Re: Kagawa Declines our Famous no.7 Jersey. Link

I don't think Fergie cares what numbers players are, I mean why Owen ever got 7 is beyond me! Kagawa will get it or he'll get 23 and Cleverley will take 7. Simples

declines? Smile Smile where he said that?

here's what he actually said about the shirt number ... and you can read that HERE, on manutd.com ... not some bs football page like goal

    >> Kagawa was asked if his shirt number was discussed following some talk he would wear seven, but he appeared to quash those rumours.

"We did, but nothing will be confirmed till Sir Alex comes back," he explained. "Since I am very new to the club, I have no intention to get a 'big' number. Let's wait and see how it goes.

"I just told them my hope because I didn't know which numbers are available"

Ronaldo also turned it down when he first got here but Fergie made him take it, why didn't he do the same this time..

After Welbz is given the No.9 shirt when Berbatov leaves..I reckon Kagawa to take the No.19 .. An alternative would be Valencia would take the no.7 and kagawa takes the no.25 .. Just my opinion..

That was very humble of him, and a respectable decision. Guys take this as a great sign he realizes the prestige of this club!

Hold it just yet. It may be too soon to give him the no.7. Kagawa is largely untested. Though he did well for Borrusa Dortmund, should caution that Ji Sung Park did the same as well for PSV eindhoven. Thought that Ji Sung Park was an excellent signing but he did little on the field. Was impressed with his endurance, he was very aggressive in chasing the ball. However, when players passed the ball to Ji Sung Park, he passed the ball back ! Ji Sung Park lacked the boldness to tinker with his game. Therefore, he did not learn much from the game. As a $4 mil signing, nobody complained, anyways, Ji Sung Park sold enough T-shirts to Korean fans to help MU earn more money they can cover for his signing fees. Lets just hope that Kagawa is not another t-shirt sales person. Want to see Kagawa go out there and take some risks. Only with risk, one can learn, even if it means making mistakes.
Give me a break. Asians are not the same, mate. Park and Kagawa are completely different type players. Comparing PSV with German Champion Dortmund? Dortmund belongs to one of the top leagues in Europe and Kagawa was a key player of the team and one of the best players in the league. Dortmund shredded CL finalist Bayern Munich 5 times in a row. I am sure that you never or rarely watched how Kagawa plays.

You read it here first, he will be given no.23!
Michael Jordan style. He'll get us 6 championships and retire to play baseball in Japan.

It's humble yet very cocky that he turns down the 7 shirt and wants to make another number famous.

Park was a fantastic servant to our club and it's sad to think that people still think of him as a money grab. Barring this year, he has been one of our big game players and rose to the challenge. I will never think of him as someone who was signed for shirt sales and I pity those that do
I agree, I can't see how people bad mouth Park, i think he has done a great job at United.

Great idea! give 2 of our shirt numbers to an everton player and a sort of cabaye/sahin hybrid lookalike person.

Why do people think we are going to sign a marquee signing to give him the number 7 ? We offered it to Kagawa and he turned it down , so I dont expect us to sign another attacking player to wear that iconic number. IMO Kagawa is the marquee signing.
    RVP and Kagawa 40 million
    Torres 50 million
