Again he is a player who is inclined to be out a lot with Injuries..............But if he could stay fit he is one of the best strikers in the premiership...........But I would go for Lewandowski myself ... .......IMO
Fair enough - can see his qualities now in a younger Van Persie. Interesting to see how Lewandowski developes.

Sir Alex wants him, thats good enough for me.

We have tried to sign him in the past, now that RVP is available it gives us a great opportunity to bring him in. Quality player no doubt about it EPL experience, Goalscorer etc and his quality and technique should help Chica, Welbeck, Keane develop their abilities.

sir alex also wanted bebe mate. look there is no doubting his quality but hes not going to reproduce the season he had last season here and will hinder welbeck, who actually has the potential to be a top striker, and hernandez is only 23/24 and so is still young although i dont think he can improve much, his game is poaching but hes a 20 goal a season striker. soon so will welbeck. plus we have kagawa who surely wont play centre mid so we will use 4-4-1-1 so only 1 of rooney hernandez or welbeck can get in if we use kagawa a lot.
I'd rather we'd stick with what we have then waste 30m on Lucas and 20m on RVP but Sir Alex wants them so not much to argue about.

Welbeck will compete, SAF stated that he wants 20 goals from him so he is going to play, it will be Hernandez that suffers more than anyone, I can't see where we will fit in all these players but he is a man with a plan.

Van Persie is the finished article. Top class. He would not hinder the other strikers development because if they've got that natural quality that evolves into class, then that will force them into the equation (think Nicky Butt forcing his way in when we had Keane and Ince).

Macheda and Hernandez will never reach Van Persies level, watching how they try to recieve a pass and theie control of the ball and what they actually achieve with the ball is a clue. If anything training with Van Persie every day can only inspire.

He is Class. Wellbeck and Chicha still need Developement yes, thats why we will sign Robin for 20+ mill but he will be superb for us in next 3 years helping us win trophies. Chich and Welbs can learn from him. And in the future take over... Better than signing Lweandowski whos young and will be expensive and will want 1st team football for the next 10 years, A good option yes but this will hinder Welbs n chicha's developement where as Van Persie will not.

Whilst I wouldn't say we need him, i'd say it looks more like a 'short-term' fix to ensure some success next season.

I agree actually. He's had one good season, he's injury prone and 30 in less than a year. Also he'd hinder the development of strikers who could well be better than him. That money should be invested elsewhere no doubt.
It's so simple to be wise; think of something stupid to say and don't say it

There is no doubt the R.V.P is a world class player and we would benefit from having him and I also believe Hernandz would benefit too, he will learn alot from him BUT I really don't think he is worth the £25+million and the £220k p.w wages.

    why do we want/need rvp?

he is 29 years old, the gooners want 20+ mil for him, plus if we get him it will limit kagawa, welbecks. chicas game time as rooney pratically is nailed on the team sheet. he has had 1 good season at his club, like berbatov. he will soon lose any pace he has and woint suit our style of play and will lose 15 million on him, he apparently wants the same wages as rooney. im not saying he wont improve us for a season but we dont need him. we havnt got a scholes replacement, we havnt got a giggs replacement and we havnt got an evra replacement, these should be the priorities. moura will be a star for the future but 30mil+ is a lot of money, and i still feel nuri sahin for 10 million would be a great signing for midfield, him and cleverley could be awesome in centre midfield, especially since we lost pogba i reckon we need a central mid. in a few years we wont have giggs or scholes to call upon and this is a huge problem to fill so we need to get it sorted soon. if there really is another 40 mil to spend i say 30 mil for moura and 10 mil for sahin and thats a good summer
