Re: Can't see Chelsea as a threat next season

Well I stand by what I said, they will be third at best, I remember the first game after they bought Torres, I thought they would just rip teams apart at will, but it just didn't work out like that.

If they get Guardiola, hit the ground running next season, and mange to keep all the egos in check then I may have to eat my words, But until then i'm sticking to my guns.

Chelsea will be there challenging next season.......They ai'nt finished buying yet.......
Yes and they will be a direct threat to City in terms of money and spending with UNITED still being a thorn in both their sides, without spending the same amount of money but still to win the title. These teams do fear us otherwise theywould not spend big!

Think you are being more than a little shortsighted there OP, Chelski seem to have signed 2 top quality players already, and appear to have reached an agreement with Porto for Hulk as well if that should fall through they have the money to get someone else and probably won't stop there anyway, as for a manager they are closely monitoring Harry's contract negotiations which appear to have stalled at Spurs, and already have an FA cup & CL winning manager there anyway if they don't bring anyone in.

So heads out of the sand, Chelski city Arsenal and Spurs will all be strengthening and next season will be a lot harder than the last.

We will have to be better again next season and to achieve need to bring a few quality players in ourselves.

next year is going to be so tough. I Think it will be the toughest season we've had in a good 10 years. I don't fear but i don't have massive confidence.

Ok I don't know who they will have as a manager yet but I just can't have them next season.

Yes they have bought Hazard, and may get Hulk, but they are two flair players who believe they are far better than they currently are, and given the wrong manager, and time on the subs bench (which their egos wouldn't like) it could be all out anarcy!

The loss of Drogba is huge, Lampard, and Terry are knocking on and I just can't see Torres returning to top form, also with the new FFP rules they can't really risk spending much more after Hazard, and Hulk.

I know alot of fans are getting het up about them outbidding us, but I just see it as a blind slap dash approach to buy all the hype players, no style, or skill about it at all.

i think we'd be better off waitin until chelsea is complete before we judge them.imo chelsea may suprise in the new season..something i'd rather see than city..

Last season was a walk in the park compared to the next one. City and Chelsea will be making big signings and Arsenal can never be counted out.

Spurs and Liverpool will be out the race early and Newcastle will be looking for a place in Europe.

Chelsea have got Marko Marin... don't forget about that. With Mata and Hazard, they don't really need Drogba, Malouda, Kalou and Lampard. They've got Essien back, and Obi Mikel to be the defensive midfield... and they have Ramires and Mereiles in the center... if they get Hulk, they'd be a real handful. Torres will probably return to his best if he plays with a creative player like Mata and Hazard. They'd be scary.

It definitely wont be a 2 horse race next season (like it was this time around). Apart from us and Man City challenging, Chelsea will definitely be, as well as maybe Arsenal - if they can keep RVP, and with Chamberlain, Podolski and Wilshere coming back. Plus Koscielny looks more solid each game he plays. Don't think Tottenham will challenge.. I expect them to lose Modric to Chelsea.

Are you for real, chelsea are looking strong for next season plus they are buying world class players and trying to get pep guardiola. Trust me they will be up there next season. Us on the other hand, if we get Kagawa which i really hope we do, plus Baines and a decent def mid we will up there too. Un-related question, does anyone know when / if we will be getting a new 3rd kit? I've seen a leaked pic of a white one which looks better then our tea towel home shirt. MUFC

It will not be a 2 horse race next season. Arsenal are SLOWLY coming back into the mix, especially with Wilshere back and podolski with chamberlain in a front 3. As with chelsea, not quite title contenders either but they will still push us.

No. I consider Chelsea as serious title contenders for next season. They'll spend heavily this summer. They've already got Hazard & will get Hulk very soon. They'll sign a few more players. Chelsea will be right up there challenging us & Citeh for the title.

Re: Can't see Chelsea as a threat next season

chelsea won 2 trophies, FA cup beating liverpool (expected) and CL, where the only good game of football they played was the 2nd leg against Napoli. against Barca in 2 legs their woodwork was struck 4 times and barca suffered from a lack of plan B (as many teams have realized this season) and Bayern Munich had only themselves to blame for not winning the CL (fact). When AVB left they were 5th in the EPL, eventual position 6th. RDM is the same guy that got sacked from West Brom, chelsea just benefited had a lot of wounded egos (roman included) which pushed them in both CUP competitions towards the end. also, chelsea will end up losing the player that got and won the CL final for them (drogba), his shoes will be hardest to fill. and people who think torres is back to his best are themselves at best, delusional. also they potentially they will sack the manager who got'em the silverware. i dont see RDM being able to manage these multi-million-pound egos next season. when they are actually expected to win. if RDM goes, i dont see the new manager having enough time to stamp his authority on a newly assembled group of individuals and win at the same time. the jury is still out on how good Hazard will prove in england. even jose mourinho with his unlimited resources at Madrid took 2 years to win in la liga with only one team to beat, after having bought ronaldo, kaka,di maria, ozil, contrao, khedira, carvalho to the already present alonso, casilias, ramos, pepe, benzema, higuian ... so after having lost drogba and maybe more and just getting hazard and hulk (when) will win them trophies with US, shitty, wenger's bunch of under 12s and a potentially rejuvenated liverpool (discounting spurs cause they wont hold onto modric and maybe bale), competing ... not likely. so for me chelsea still not as dangerous just cause they're splashing cash

to be honest, i think chelsea are a team who will think they are better than they actually are. to think that torres can fill drogbas boots is laughable. id say only cole, mata and chech could get in our united side. terry/luiz are liabilities, ivanovich is pretty good. ramires, mikel, lampard arent great and torres looks like hes going to leave at any time.

Chelsea are DEFINITELY a threat next season. If they secure the signings of Hazard and Hulk then they are 100 percent a title challenging team.
They have also signed Marin, and they are not finished Yet, by any means........They will sign another top Forward, and a defender or 2........
