Pirlo is world class. Clearly. Schoels is wolrd class. clearly....but having to 33+ players running around is not sustainable. 5 years ago i would have given my left..leg..for such a midfield but not now. That being said he completely dominated the game, I mean he saw things that none of the rest of us could see, kinda like scholesy. England was outplayed fair and square unfortunately and did all they could with the assets they had at the time. I would like to see a new generation of players come through...jones, smalling, cleverley, wilshere, welbeck, mcechran (can never remember how to spell that chelsea lads name) etc.
Very good observations Scholes is living on a borrowed time. He' s not so good he is in the team just because manager wants to see him playing.

I am sure most of us watched England vs Italy last night. There is only a word to describe that game, Pirlo. I don't even know how to describe him anymore. I know Iniesta and Xavi are very good players. But Pirlo makes me feel that they are overrated. Sign him up, Fergie. I hope to see Pirlo and Scholes playing alongside in our midfield. PS I am not criticising Iniesta and Xavi, i am just using them to describe how phenomenal Pirlo is.

Pirlo looked so good because he's playing along other 3 good, strong and energetic players in the midfield these are machiso and de rossi. But he plays with scholes it will be a poor show, beacuse scholes lacks energy, speed and cannot play with same same temple for more than 30 minutes. If SAF wants to bring Pirlo to united he should also get other better players not scholes.

did any of you praising Pirlo ever stop to think the main reason he looked so great was because of how bad our midfield is? Combine old and average mid's with an aging left back who's lost his pace and passing abilities and then throw in a horrible right back and it is a miracle we weren't destroyed in the first 45 minutes. Then throw in an average at best manager with no tactical ability and it is a surprise we even made it to that game.

No doubt Pirlo is a top player but we[England] stood off him too much and allowed him to dicate the game.

Pirlo turned things around with his penalty kick. At that point England were set up to win. His cheeky chip over Hart demoralised the English players and Hart for the rest of the shoot out. To have the skill and strength of character to do that under such high pressure circumstances was amazing.

Only seen similar from Zidane in the past.

yeah that's a great idea, play 2 CM's who are "getting on a bit", don't run much, mainly sit back making long passes, aren't too good defensively... *please note the sarcasm*
lmao talk about an injection of pace into our midfield.

We all know Xavi and Iniesta play tiki taka football whereas Pirlo and Scholes play long passes that require vision and technique, which i admire a lot.

Pirlo is out of this world. He completely controlled that game for 120 minutes, while others much young than him looked tired after 80 minutes. I would definitly welcome him here, even considering his age. But both him and Scholes on the field¨, would definitly take an extremely tallented defencive midfielder as the third midfielder behind them.
