So Nani has kicked it all off, leaving the door open to an exit, maybe a play towards getting a much, much bigger contract like Rooney did. The difference? Nani is no Rooney, and personally I think this should be the beginning of the end for him. The time is now right to sell him on, I've said this for months. He's an inconsistent player, he lacks team ethic, he has never really hit the heights we thought he would, and with 18 months on his contract, now is prime time to cash in on him, he'd command 25-30 million. A team like Paris, Juventus, Inter, AC is perfect for him.
We're getting in Kagawa who can play on the wing as well as central attack, we then have Valencia and Young, who by the way, I would start over Nani anyway lol. We also have Park, who I think it's probably now worth keeping on another season if Nani goes, just for extra back up. Welbeck can play out wide too, and finally, the perfect addition to our squad, Clint Dempsey on a free transfer from Fulham, or very small sum. Dempsey can play anywhere across the attack, so with him, we'd have plenty of options on the wings, we'd also be quids in from the Nani transfer.
Valencia, Young, Park, Dempsey, Welbeck, Rooney, Giggs, Cleverley. These are the players who could all play in attacking positions for us, across the top of a 4.2.3.1 or a 4.3.3. I'm very happy with those choices, we don't actually need Nani.
With the extra Nani money, we could perhaps even give the green light to make a big signing in central midfield, Modric, Strootman, Fellaini, Martinez etc. Or perhaps even go one further, and pave way to sign a striker, Falcao? Cavani? Luke De Jong? stranger things have happened.
