Re: Are we seriously going to sign Robin van Persie?

Really hope we don't sign him. He is a quality player.but too injury prone for my liking, too old at the money I imagine it would cost. It just makes no sense at all.
He has a lot of talent he does things that can't be taught

If we put this "hinder Hernandez and Welbeck" aside (I think it will hinder them though..) What formation would we play ? And don't say we can rotate... Cause Rooney and RVP would never accept that... but if we play them both, were would Kagawa fit in ? He could play as a winger, but I would strongly suggest not doing that.... He should be playing in a CAM spot....

Can someone tell me how this would possibly work ? I'm open to suggestions, I might change my mind, but I don't see any possible solution to this....

Other than that, I have other problems with this transfer as well........ My problem with this, is that we have a lot of room for improvement on some of our positions... But the ST position is not one of them IMO.... And I can't see us buying both RVP and another player except maybe a LB like Baines...... Lucas would be a good signing for the future, and we could do with another winger too.... The CM need improvement.....

Same formation as last night,4-2-3-1 with RVP and Rooney upfront and Kagawa in the whole just behind them. ............................DeGea.................................... ..................Rio.....................Vidic.......................... ..Rafael....................................................Evra ............................Carrick................................ ........Valencia.............................Young .............................Kagawa........................ ......................Rooney........RVP.................... Something like this looks awesome,Valencia and Young can squeeze closer towards Carrick when needed and get on the wing when possible aswell.
Obviously Rooney and RVP are upfront, but it keeps on jumping alongside Kagawa lol.

In my opinion these quotes are probably nothing more than an answer to a question, nothing to do with whether Steve Bruce knows something we don't. I still think it's very likely the RVP will end up at City, despite their claims that they aren't selling Eden Dzeko. Don't know who we will sign! Could well turn out that we don't get either of the "one or two" that Fergie said we could still be in for.
I am sure David Gill said this will be an interesting summer,I must say it already has been so and we are only in the first month.I hope we will all be happy United fans by the end of the Window.
happy fans I hope so indeed

I think Arsenal would prefer to sell to United over City as Wenger is truly at his breaking point with how they have harvested his players in the recent windows. Still I doubt this transfer will come off and I think they may really push him towards Juve.

Re: Are we seriously going to sign Robin van Persie?

I hear we are confident we will sign van persie. I do not think we really need him. I do think he would improve our team but alot depends on the system we play. If we play 4-4-2 then fine it will work. But if we play 4-2-3-1 then I think he will upset the balance or we will have to sacrifice another big player from our team. For example in a 4-2-3-1 he would be best right upfront as the striker, Rooney would never be dropped therefore he would play behind. Probably valencia on the right and either nani or cole on the left or possibly nani on the right.. either way two of these three would occupy the two position on either flank. So what about kagawa? I know he can play on the flanks but he really is best suited to playing of the front player in the centre. There wouldnt be much point using him on the wing. The situation would get even more complicated if we were to sign lucas moura. Dont get me wrong I want moura as he is an exceptional talent but I'm just thinking where will we fit all these players. With van persie I dont think hes really needed therefore we should really offer no more than 15 mil considering the fact that his contract is almost up. No one seems overly keen on spending the money being asked for by arsenal therefore we should stand our ground. If we got him for that price I would say its a good bit of business. If they want more we should just stand firm, if he goes somewhere else than so be it as we can afford to be abit nonchalant as he is not severly needed. We have Wellbeck who is becoming a real player although needs get himself in more goalscoring positions, never the less hes a real player. Hernandez a real poucher and bebatov I think is absolute class, It pains me to see him always on the bench as he is real quality. I really think we should focus more attention on the centre of midfield where we are average by our high standards. Fletcher may not return and he was a great player for us. Carrick is hit and miss although he can still do a decent job for us. scholes is the master but its not fair to put all our expectations on a man his age, similarly with giggsy. They should be players we use sparingly to get the most out of them. Anderson is frustrating, he hs all the attributes but seems to lack confidence, cleverly is promising but hasnt really got going yet due to injuries. Basically what im getting at is van persie is not urgently needed also hes 29 next month, If we offer then lets keep it reasonable and not let arsenal hold us to ransom.

Makes no sense, unless were playing with two strikers this season which we will probably not, makes no sense
Even if we did play we with two strikers it would most like be the Rooney and Welbeck partnership, can't see Sir Alex breaking that up for RVP.
Really? I think he'd drop Danny in a heartbeat for probably the top striker in the game. Still don't see this transferring coming off mind you.
RVP is a great player no doubt about it and at this point obviously more established than Welbeck but having seen those two partner each other last season and the way Sir Alex speaks about that partnership I don't seem him breaking it tbh. Welbeck is a Manchester lad as well and SAF will want him to do well here, that means giving him oppurtunites so he can develop.

Sir Alex is a great admirer of RVP I believe but he usually puts more faith in his players than bringing someone in, I don't see why this would be different.

i can see why because welbeck is not good enough yet and if we want to compete for eveything we need him with berba going and macheda never gonna make it wake up teams are seriously strengthning around us we need to do the same to compete and sir alex has relised and i think its about time fans need to aswell van persie will take even rooney to the next level and we will actually see a deadly team 1nce again front 3 of kagawa rooney and van persie is seriously scary
Still do you think Sir Alex would rather pay 20m for a world class player or continue with Welbeck's development and turn him into a top goal scorer.

I don't see Arsenal selling to us either, we have shown we can compete with the current squad and our attacking talent his the strongest part of the side where as other areas do need improvement, it just seems odd to me.

mate i dont think arsenal have much of a say if van persie wants to come to us and we have bidded they either keep him or lose out on 20 million clubs have no control over players these days in this situation im sorry but your wrong van persie wants to win titles and he nows coming here he will so this transfer is very possible and welbeck should develop more around van persie because he should always be aiming to get better to get a place in the team no player walks in to a team as big as ours im sorry we should have the best players in the world all competing for spots and welbeck and hernandez aint good enough to lead the line if rooney gets injured van persie is fullstop
Most people were expecting to see Kagawa behind Rooney, so what happens to Kagawa if we sign RVP. Hernandez has dipped since his first season, I hope he isn't a one season wonder but it doesn't look like he'll be much more than an impact player.

In terms of Arsenal, they will sell to anyone but us and City will be interested, RVP might prefer us but with them winning the PL and waving top dollar in his eyes then I wouldn't be suprised to see him go there, im not doubting his ability at all just that I don't see the desire for him when other areas are more important to us.

Perhaps because slightly more intelligent people will realize that signing him basically destroys a local lad's confidence who has just had a great season.
Thats not intelligent people thats biased people towards local players. You would be the kind of person in a couple of months time with a Van Persie jersey. The guy is class. Wouldn't ever say no to a class player no matter who it is. Utd is a big club with big expectations. You have to earn your place in the team. Look at Berba and Hernanadez last year when Welbeck was playing. if thats enough to knock him off his game he is not up for the challenge at playing at a top club.
Your entitles to your opinion but you are totally wrong in your judgement of me. I don't want RVP here at all and i certainly wouldn't be wearing a Van Persie shirt. At no point have i doubted his quality my point is that he is almost 29 and vastly experienced and is obviously going to be a better player than Welbeck. Imo my opinion is genuine and not biased at all. I know Welbeck has a great deal to learn and is far superior to RVP right now I am just saying if people give Welbeck a chance to develop he could turn out to be a class act. Van Persie would be a stop gap signing that would perhaps last 2-3 years. Van Persie as far from class when he was 21. Welbeck could be our striker for easily 10 more years and he will develop constantly over the years. Signing world class players is not always the best option. I for one have complete faith in Welbeck.
why is everyone saying he is 29 he is 28 29 in august and if you wouldnt want a player of his qualiy here because you prefer to see a local lad walk into our team and have no competition then i dont think you should be supporing a team who as huge expectations im sorry welbeck isnt good enough yet to make us compete in the premier league beens europe 1 question do you actually wanna see us win the champions league or premier league ? or do you not watch he 1st team only local lads in the reserves and academy
Well to start with i did say he is almost 29. Of course i watch the 1st team i have done for 15 years and of course i want us to win on all fronts. Van Persie doesn't win you the CL. We lost out on GD and a lot of people seem to jump to the conclusion that we need to score more goals. That may well be the case but I actually think scoring 89 goals is a magnificent achievement. Our downfall was a defense which was decimated by injury and because our captain was missing. Against Barca twice our downfall was defensive frailties and getting dominated in midfield. Of course Van Persie would immediately improve our striker force I am not saying Welbeck is world class i am just saying he is constantly developing in the team and always getting better and at 21 for me he had a great season. Signing Van Persie doesn't provide Welbeck competition it pretty much renders him a benchwarmer which for me totally defies the clubs youth development.

van Persie wouldd be a great signing for us. Remember people, we lost the league on goal difference and i'd be pretty sure we wouldn't lose it for that reason again with RVP/Rooney upfront.
