Re: I know people are screaming out for a big signing

Hello all first post but would just like to say that although there is a lot of negativity on this page I am encouraged by SAF this summer. Kawaga and Powell signed and with the euros coming to a conclusion I can see one or two more signings. would like to say it does make me laugh when I read certain peoples opinions on MU and SAF could you imagine our club if SAF had never taken the manager post? We would not even be dreaming of a potential 20th title next season!! As for our current squad I realise there is room for improvement - (there always is) and I was disappointed with our performance in Europe but we missed out on the title by goal difference and two minutes!!!!!! We are not far behind a club that has had money poured into it for the past few seasons and had a similar fate in Europe! I know people are screaming out for a big signing but trust SAF he is in the last year or two of his career and will not want his last memory of managing be city finishing ahead of us and winning everything. He will want to go out on top and that is something I am sure he will achieve.I also see many of us like the new faces at Old Trafford for next season, but fail to know that even with those new faces, we shall need a very good coach to bring the best out of them or even better. For the moment i dont think we have that sort of person which is why for me, i think a new number two is the most important signing we need. Dont like this idea of bringing in good players and then try to turn them into wingers. Fact is that is all we tend to do now days. We mention the younger players, but these boys need inspirational kind of players to learn from so they play for the shirt with pride. The honest truth is that Carrick has gotten a chance no other midfield acquisitions have been given but he is still no hope (just gutless): even failed to make the England team a player whose featured consistently in the team. Being that he is getting older, i pray Cleverly stays fit and takes over his place.
Kagawa is a HUGE signing! Why can't people see that? Honestly, he's one of the most exciting midfield prospects around, no matter what, 17 goals and 13 assists as a midfielder is UNREAL in the german league.

Are you people just too blind to see past the transfer price/wage bill. Why go for those overpaid prima donnas, when you can have a humble lad like this, who appreciates that a club as large as ours wants him. When we make a big signing, i.e. Berbatov, you slap unrealistic expectations of him, then call him a flop and say "OH WE SHOULDN'T HAVE SIGNED HIM!!!!!" but when we make a genuinely class signing like kagawa, all of a sudden fergie doesn't want to spend? Seriously guys, not cool. Also, if our younger lads, who have been here when scholes and giggs were in their prime, cannot draw inspiration from them, I am at a loss for words.

Finally its not that Carrick didn't get picked, its just that he withdrew from the squad and rightfully so. Some people see it as turning his back on his country. but I see it differently. For his whole career, he's lent his services to his country, only to be overlooked time and time again. Now, he's at an age in which he should be withdrawing from international football, because even a small injury may take a month to heal. He would risk missing the entire pre season and for what? Sitting on a bench watching england get hammered while the manager refuses to sub you in?

Let's not forget 2 things. Firstly, carrick said he would participate if he would be promised first team starts. NOT EVERY GAME. Just the guarantee that he would start games. Secondly, players get injured in training. Barry got injured in training that's why he was forced to withdraw. If he's not going to start games, there's no point risking it. He's contributed enough.

    Great post mate really was.

You will spend countless days trying to get it into peoples head how big the Kagawa signing actually is because too many are still blinded by his low value. Them stats are absolutely astonishing and we can only count ourselves lucky to have a player with such massive potential in our team. Very shrewd business from SAF and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was waiting for the lad's contract to run down with a reminder to him / his agent occasionaly that we would make the move this year, whilst keeping it relitively under the radar. Great signing but no matter what you throw at them they will never listen even when the stats speak for themselves. Certainly wont be a fan saying "told you so" like some of the imature children on this forum when he comes good early on. Not many, if any, better than him out there at present at what he does, especially given the money spent it would take easily double that to get anyone even close.

Too true about the "world star" fan boys who long for us to spend 30-40M on a player only then to turn around and slate the manager and so on if it doesn't come good. Fans should be happy with whatever the manager brings in because we all know its what's right for us - when has he ever let us down really. I'd take 3 of his Bebe flops if thats what it takes to unearth a gem like the Pea. Genuine players who appreciate what opportunity they have been given to play here, play for the shirt and for the love of the fans. These are the players that go on to become greats, not your £28M Veron or £30M+ Berbatov (I will dicount certain members of course in Waz, Rio etc but you get my drift) but your Solskjaer's and more recent Chcharito's that remain in fondest memories as the years go by. Hell CR7 was what £14M?

As for Carrick, well it takes no discussing you are 100% spot on mate. But you are talking to brick walls on this front so may want to save your breath!

I think Kagawa is a big signing just cause we didnt cost us 30 odd million dosnt mean hes not any good in fact this lad is up there with the best midfielders in the world and can only get better. Its not all about spending big money etc but at the end of the day if we want to sign players like Rodriguez for example then other teams seem to demand high asking prices just cause its us but at the end of the day big players do cost alot.

OF THE FOUR BEST TEAM IN EUROPE, we have only one representant!!!!! What a Shame for the most popular club club in the world football!! NO WONDER WHY WE ARE ON THE DECLINE.... WE CANNOT SIGN SPANISH AND GERMAN PLAYERS!!!!
Lol this made me laugh Isn't David De Gea Spanish? And in any case.. what makes you think were in decline? When have we EVER had a top class spaniard or german in our side? Ron Robert-Zeiler was never going to be our number 1 despite his good form of late. Spaniards... Pique was a kid and the only other major one i can think of is... Ricardo...erm yeah. So by your reckoning because we dont sign spanish on german players we're in decline? In that case my friend we have been in decline since we were formed... I reckon 19 titles and 3 European Cups suggest otherwise
    Hahaha beautifully put my mate!
I'll reply if I may. Firstly, the measure of "decline" is not points tally, its comparison of todays team and results with those of recent sides. We measure by United standards. The fact that Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool were not in the PL running this year and City wobbled no doubt contributed to our final position. Our cup competition exits were humiliating to say the least - and being drubbed by City of all sides at OT of all places told me something more than points tally. Barca set the benchmark and after 2 CL final defeats by them it was clear we needed to strenghten but what happened - ignoble exit at the hands of Basle Tell me, how do you compare this team with those of recent history. For me, we seem to have lost the balance and blend. We have aging legs and young prospects but I look at the core and think, other than Rooney, who do we really have. Its the likes of Nani and Andersen. What players would you say are automatic first choice - like keano, giggs and scholes once were. I'm not sure any player names automatically goes on the team sheet. That said, if the hopefuls turn out as hoped we are okay but if not - we may be in the brown stuff. And remember, its not just a matter of how many points, its how we get those points - attractive play and entertainment is a criteria all United sides are measured against. I am concerned we are slipping down to an Arsenal level when we need to rise to the challenges presented by Europes top clubs. And less of the childish insults laddie - it devalues the merits of your post.

I'm not screaming out for a big name we just need a proven cm! Modric would be great but I'm not fussed If he doesn't come. I'd be happy with stroodman, M'vila even a fully fit Rodwell would be great we just need a new face to liven things up

Price tag is no guarantee of success. Surely what you should be saying is "I am screaming out for a quality CM no matter how much he costs be it 5mil or 30mil"
Was thinking the same about that line.
NOT to mention that when you say you want a player signed who costs 30mil, you really are saying you want a big name signing, because well who is it that is going to cost that much?
Hahahah exactly mate. To cost £30M you are going to be a somebody realistically.

Unless he has hopes of signing Carrol?? PMSL!

exactly, why is it so hard to fathom that players ability goes hand in hand with his value/price tag. (Ofcourse there are some exceptions but this is how the world works)
The equation isn't quite that simple is it. Some players have inflated price tags, that are not necessarily reflective of their ability.
Hence the "some exceptions" part and the "Carrol" part.

No unknown player is ever going to cost £30M NEVER!! That's what we were getting at. I am not one of these people who judge a player by their valuation, if that was the case, Kagawa is totally useless when compared to Torres!! No player gets to have these price tags before showing they are capable of decent things, but it's by no means a way of judging a player on his ability too seriously.
