Useful if he's fit, but how often that? Can't b relied upon to play anymore than a handful of games so we must plan for a season without him and,if he does keep fit then its just a bonus.

    OH FYI to anyone here.

Owen has started 3 games this season and has been a sub in 4 matches. In these games he has had 7 shots and from those 7 shots has managed 5 goals..... Thats a pretty good return if you ask me.....

This is probably the best outcome we could have interms of our strike department, lets hope owen keeps fit so that we can use him more next season and he can fill in for if anyone else gets injured. I think this is owens last year with us though if we do end up giving him a one year extention.
    It seems realistic enough really.

Why do we need to replace Berba straight away who hardly played. It seems obvious Welbeck and Hernandez will be the main two next to Rooney with Owen being a back up if needed.

Then hopefully Macheda and Keane can do well on loan and if worst comes to worse injury wise we could always recall one of them.

But I agree this year could be his last year.

I would rather have him here and fit again than another 20 million pound striker coming into the club. Berba is on his way out and i can't see us dipping in the market for a striker, but i can see him staying on a pay as you play deal. Welbeck,Hernandez,Rooney and Owen/Mached***
    Agreed

Macheda and Keane will go on season long loans

Owen will stay for one more year

Then in summer 2013 it can be used to decide whether we need another striker after Owen or whether Macheda and Keane could be ready to step up after loan moves.

jcloverboy you could call Valencia a replacement. However maybe Valencia didnt want the NO7 shirt and wanted to make a mark on another number?

Re: No signs of Owen leaving?

He was unfortunate that he was handed that jersey so soon after Ronaldo left. Many fans were aware of the importance SAF seemed to put on that number when he gave it to Ronaldo after Beckham left...I believe Ronaldo wanted number 28. So the summer we sold Ronaldo, a lot of fans expected Fergie was going to replace him with another star player and not someone like Owen. I would be just as disappointed as I was last summer if he brought back...even on a pay-per-appearance contract. He is taking up a roster spot that will hopefully be going to someone with pace and skill that the forward line desperately needs. Quality not quantity.

worst number 7 in the history of the club
Really? So I take it you know every player, and have seen every player to wear the no.7 shirt to make that call?
Very true, i think owen was given it with the idea he would score some important goals for us and he did a great one against city a few years back which was very memorable. Injuries havnt been kind to him and he hasnt been able to be used how we would have liked.

Hopes he gots now, he got his EPL medal alright. Thanks for the goal but we need players in their prime. Good luck
he just as got as much right to be at united as giggs and scholes and on his day he is a quality striker and can find the back of the net
Dont really think he has as much right to be here as scholes and giggs they built there legacy at this club and showed unbelievable loyalty to stick with one club all there careers. Owen has the right to stay here and for all we know he may be be given one more year but he is in no way shape or form a united legend. He is quality on his day but those days are getting less and less as the guy gets older.

worst number 7 in the history of the club..why did we even sign that crock. contract gets renewed are you having a laugh? he hasn't played since october..he can go back to liverpool where he belongs.
I know he's been predominantly injured since joining, but after scoring that last second winner against City, he'll never be the worst number 7, IMO.

well lets hope we keep him, at least he scores goals for us and is a good partner for rooney, we desperately need someone who can actually put the ball in the net
I agree. When fit he's still pretty handy, had a decent run in the cc until he got injured. Excellent rolemodel for the youngsters too. Welbeck can take a leaf out of Owen's book when it comes to finishing.
    True dat!
