    we'llbeback:
The man who immortalised the number seven shirt.

Each who wears it embodies his spirit

Sadly the shirt has slept for too long

I wish some of you would learn some of our history ---- George wore the No 11 Shirt more than the No 7 - he also wore 10 and 8 and in the game against Norwich City when they knocked us out of the cup he wore No 9 ----- Paddy Crerand banned him from ever wearing that number again

Never saw any player who even comes close to him - when he ran with the ball it was like it was attached to his bootlaces - he didn.t need all the step overs and fancy footwork - he just beat players with sheer ball control - can't even count the number of times I saw him beat the defence, bring the keeper out and then send him the wrong way and tap the ball into an empty net --- that goal he scored against Benfica at Wembley was old hat to those of us who watched him every week, it was on par with seeing Ronaldo score from a free kick - it's what he did

Never forget you George - the Best of them all

    A footballing genius. A God. A 5ft 8in Giant!

I am of a different generation but its not hard to see why he was truly the best. After one clip i was hooked, i wanted more and more. I only wish he had a wc behind him as then any doubters would of been converted. So proud that United had the greatest player ever.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered".

Genius player, I really wish I'd seen him play.

Yeah this quote is a famous one. But I still couldn't get it what he meant with the quote.

the player that most reminds me of him is messi, the way he dips his shoulder and rides tackles.

George Best was before my time but I would have loved to have been alive to see him play. From what I've been told, the highlights shown of him on TV don't do justice to George. Here's to one of the greatest, most gifted footballers that ever lived.
i saw him play and yes it is true the video's just don't do him justice, he knew how to ride a tackle very rarely went down, even when hacked, he just glided past players as if they weren't there. the best way of describing his amazing ball control, is it was as if the ball was superglued to his foot, i used to stand in awe of his dribbling skills, i have never seen anything like it in my life, he really was a Genius and the only footballer i know who could take on a whole football team on his own and plant the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis. i would just like to say Happy Birthday to the late great superstar that is George Best. - M.U.F.C. O.K.

brought me and my mate when we were kids into OT when we were stood outside in the rain

when we got in sir matt was walking past and he asked "is it ok boss" sir matt said "aye" he sat us down in the stands and brought us both a cup of coffee.

when the rain stopped the team came onto the pitch and started playing 5aside across the pitch using benches on each side.

dont know why they were using OT instead of the cliff but best was a legend and a gentleman.

I was thinking of doing a thread on his B'day too. The worlds greatest player! "I used to go missing a lot... Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World." "In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol and it was the worst 20 minutes of my life". Simply one of a kind!

My father has a collection of his videos. I watch them & I wished I was there when he was playing. He was running past defenders when Messi was not even a fetus.

By the way. today is his Birthday.
