season, or that he has an excellent goals and assists record in one of the toughest league's, or that all the top clubs are after him. No we just want him because he's cheap (sigh)

He will be in the last year of his contract and he didnt sign an extension so Dortmund need to sell and he should be a cheaper option. Do you think we would go for him if he still had 4 years left and would cost £20m - £25m? I don't think so. This is Uniteds mentality the past couple years when it comes to transfers. Just goes to show, the moneys not actually there
do you realise how past old the saying "the money is not there" is, was, and he's been! If your looking for a club to sign players like city than go follow city because it simply isn't going to happen here regardless of how much money is in the account, do you want to know why? the answer is the same now a it was 5 years ago when money was even tighter at this club because of the pik's, SAF. If you can't accept this it is time for you to move on out at the very least stop acting like a little b::tch.
tbh he's right we wouldnt sign him fr 25 mil, but he isnt valued at 25 mil so it dont matter does it?? also kagawa at 25 mil would still a hell of a loit better than gaitan or sneijder at 30. fergie is looking for value and he's recognised it. people have been crying out for a playmaker, and now we nearly have a world class player, you are nit happy coz we didnt spend 40 mil on him?? grow up PaddyG

Re: Are we just signing Kagawa because he's cheap?

I've watched him a bit and he seems like a quite good player. I'm willing to bet that if his name hadn't been brought up in the papers he wouldn't be getting as much hype as he is now. Oh and we shouldn't be as fans be bothered about his ability to sell shirts. It's sad that we talk about it now.
