Re: We won't get Hazard, fine... but no Strootman or Martinez? worrying.

The real worrying thing is that SAF publicly said that he isn't looking to bring in a Defensive Midfielder. Smokescreen? Doubtful. I am certainly not in a position to second guess the Best Football Manager of all time, but perhaps the reason United have won so few Champions League trophies, as compared to other successful managers, is because of his reluctance to play with a World Class Defensive Midfielder. Sure, we've used Fletcher, Carrick and others in that "sort" of role (Carrick being used creatively as well), but look at the teams who have multiple Champions league trophies and see if they don't use a proper defensive/holding midfielder. (and don't say that Busquets isn't a DM, because on that team, he is) PL is PL. CL is CL. Not the same animal. Please stop being stubborn Sir Alex and bring in Martinez or Strootman or someone who can break up play and start attacks, skillfully. And I'm not talking about Felaini (sp?), Rodwell or Tiote.

    very true mate.

Me23: With Hazard it wont be transfer fee, from what Lille have said they seem happy with whatever offers they have recieved or will recieve and it is all now down to Hazard himself to choose which team he wants to go to.

Exactly. All three teams can meet the buy-out clause, so it's up to Eden, wherever he goes I'm sure he'll be a success, it's just a matter of him choosing which would be best, I'm afraid the Kompany factor could lean him towards city.
It's so simple to be wise; think of something stupid to say and don't say it

Well it's just a case of hitting the buy out clause and then negotiating with the player himself. Surely we can not be squabbling over a couple of mill considering the overall value of the sale. The price has got to be the simple part of the deal no? We wouldn't go any lower knowing the scum are sniffing around also, why risk it? I kind of feel Hazard is hoping to squeeze every penny he can out of us.

Theres still a chance that we can sign Hazard time will tell.Chelsea are also after him so anything can happen. Its up to us to do all we can to sign him and convince him to come here.He will cost big money but hes worth it and if we want a player badly we tend to get that player so who knows.Hazard can earn a very good wage here.Ok City and Chelsea can offer more its up to him if he goes after the money.I think if he wants to develop as a player then hes best coming to United. But he thinks he can win things at Chelsea and City yes he can but in the long run i think he will benefit on coming here.We have to wait and see.

Well i dont think we will get Hazard either.Chelsea and city have both advantages we dont have. They can pay more, both in transfers and wages plus they both have belgium players.

Javi Martinez looks to go to Bayern, they lead the chase.

    Don`t hate on my opinion!

I reall am hoping we are after a more box to box/ defensive midfielder behind the scenes. its what we lack more than anything. we lost games last season because our midfield got overrun. Martinez has a buy out clause of about 35m, to be honest ild rather spend the hazard money on him as its more what we need. its less glamourous a signing but it would make more difference to the team than hazard hands down. although my dream sumemr would be martinez, kagawa and hazard. then keep fryers at the club rather than go on loan.

And how can you 100% say we wont be getting Hazard... Again if it happens you will just once again look like a bit of a t.it.

With Strootman its debateble whether interest was ever there, but Milan have ONLY held talks.. Nothing more, nothing less... ANYTHING can still happen after talks... Hell just look at the scenarios in the past with Essien and Robben... Until pen is on the paper, DONT write anything off.

HOW do you know nothing is going on behind the scenes... Are you just assuming because nothing is in the press then were arent looking or trying for a holding mid... If thats the case then you really have no idea on how Fergie likes to do business....

seems our friend George is pizza eating buddy with Gill and SAF and knows every transfers and targets this summer

It's good to see that everyone is so positive. We must be interested, because Fergie confirmed it.

We won't get Hazard, fine... but no Strootman or Martinez? worrying.

I'm not bothered about not getting Hazard, he' too expensive and we were never going to lure him to United. But what I'm worried about is it looks like we won't be signing a tough tackling, proper old fashioned centre midfielder to sure up the centre of the park. Strootman and Martinez are two players who are ideal for us right now, tall, athletic, strong, powerful, excellent passers, can tackle, attack, head the ball, the lot... but Strootman now seems destined for AC, and Martinez for Bayern, Barca or Real... why isn't the club stepping up their efforts to get this position sorted? I'm fairly confident Baines will be signed which solves our Evra problem, Kagawa will most likely be signed which solves our creativity problem, but why isn't the main issue, our central midfield being addressed? Ferguson and the club need to get busy on this and pull the finger out, or else we'll have another season of getting overrun in midfield, surely we cannot ask Scholes and Giggs to carry the team in the middle for yet another season? surely we don't want to see yet another mauling of our midfield by Yaya, we're all sick of debating if Carrick is good enough, and whether or not Cleverley will become top class, I myself am sick of Ando and his will he be great? no he won't be great, hmm he might be great, nevermind he's injured for 4 months. Signing this centre mid should be priority number one. I hope the club really get in the race for Strootman and Martinez, and if they can't get them, they need to get looking at the likes of Yan M'Vila, Fellaini, Tiote, Casemiro, Banega, Rodwell... all very good players with excellent potential, but really the focus should be Strootman and Martinez.
