Carrick, Scholes, Cleverley, Anderson
Those four are our central midfielder at the moment (not counting in Park, Giggs etc. etc. because... well, they just don't belong in the middle). In the reserveteam, though, we have the young Ryan Tunnicliffe. At 19, he is clearly one for the future, but he has everything he needs to succeed! With the signing of Nick Powell, I can easily see this as a future partnership. I know, I know, Nick i an "offensive midfielder", but what was Cleverley when he was younger? What was Scholes? I made my point...
As for now, we do have some decent options in midfield. I see a Carrick-Cleverley partnership in the coming season - as SAF has said Scholes and Giggs will be used less.I can see Carrick playing many games, with Anderson occasionally taking his role - and Tunnicliffe being introduced to the first team (unless he's loaned out).
As much as we may need it RIGHT NOW, I can't see us signing another central midfielder. We have such a promising partnership in these two young boys (as we did with Pogba before he left - Powell will take his role) , and just don't think it will happen, on such a minimal period of time - we're talking 2-3 years.
When Scholes retires next year - possibly Anderson being sold - the two youngster will see many first team opportunities, and quite possibly will be ready the next year.
