It might work on FIFA or Pro Evo but not in real life because chelsea tried it with ancelotti when cole was basically their winger and after a few months he realised teams were ripping them down the wings and so went back to 4-3-3 type formation

Mate....do you think i care what you think...if your comparing computer AI to formations in the real world you have to rethink your arguements. No one plays diamond formation??? are you not familiar with the most successful Ajax team. FYI, SAF has played diamond formation in days gone by...I wasn't suggesting Nani or Valencia play central midfield. If you read all the post before hand you might have an idea about what has been suggested by myself. But hey your welcome to jump on the band wagon matey....I can careless but at least have a sound argument without resulting to the whole....might work on fifa? this is not football manager no one is suggesting it was mate.

To be honest i think even if we do end up signing RVP i don't think it will be enough as i feel Chelsea will be our strongest rivals next season and they have reinforced their midfield very well as it seems to me they intend to play more through the midfield dominantly next season, so i think we do need to sign another midfielder and possibly leighton baines as the new left back, sometimes when not sure it is better to be on the safe side to have extra reinforcements just incase the worst could happen.

cheers man, glad not everyone on here is so closed minded... Valencia will definitely play cm at some point so will Kagawa....SAF loves experimenting with the team options. nobody even considered playing valencia RB but SAF did so why not CM.

The difference is Valencia never played RB before SAF played him at RB but he has played CM before so it wouldn't be anything new for him

I think SAF will try and play Valencia and maybe Anderson together to see what develops from that... obviously he will try play Valencia wide right when we need more direct attacks against a weak fullback as he was devasting last season..I cant sing enough praises about Valencia he is one of the best wingers in the world in my opinion.

Why do people keep putting kagawa in central mid! He cant play there and if he did he would keep going forward and we would get rinsed at the back! If we get RVP then i can see Utd playing formation like below where we choose between valencia and nani for right wing, rooney and kagawa can swap and also RVP and Rooney can swap so alot of movement:

Good team pal... I just think we are a bit vunerable to the counter when both carrick and scholes play..As for Kagawa I think he has shown that he is stronger around the middle of the park especially when with scholes. Would be interesting to see how he fares tonight against the kings of football barca. Also how quickly he can strike up a partnership with rooney. For me he looks strong and has good close inter-linking passing and would be a must try behind the front two.

It does seem that RVP is close. I am not counting my chickens or getting my hopes up. It looks promising rather than likely.

A few stories have come out today and also journalists have started to make some noise over the last hour or so.

Maybe when SAF said that he expects "1 or 2 more players to sign, more than likely 1", he felt tha RVP was likely, whereas Lucas wasn't. Anyway, watch this space where RVP is concerned
