    Re: Oh my goodness!

Maybe the reason for this is that Levy dosnt want to sell to a rival premier league club.Signing Modric would be good.If not him then maybe try and sign De Rossi who would like to play in England.

    Re: Oh my goodness!

This news kinda makes me happy, no disrespect to Modric, his a class player no doubt, but not one that i would fancy at Old Trafford, so the more stories linking him away from United the better, there are 3 players i would sign in a heart beat and all 3 could be available this summer at the right price, so long as the competition doesn't win but i won't be mentioning those names on here until news comes in, history on these forums show whatever name you mention will only get hammered because "we have no money" "high wage demands" "mercenary" "past his sell by date" "unproven in the EPL" "just signed a new contract" "not united quality" "they would want £xx million" jheez just to name a few ....

At the end of the day players will go to where they want to go either because they want to play for a specific club or because they want the money. If a player is just being a mercenary and going to whoever pays the most then I personally wouldn't want them at MU.

I dunno why we dont steal a march on everyone and bid 30 million for the player NOW. He is exactly what we need in midfield and with him and Kagawa along with the the squad from last year (minus Berba & Owen) I really think we will compete at the top of europe again next season..
Well making a bid not the same thing as having a bid accepted right? The Spurs and the player with his agent still might want to wait and hear what other clubs are offering. If you were a club owner or a player agent would always accept the first bid that came in if you knew other clubs were interested?

I kind of agree. I think some people get frustrated when we don't appear to succeed with our priority targets, however their perception of our priorities is defined by the order in which rumours are broken from the media, so the truth is we can't ever be sure who our priority target was. For example I don't think Kagawa was second priority to Hazard, as some people do. I think we was looking to sign him either way, but that is just my personal opinion and I couldn't be 100% certain unless SAF decided to let me know.
That's a good point actually. That the order of things happening is not the same as the order in which rumours/stories appear in the press. For instance with Hazzard, we all know we did not hear about him going to Chelsea until after Chelsea won the CL. But does that really mean Chelsea and Hazard did not have any discussions until then? Same as the way City being linked to a player right after we are, some feel that means City just targets players we are linked with, but does it really prove that?
Precisely, it would be a bit naive to think that Chelsea didn't scout and talk to Hazard before their CL success. Obviously it's possible but I doubt it.

All interested parties were most likely scouting him for a couple of years.

Apparently, the front-runner for the Spurs managerial job is convinced Tottenham are going to sell Modric - but to Real Madrid!

I guess we've lost out - Again!! I know its all just speculation and AVB hasn't been quoted saying this but I'm now slightly convinced that Modric may not grace Old Trafford next season. Look at at Hazard situation prior to Chelsea confirming him. Saha made comments about Hazard going to Chelsea and most United fans didn't believe him. Bilic said the same about Luka, and some of us still didn't believe him. Now AVB?!

Actually that is pretty much the way goes, every player who signs for another club is a MISS by United.
Yeah. I really dont get why we get like this after a player we wanted chooses another club. Just imagined if Kagawa suddenly cahanges his mind! People would say all he does is sell shirts in Asia! Imagine that!

PS: Selling shirts in Asia is a lovely lovely bonus!

Very very annoying to say the least.

Almost like we have the God given right to snap up any player who becomes available and SAF and Gill are to be blamed if they don't come here, regardless of the 100 plus reasons there may be for us "missing out on them".

Be grateful we have signed anybody in today's market.

Agree with everything you guys have put, spot on.

Kind of answered your own question, if he hasnt been quoted to saying these things then its not true. Its just the media making another story up but if he does go to real madrid then so be it. The poland manager said that Robert Lewandowski was going to sign for us but has he? no because it was aload of rubbish and a few days later his club came out to confirm this.
Leeman, you could be right, mate because the Lewy story turned out to be total sh1t. But AVB could soon be a Spurs insider which gives this story a bit more weight. but then again - no quotes!
