Portugal have crossed the Holland hurdle with a brilliant double by Christiano Ronaldo and an ecstatic performance from Nani and Pepe! Next they play Tcheck Republic in the quarter finals which I think they can overcome...... do you agree?
    Certainly do my friend

Nani and Ronaldo's team have to beat Holland to go through tomorrow night.? Do you think they can do so or will Holland react like an injured animal having lost both of their first 2 matches...?
Portugal don't have to win, a draw will do. Portugal have had the advantage over holland in previous tormaments and I think the Dutch will need to be at their best to beat them

heres one that thinks nani's team will do it,why, cause the dutch are sh1t in midfield and can't get the ball to rvp enough to score, you'd think with WS in there midfield this wouldn't bev the case, but it is he's shi1t.a shadow of the WS from 2yrs ago.im glad we didn't spend big on him now, never taught it at the time, but there u go..2nil portugal imo...

Depends what team they play really. If the start with the team that played Germany in the 2nd half they should win. The massive problem they have is their left back, Nani will rip him to shreds and since they dont play 4-4-2 and half they team is lazy the LB wont get much help.

Sneijder's easily been Holland's best player. Have you watched their two games?
The over all effect of having to accommodate him and Robben (two lazy flair players). Watch Spain, every player would tear off their own nuts to get the ball back, when Holland dont have the ball you've got a bunch of lazy flair players standing around wating for someone to win it back .
People dont really understand how and why Spain or Barca press. Firstly the idea that Barca press high is misleading.

Barca press the moment they lose the ball. they do this because they play a short passing game which means the moment they lose the ball they have decent numbers of players near to the opposition and its easier to press right away. However if you watch Barca when they lose the ball when they dont have numbers nearby they simply drop off. They then work off the ball to "encourage" the opposition move to an area of the pitch where they can then squeeze and press. Barca dont press high, they press when its appropriate, quite a big difference.

Also Sneijder has easily been Holland's best player in the euros. The fact that he made 10 keypasses(no played made more in any european championship since 82) and 6 in the next game says a lot.If only the strikers were more accurate....

Common sense is not so common

I'm going for a 2-2 draw and i think Germany will beat the Danes therefore the teams going through to the quarters being Germany and Portugal.
Germany being German, will calculate their chances all the time. Their tactics must be to lead the game by half time and see the progress at the other game. They will miraculously lose a goal to Denmark should Holland take the leads and ensure Holland will never go through, as they won't want to face a re-born Holland. Back to the original question - 2 years ago Portugal would have no chance at all, but now is really comparing which is the worser team. My bet is that Portugal will win hence Germany will sit on their lead till the end.

Re: Can Portugal cross the Holland hurdle?

Well, I would like to see Portugal to go through. Obviously Holland have to win so they'll probably play a more attacking side which could leave them susceptible to counter attacks, and with Ronaldo and Nani's pace, it could cause Holland a lot of trouble.

I'm going for Portugal to win 2-1. Nani and Pepe to score.
