If a cat goes into a fish shop and has babies, are they fish? It's down to the individual who they chose to play for. Almost 10,000 Irish live in Oz and don't have citizenship of that country. Try telling them that their not Irish or the Irish Americans, African American, Italian Americans etc.
Got to be the worst comparison i've ever heard lol. If a cat goes into a fish shop he's going to eat all the poor little bleeders. In America it's said that there are about 50million of them with Irish blood. Perhaps the Irish FA should have a little looksee over there,

Not to sure how Foley is English considering both his parents are from Kerry. All of the other players you have mentioned too all qualify to play for Ireland through the grandparent / parent rule which would mean that they have Irish blood in them so to speak, which would hardly make them fully English. In fact they are just as much English as Irish which sort of makes your statement of them being English only a bit silly.

Wayne Rooney is of Irish decent but is considered English, I'm sure if you go through some of the other English players backgrounds too you'll find a few of them will have some parents or grandparents from other countries too. Ashley Cole's father is from Barbados for example.... Defoe's mother is from St Lucia, his father is from the Dominican Republic....Wellbeck's parents are from Ghana.....there was players that represented England in the past that weren't English too like John Barnes for example.

Of course they all obviously qualify to play for Ireland, but if Foley was born in Luton, ENGLAND that makes him English, he's never lived in Ireland, yes he's got Irish blood but he's predominately English and i'm sure that in his passport it says he's English. Don't get me wrong, i'm not having a go at anyone i was just replying to a previous post.

Toni Cascarino is a strange story. He qualified to play for Ireland because he had Irish granparents, but his mother later told him he was adopted and had no Irish roots at all, she then applied for Irish citizenship and got it, making Cascarino eligable again.

I know what your saying, but if someone is born and raised in England, they would grow up being an Englishman, no? (Having said that, i havent checked any of the names listed so i dont know if thats the case or not).

My grandmother was Norwegian, but im English.

On another note, where does Tony Cascarino fit?

tony cascarino is the man from nowhere!

You're joking, right? Germany? Half of their players had no idea what was going on...

With a name like rocky you must be a real hard man, it shows the way you insult people. You want a list of Irish players not born in Ireland here you go.

    Sean St Ledger

    Keiren Westwood

    Darren Gibson

    Simon Cox

    Jonathan Walters

    Kevin Foley

    Aiden Mcgeady

You want me to go further? ok i will, also non Irish to play for ROI, Mark Lawerson, Michael Robinson, John Aldridge, Ray Houghton, Mick Mccarthy, Phil Babb (hahahahahah), Jason Mcateer, and that's just off the top of my head.

You want me to go further? ok i will. Did you know that in the 1988 Euros ROI played with just 3 Irish born players and in the 1994 world cup they played with just 4??????

I think i've said enough, look forward to your reply.

When the English national anthem plays half the team don't sing. When the camera focus's on the player they might move their lips but no words come out, watch Rooney or Gerard for an example. It's hardly the most difficult anthem to learn.

At least the Irish have an excuse because half of them are English.

I too think that if you're proud to play for your country you should be belting out the national anthem.

Half the irish team are english? Go *** yourself ya stupid idiot, Name them ??

Ive noticed at the beginning of the Greece vs Germany game every single player sang their national anthem.

On the Irish team, there were max 6 players singing the Irish Anthem prior to any of their games.

Should players have to learn the anthems once they sign up for their national side?

I do not actually know the question but how many of the Irish players were brought up around there national anthem? (was the most polite way I could put it)

I think everybody should sing there national anthem when it is played.
