Going by reports utd getting turned down by every cm they have so far gone for. Then the ones that seem there on there way utd come out and say no we are not looking at him we dont want him. If this is the case saf is not going to bring in a cm just to say he got one. He wont get one if he cant the the one he wants so id say if he can get one in. Then i think we will see Davide Petrucci in our first team

Jones is not a Central Midfielder he is here to replace Vidic and is more of a Defensive mid IMO..Ando and Cleverly are injury prone...Giggs and Scholes will not play a major role this season..Fletcher still nowhere near returinig....So that aside we are looking at Carrick, Scholes, Cleverly, Anderson as the only natural CM .....there is real need for another CM

Tunniclife is a good replacement for Fletchers absence.....Powell and Petrucci could cover for Ando and Cleverly's injuries...But when comes to Champions league games none of these are at that level yet... So there is a real need for an experienced CM

If you check out most premier league squads, no other team quite has that sort of depth who can play in centre midfield. We've clearly got great options there. Also I don't think it's best to bring in someone at this time because it will clearly affect the development of Tom Cleverley. He needs to play now, we have nurtured him in the perfect way and he's ready to play for Man United. He is very highly rated in the game, he has shown great potential and if you bring someone like Moutinho in then Cleverley's opportunities will be more limited. A centre midfield 2 of Carrick and Cleverley would be a fantastic combination IMO. Unfortunately they were injured so when Sir Alex needed to rotate his squad he brought in Jones & Giggs and again they lacked mobility and the passing skills, composure against the relentless pressing of the fantastic Bilbao team under Bielsa.

The way I see it, Midfield is a lot more covered than it was previously! first of all, we have Scholes, Cleverley, Anderson, Carrick, Jones who all can play there, we have Fletcher returning from illness as another option, we have signed two attacking midfielders that can cover CM, and Powell is only 18 so who knows whether he will be converted into a midfielder or not. Don't get me wrong, I think a very good midfielder would be useful but at the moment, I'm not sure where this player will come from, if we can get one then great, if not, then we have plenty of cover if we also have Petrucci and Tunnicliffe as cover. I think we have plenty of cover, the only question is whether the quality is there.

Personally, I think Kagawa could be used there if required, but I think hes been the type of player we've never had, like City have Silva and Chelsea have Mata, a player with first touch under pressure. I'm looking forward to see this season because of that, I think we need a left-back, as Evra one injury would be increasingly worrying. Like Fletcher, another player not been mentioned here is Giggs, plenty of cover in my opinion. Fergie has mentioned bringing in a couple more players, at the moment, I'm looking forward with the team we have got, we have sold Park, Owen, Fabio (Loan), and seen youths leaving, I'm looking forward to see how our team shape up, and what youngsters we get to see, including these next 2 signings

If we don't get a centre midfielder its not the end of the world. Lets not forget Anderson, Cleverley and Fletcher were injured throughout most of season. If they can stay fit for next season, we could be alright.

You've just pointed out how much of a risk three of our current midfielders are, Fletcher still has no idea when he can even start to consider returning to training, yet you think SAF is going to go into what could be his last season or at least one of his last, having lost the title to City of all people on the basis of "...we COULD be alright."

No everything seems to think were after another midfielder but we might not be! I'm not really sure we need one. With Scholes staying for another season were not desperate for a centre midfielder we've got loads and many good ones coming through in the reserves like Tunny & Petrucci.

Two things mate, one, we don't have loads of central midfielders, not that we can even 50% say will be available for us for the new campaign. Two the best way to bring in a new signing at a time of transition like this, as SAF knows and has always done, is to allow an overlap phase between old and new, therefore you want a new midfielder in NOW if Scholes is leaving for good after this coming season.

Also the one thing that was obvious from the displays of Carrick and Scholes last season was that they have enough combined class to run things against the lesser teams but if we come up against real quality and or quick energy packed opponents they just don't have the energy and mobility to compete and we looked very vulnerable.
