Why did it make you sick? Really just a change in venue.
Not so much the change in venue but the quote United see themselves has a media business rather than a sports franchize.
But nobody from the club or anybody involved said that. From the financial sector a media business is more appealing than a sports franchise. Not sure I see what the problem is.
I understand that m8, but at first glance at this article and so called source makes it sound like Manchester United the football club is being abused and took away from supporters.
nothing in the article really suggest that at all. The IPO thing is not new news at all. The Glazers being owners and expanding the marketing of the club is not new news at all. Nothing new in this article at all really, except the change in venue.

The part that should worry people is that with the change of venue is probably a delay in this happening and one of the reasons for going to Singapore, at least this was speculated, was to reach a broader part of the fanbase. While certainly in a global marketplace people from anywhere can get in on this IPO no matter where it is offered up, there was a reason the picked Singapore to begin with.

The media business, well if it is true, it is more about making the investment look more attractive to investors. And let's face it these shares are not all going to be bought up by fans of the club. But by making the company a broader ranged business with the sports franchise at it's center, it does look more attractive to investers. Especially when said sports franchise says it has the biggest fan base world wide, investors are going to want to see the club cashing in on that fame in everyway possible. Building the media network for the club is an ideal way to do that.

Got to agree with everything you said ,just turned my stomach when i read that quote :)

The thing is nobody from United is actually quoted as saying that, just an unnamed source.
