Re: Modric wanted to play for Chelsea!!!

i really dont think that after marin and hazard that they even want modric anymore. maybe even hulk is signing for them as well and they have mata. i may be wrong and chelsea might go crazy but i dont think that is the case. plus we are the only top club in england who can affordd modric and utilise him as a cm or an attacking mid. chelsea and city both use attacking and defensive mids and have lots of creativity whereas we dont, yes kagawa is a brill signing but wont be abke to dictate play from deep in big matches like modric as kaggy is an attackign mid, modric is a world class cm who would only improve our squad. plus im not sure if he wanted only chelsea, just that he wanted CL and chelsea bidded, so we all assumed that he had his heart set on chelsea but that may not be right. who knows, lets just wait till the start of the season, as im sure fergie will have wrapped up all the deals in the first month if not sooner.

I totally agree with u but with the premier league and the way it's going this kind of structure is nearly finished and as for Ffp rules it won't stop jack sh1t as teams will find a way to pay players and transfer fees at any price. So getting back to my point and reply modric at 26/27 years old is just looking for his final pay day with anyone more or less guaranteeing him champ league and 100k plus so if we pay it we will get the last 3/4 best years of him.

He wanted to move to Chelsea because they were going to triple his wages
United dont need players that are motivated by money, these players are never loyal e.g. Tevez....They come give u a good season ,maybe two and then are looking to move somewhere else where they can get paid more. I guess they just want to be able to say that they played for us. I like our young player policy,we make young talent into world class players, this is where u get loyalty.

One minute i think hes exactly what we need, the next i just think he would cost too much and wanted to go Chelsea anyway :/
exactly my thoughts...Modric wanted to go to Chelsea and I think we could spend less money investing on another young quality player that would come to United willingly. Dont get me wrong,he is a good player and would add to the team but I am just not sold on his ambitions.

I seem to remember, not sure if I'm right, after the Berbatov transfer Sir Alex said that would be the last of the big money signings
He was referring to age though. That will be the last big money spending on a player of that age.

Modric wanted to play Champs league. And as far as we know Chelsea were the only ones to show real interest in him. I think in a straight fight between the 2 he would probably choose Chelsea due to the fact its not a big move for his family. We don't know though.

We will all just ave to wait till this supposed interest is firmed up.

He has a lot of talent he does things that can't be taught

its not a worry that he wanted to join Chelsea. Its the fact spurs rejected 40 million bid for him. that would have to come down if we were to have any chance of getting him

You honestly believe every player currently at our club is a United fan? Or actually think that foreign players see Manchester as a more attractive place than London? Sadly neither of these are the case.
Totally Agree. Especially ROONEY. He is a total scum for handing in a transfer request a season or two ago. Then we had to bump his wage to 250K p/w. Unreal.
    Not another one?? FFS

Why do so many United fans want a player who only a matter of months ago,was so desperate to play for chelsea he put a transfer request to go to them, He even named Chelsea as being where he wanted to be,why risk so much money on a player who obviously wanted to go elsewhere? Ok to be fair to the guy when the request was denied and the season started he got on with it and took it pretty well, but I would rather sign someone who wants to come to United and not thinking they are coming because Chelsea dont want him now.

Yes, and until two weeks ago, Hazard was on his way to Man United until Chelsea intervened and offered him more money. No player who comes out to the papers stating where they want to go is 100% certain to go there. I don't see why Berbatov hasn't been mentioned in the deal. Spurs are in need of a prolific striker with Adebayor's future still uncertain, and he's looking for regular first team football. Not to mention, he knows the area from his earlier years at the club.

I didnt say he was a Chelsea fan nor did I say I only want United fans playing at United ,as everyone knows Wazza is a Everton fan. Its the fact he wanted to join Chelsea so bad he was apparently threating to go on strike. And I doubt Modric is a Chelsea fan anyway.

He wanted CL football and more money last year, same reason why he would opt for United this year

Yeah cos like footballers arent human are they, they arent allowed to change their mind..

12 months is a long time, it looks like Chelsea's interest may have dwindled somewhat so why shouldnt he consider a move to United if both club and player want the move to happen??

Chelsea may have been the only offer on the table for him at the time he said that so if he was desperate to get away from Spurs, which he was, and wanted CL football and didnt need to re-locate, why not say you want to go to Chelsea if they are the only club in for you?

More recently Eden Hazard said he'd be playing his football in Manchester next season...but he's playing in London, evidence that players can change their minds if other clubs come in for them. I suspect if United make a genuine offer for Modric now he wouldnt think twice about moving here.

True. Although there is a pretty big stumbling block. What nine out of ten people might consider be a decent offer would probably end up having an extra £10m added on knowing Daniel Levy. Can't fault him for his attitude on getting the most for his club, but he's notoriously difficult to deal with. It way well be a moot point if Modric would consider joining us, as his transfer request may be denied again. If we're even interested, that is.
i have heard of clubs rejecting 1 trasfer request. a second request just means the player categorically does not want to sstay. the fact that spurs would miss cl football for a second year, coupled with the fact that chelsea are strengthning meaning they are more likly to miss out next year again make tottenhams position even more difficult. also the the spurs faithful will ask why keep a player who dosent want to play. we saw the start spurs had last year when the modric chelsea story was all over the headlines. if modic hands in another request i think he is likely to leave this summer. levy would just drag it till deadline day to squeeze more money.
Probably. I do think that what happened last year, plus the debacle with Berbatov when he joined, might mean we're less likely to go back and deal with Spurs. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Chelsea were back in for Modric again, but I just can't see us going for him. I seem to remember, not sure if I'm right, after the Berbatov transfer Sir Alex said that would be the last of the big money signings (big in football terms, not everyday terms obviously). So the big transfer fee might put us off. I don't know though, wait and see as always I guess.
would welcome modric with open arms. Quality player. Why say modric wanted this modric wanted that.... HE only probably wanted chelsea for more chance in challanging for success. Now he will be sitting at the camp in the euros reading this "united ready for 22m swoop" and he will be thinkin yeppppp thats me! considering how we done in europe i think that he is essential. and im loving the Kagawa signing. peace!

Re: Modric wanted to play for Chelsea!!!

I think modric and chelsea were in advanced stages at the time.... I don't think there was any concrete bid from United. You cannot judge players for wanting to join a rival because United have not expressed interest in them! That is pretty harsh! We see many real quotes of players who hope and pray that the interest (sometimes made up by the press) from United is real however United do not bid enough for them or do not want them. There could be many players who want to come to us but our lack of interest means that they may join our rivals.
