    Re: welbeck's finishing

Indeed he needs to work on his finishing, but that's about it really,i think he needs to add a little bit more physicality to his game as well, other then that he is on the right track.

Danny Welbeck missed a shot last night from a position that I've seen many world class strikers miss from. Yes, his finishing isn't brilliant, but you just need to read Cleverbecks post...

The chance he missed yesterday was horrible,it truly was.He should of atleast have hit the target,he had time, space and was in a marvelous position but he didnt make it.
I dont think it was, it would have taken some strike to score with that chance. Running onto it at a decent pace, with the ball coming accross your body, 20 yards out, its a very difficult skill. There has been some "world class" players at this tournament who hev missed much easier chances than that. Ronaldo, Balotelli, van Persie to name just a few

Personally, im more encouraged by his finishes against Sweden and Belgium, both very different but but very difficult to pull off, and he made them look easy.

Hats off for your splendid irony display.. I newer said anything about down hill. If you look at the top ten strikers in the world right now, you will notice that many of them showed great skills at the age of 21-22... expecially if they were playing for one of the best teams in the world.... If you think that I hope Welbeck doesn't succeed at United, then thats the second thing you misunderstood in my post.
To suggest a player should be at his peak at 21 is amazing! Barring the odd couple, strikers wont be at the top of their game until at least their mid-twenties.

Also, to suggest that someone is at their peak, then when i say the only way is down is correct.

Can you not see his improvement, even in just the last couple of years? He's growing into a powerful, pacey striker, he's link up play is improving every game. He's taken to international football like a duck to water. He will improve year on year for many seasons to come.

A little more composure in front of goal and we will have a top class striker on our hands in a couple of years.

CLOSE TO HIS PEAK....... Normally I hate people who have to write in caps, but you just insist on taking my words and making them into something different. Of cause hes development won't be over at 21, but his goal ratio and finishing worries me (expecially when taking into account that he plays for a top team).. I'll be thrilled if all of you are correct, and im wrong. But I have seen better strikers than Welbeck only being used as rotation squad players at United and other top 5 teams in the world, therefor he is not at the level, I believe we need in our first pick front striker at the moment.. We can agree or disagree, but please spare the insults.
He's 21 why should be close to his peak in what world? His finishing is also clearly improving and he's brilliant at other parts of his game. He can be a top top striker.

Opta Sports ‏@OptaJoe 91% - Danny Welbeck's pass completion rate of 91% at Euro 2012 is level with Mesut Özil and Andrés Iniesta. Prospect.

    Cleverbeck.:
At the same age Ronaldo managed 12 goals in 42 games. Welbeck managed 12 goals in 40 last season.

Don't give me the "yeah but we knew he was going to be world class"- no you didn't/
But Welbeck is a striker...When Ronaldo was 21 he played on the wing. You cant compare them.
    Don`t hate on my opinion!

what are you trying to prove.. first of all Ronaldo scored 23 goals in 2006-2007 when he was 21, second of all he was playing a a midfielder/winger not the front striker.. pointless

I think if he keeps on progressing as he has done the last couple of seasons, he will be top draw in a couple of years.

Also, i dont get into slanging matches. Dont see the point, it takes something quite extreme for me to use insults.

but we can't rely on Welbeck sudently getting much better - he should have been close to his peak now, with the amount of played games and his age...

Lets be honest,Welbeck needs to work on his finishing. That was a fact way before Euro12,we saw it last season. The chance he missed yesterday was horrible,it truly was.He should of atleast have hit the target,he had time, space and was in a marvelous position but he didnt make it.

Welbeck can be a very good player for both England and United, but needs to be more clinical in front of goal.

Do you expect him to score every half chance he gets? Because no player in the world does that. His finishing for England has been pretty good actually One chance vs Belgium scored with a delightful chip. One chance vs Sweden scored with a brilliant flick. He missed a half/quarter chance vs Italy and you actually make a thread. Really??
