Think it is down to post count, as soon as I passed the 125 post mark, it just got taken off, or a mod saw this and just took it off? I don't know, but hopefully it stays off now as I have been able to have great conversations on this forum now the approval has gone and it makes me more encouraged to post :D Happy days

I was not aware of my previously banned account?... This is the only e-mail address i've ever used on this site and it's the e-mail and username I use for my membership as well and MUTV Online, I've always had to have approved posts from day one... I was just confused because it seems some don't and some do have this added to their account, I have never been abusive or anything to anyone, I do respect everyones opinion on here, do make a cheeky joke every now and then but let them know I'm joking?... Very strange!

Correct. I believe it's when you get your first green bar below your name but because you made this thread they unmoderated you early. So if a user has been here a few years but rarely posts, he will come back and find himself moderated. Newer users who post frequently and pass the first green mark will become unmoderated before old users who don't post.

Don't think it's quite like that, as far as I am aware acquiring 1 green bar only means that you are in the top 500 members in terms of the number of posts you have contributed to the forum, in other words when you get the green bar, you are approximately the 500th highest contributor in terms of number of posts made

This whole post approval business happened to me as well, I didn't see when it changed over and it was not used for me, but I suspect I hit a particular number of posts... It seemed to be something around the 130-140 mark, cant remember what exactly but I'm assuming that if you get to that number and have not been banned yet then it automatically lets you post freely!

You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.

If the administrator has configured this forum to support email notifications you will receive an email when your post is either approved or denied (if you have emails enabled in your profile).

There is no point in me trying to contribute to a thread which is fast moving as my posts don't appear for 12 hours or so which renders most of my thoughts etc totally meaningless as they appear on Page 3 for example which by the time they are published is Page 3 of 7 and so will just get missed.

Really is a strange way to run a forum, I am a member of a number of car and other sports forums and this is quite easily the worst in terms of usage but it's probably the one that I would like to contribute to the most?!

It's one of the few changes made due to complaints. Overall it seems okay but they should explain things so we're all aware and so certain users will stop complaining that nothing has been done to prevent abuse. There are now more moderators who appear to work closely with or within the club.

Has this lessened abuse? Yes but it's also unfair. Unfair to new users and unfair to old users who don't post every day. It's also unfair because unmoderated users, like the one who accused you of having a previously banned account, get away with harassing others and breaking rules quite often. My main point is that things seem better but the changes usually bring unintended effects and don't deal with core problems. In this case, the forum software is still bad and the abusers can still post freely.
