Re: United close in on Lucas Moura deal(soccernet.espn)

I agree with ur comments... u can never be sure a player will be a success even when they have proved themeselves in tough leagues like veron as you mentioned. Also there are many players who have excelled in the premier league despite playing in weaker leagues before, like javier hernandez, ronaldo, nani, vidic etc. I dont think we should be looking at lucas and saying he can do it in brazil but not in the premier league. He's doing well on an international level with brazil so thats a good indicator. Many so called good premiership players are incapable of playing on an international stage. Look at the engalnd team. I believe the kid would be a success at utd as He has bags of abilty and pace, he is short but reasonably built and small non physical players can still adapt to the premiership like modric. I hope we sign him but I know this will be difficult. We have been missing a player with real star quality ever since we lost ronaldo.

I dont think we will go for either, or that type of midfielder. If anyone, it will be someone to compliment Carrick, rather that those two who both play the Carrick role (all be it in a different way).
Surely an alternative to Carrick would be necessary though? Imo none of our other midfielders plays that sort of game, meaning we need Carrick for EVERY match! The reason I and many stress for this M'Vila type player is to give us options and to ensure Carrick gets a rest as well as adding steel to our midfield!
I agree and with Arsenal pulling out of a move for M'Villa it would make it all that much easier to swoop in for him. He and Carrick together would allow freedom to field players like Lucas, Kagawa, Nani and Rooney together.
That's the jist of it yeah. It gives them that freedom so they don't have to keep looking over their shoulder. An enforcer would be brilliant imo, and if Arsenal have genuinely pulled out M'Vila's there for the taking. As for Lucas he ain't here yet by any means ;) I think we'll only get him if Nani leaves tbh.

Where is he gonna play, if we do sign him? Maybe 4-2-3-1 with Valencia/Nani--Kagawa-Moura behind Rooney?

Whatever happened with, errh, Joe Allen? We'd get him for a nickel and generate millions in shirt sales alone.

Because everyone knows and cares who he is. Not just a few, no, everyone.

Guys hep me out with something. For the sake of not starting another thread.

I am excited about being linked with such a good player, but don't you think we need a different type of player?

Carrick is 30, do y'all not think we need to find another Defensive/possession type midfielder?

I may be wrong so someone correct me (nicely if possible). Are Petrucci and Tunni the type of player that could replace Carrick later on down the line? Or are they different positions?

If they play the same position, then by all means, sign Moura up, but if not I think we would be better suited in getting a Martinez/M'villa/Strootman type?

    Anyone?

    big guy:
How will we fit him into our team ? I think Nani will certainly be leaving if Lucas was to join us.

The best system I can think of to include him is in a 4-2-3-1 with Lucas , Kagawa and Valencia making up the 3 with Rooney ahead of them. And I dont even think that system is too great because of the fact that Valencia isn't versatile enough. That system would work great with Nani instead of Valencia though. What a fantastic interchangeable front four that would be.

So I really just cant see how we can realistically play Lucas and Kagawa in their preferred positions together in our team. If only Valencia had a good left foot ....

This is the million dollar question mate. Right fom the Gaitan rumours early on, through Hazard, Rodriguez and now to Lucas, the question that has been on everyones mind, how will they all fit and where will they all play?

Certainly spent many hours thinking of formations and had numerous convos on here trying to figure it out - the only certainty we can safely say is that we are defo opting for a formation change next year and that's not exactly "news" lol. There are defo worse things to be worrying about than where we play so many top top quality attacking players lol so suppose we just got to be happy we have so many options, even if that means we have futher neglected the CM position for another year.

I need to be very careful with this whole Lucas malarkey, I got way ahead of myself and overly excited about Hazard (Lewisno9 & Rooney10CAM can more than vouch for that lol) all based on rumours. Don't want a repeat of that any time soon, but seeing posts like this really doesn't help matters PMSL thanks mate!!!
Haha! Just try and take it with a pinch of salt, I know he's a great talent and what I'm suggesting is pessimistic, but it really does avoid disappointment in the end, but still results in joy if we get our man!
Haha I do take with a massive handfull of salt, never mind a pinch but can't help myself - no matter how true the story is, and tbh, no matter who the player is!! But when it's a lad like Lucas i just go into overdrive and start picturing him in the red and tearing up those Blue scum.....In my mind I know it's all fantasy just can't contol it lol!!
LOL everyone wants to fantasise the gruel in blue being humiliated, but imo we don't need Lucas for that now we have Shinji! ;P

    RVP and Kagawa 40 million
    Torres 50 million
