Hey guys, I've refrained from coming on here the last week or so, no posting or anything simply because it has become far too intense with this whole Lucas scenario, he's coming, he's not coming etc. I had spent a lot of time on the Lucas thread and it started getting very nasty and TS as a whole is just getting a breeding ground for horrible people who only come on there to abuse other people for their opinion, I had to come on today though just to see the backlash of people claiming this is the end of us as we have what appears to have missed out on Lucas.
I am a red, always have been, always will be, just like my dad and his dad etc. I love this club, I know when we need something and I know when we don't, I know we have been spoilt these last 25 years and I know where we used to be. I am not one to call someone a hater for saying we need to invest in certain areas and I am not someone who has red tinted glasses on thinking we are the greatest team alive and our name alone should be enough to get people to come to our club.
Let me explain what this is about, Lucas Moura is not the be all and end all of this club, they said in the early 90's you cannot win things with kids, they said we would never knock Liverpool off our perch, they said when Cantona left, that was the spell of the end, they said when Arsenal went unbeatable, that was the end, they said when Beckham left, Ronaldo left, RVN, Keane etc etc etc. The fact is, over the years, players come and go, some don't even make it through the front door, we still will be the biggest club on the planet and that cannot change just from missing out on Lucas, I personally would prefer us to control our spending now and not bow down to ridiculous agent fees so that when the FFP comes in, we are completely set and you cannot say it is not a factor, how else can you explain City have bought in NO ONE, since the start of the transfer window and you can't say they don't need to, they need a CM, another attacking mid and definitely another CB, they definitely need people but FFP is restricting them, they have to sell first.
What a lot of people have to remember now is, we are a business, not just a football team, we're a brand, an icon, a symbol all round the world, we have 650 million fans and we have to do what is best for the company as well as what is best for the football team, if we spent outlandish money on players all the time, every man and his dog who thought they could squeeze loads of money out of us every transfer would do so, us making a stand now shows that we are not going to be bullied in the transfer market, if a player wants to play for this club then they should do what they can to show us they want to be here, it should never be the other way around. Yes we will miss out on some targets this way and I'm not denying the fact that under the Glazers we MAY be slightly restricted in terms of this but whenever SAF has asked for money, the Glazers have produced (£20m anderson, £30m Berbabtov), now, I'm not making this a debate about the Glazers or our transfer policy as I will just ignore those comments, what I am trying to show you is, we are still Manchester United and a lot of people have forgot where we have come from, they think this success will last forever, football works in cycles, we have had a long, long success cycle and if we have to battle it out for 2nd/3rd/4th place for the next few years, I am prepared to do that.
A lot of people here think being content with us not winning things or being 3rd/4th means that makes you less of a supporter, I will tell you now, it certainly does not, it makes me a realist and I will love this club until the day I die, be it, in the EPL, Championship, League 1 or 2... It doesn't matter, success is not what made me fall in love with this club, it's the history, it's the prestige, it is everything about Manchester United that made me love Manchester United, there is no reason to panic when it comes to transfers, like I said, you win some, you lose some, there is always a plan b, c, d and even e, if we need to invest, then SAF will invest, you have to just believe what he says because no matter what anyone here thinks, no one knows the full story and to come here and slate the man that has given a lot of you EVERYTHING in terms of success for this club, is flat out disrespectful, what alot of you have to ask yourselfs is this, if we were 8th in the league every year from here on in, would you still love this club? I know what my answer would be, but the way some of you are acting, you just cannot wait for a fall so you can complain about this club, alot of you who are complaining aren't even from Manchester or even this country but as a supporter, it gives you a right to voice your oppinion, just remember our past before you worry about our future and think, if it goes back to where we were, getting relegated on the final day of the season by City, who would stick around long enough to see us come back up? I bet it wouldn't even be half of you lot.
Please think, before you come on here disrespecting the greatest manager to ever live just because we missed out on a few targets, life is not all black and white and neither is transfers, just be patient, there is still 3 weeks before the end of the window, please just remember who got us in a position to even be talking about these kinds of names coming to this club and just have a bit more respect when talking about the club that I love.
Come Rain or Shine I'm A Red Til I Die
