How will Baines not push out Evra? What does Evra have that Baines doesn't?
Are you Having laugh,When Baines pushes Ashley Cole out of the England team, maybe we will have a look at him then.I would take a out of form Evra every day of the week rather than spend 15 million on a mediocre player at the age of 27,who's level is Everton,Wigan, and stokes of this world
Baines will push Evra out because, believe it or not, he's now a far more accomplished player than Evra. He defends better, assists more going forward, has ability from set pieces which Evra doesnt possess and people need to realise that Evra's best days are behind him.

If you honestly believe if Evra was English he would push Ashley Cole out of the England team you're in cloud cuckoo land mate, Cole's one of the best left backs in the world so dont make it sound like Evra could do that because he couldnt. Your saying his level is Everton etc well what level is Michael Carrick at? Manchester United? Its just he cant get in the England team either because the world beaters that are Scott Parker and Gareth Barry are keeping him out....Carrick's better than both, you know it, i know it and he should have gone to the Euros.

Using England as a barometer for gauging how good Baines is at the moment kind of weakens your argument. If he joins United he still may not overtake Cole because as explained, there arent many around who are better but Baines would become a better player and then who knows....

Ok Then,if Baines far more accomplished player than Evra, why have Two clubs in England who need a left back more than us,spurs,Aresenal have not bid for him then, even if you take the cole factor out of the situation no top club in England or Europe want him says it all really doesn't it.Like i said in my previous posts if Baines played for us he would get taken to the cleaners every week, you need to have more in your locker to play for utd than a team like Everton who set out in every game not to lose. When a team has 12 men camped in their own box,you need something more than a left back who can only defend, otherwise Gabby Heinze would still have been in our first 11,who was a better defender than Evra. The sad truth is our expectations for players arriving at OT have fallen that low that, people like Baines can be even thought of playing for our great club.
Spurs have Assou Ekotto and Danny Rose, they are covered. Arsenal put faith in youngsters and have Gibbs coming through, Arsene also prefers Frenchmen.

Well if you believe the rumours then Bayern Munich are interested in him, as for other clubs they don't need him as they have decent enough left backs.

He does have more in his locker he has free kicks, corners, penalties, a decent cross on him rather than a certain someone, he will get forward and back efficiently, he generally doesn't pick up injuries and most of all he can defend, at some point next season we will have to defend.

Wow Absolutly incredible, that you can think baines would get ahead of Evra in the team, yet Ekotto and rose are better than baines,if Arsenal have Gibbs coming through, don't we have Fabio and fryers coming through.Bayern wouldn't touch Baines with a bargepole as they have one of the best left backs in world football,in lahm,if utd did sign Baines, this is how the list of left backs in world football would read,at club level of course. Barca-Alba Chelsea-cole Bayern-lahm Madrid-coentrao Man utd-Baines Looks a bit embarrassing doesn't it when you look at that line up at other clubs.

Baines at 15 million is silly, yes he is a good player and yes he has EPL experience. But the truth is that he would not get any better. In fact I wlll be surprised if he can match his current level once he makes the step up. My qualms is that if we are going to bring in a left back at that kind of money and age he should be a considerable step up from our current left back evra, and I don't think baines is that guy. tbh it is the same issue I had when I heard we were signing young last season at about 18 million, while he young is a good winger at utd you can't help but feel we could have gotten better quality at that price range.
    Well said.

Thats not answering the question, explain to me how Baines is 'mediocre'.

As for getting into the England team he has Ashley Cole in front of him who is one of the best left backs in the world and has 100 apps under his belt in Internationals, hardly going to be dropped is he. If we are talking Internationals then Evra has been pushed out by Clichy, which says it all really.

united have missed out on the bargain of the summer £10/11m for alba
IMO the bargain of the summer is kagawa for £12m

Another case of an English player way over rated and way, way over priced. Even with the current inflated prices, Baines should not be worth more than 6 - 7 million

If we buy Baines I will burn my season ticket. Over-rated and over-priced. Just like another supposed Utd target, Modric.

Like I said its evident Alba ONLY wanted the Barca move hence the low price.

Andy, why is settling for Baines not good? We dont need a young LB and if anything we need a short term stop gap to help us out ready for the future as I am not sure how long Evra has left and Baines would last say 2-3 seasons longer maybe. That would give plenty of time to make sure that Fabio, Fryers and Blackett are all ready to step up.

This. Nothing more I can add.
