Re: What's the actual difference between 4-4-1-1 and 4-2-3-1?

    Differences:

    4-4-1-1

Centre midfielders capable of going forward and defending

    Play with second striker

    Use wingers

    4-2-3-1

Defensive midfielders focus more on defending leaving attacking midfielders to do the creative work.

3 attacking midfielders. Like to roam.

    Play through middle

Full back/Wing Backs give the width

    Rooney10Cam:
Could Kagawa play as the "second striker"?
    Yes.
    Rooney10Cam:
    Whats the big difference??
Not a massive difference, to be fair.

The differences I notice on normal tactics is that right footed players play as LAM and Left footed players as RAM in 4-2-3-1. In 4-4-1-1 Its just that the wingers are more out wide and the second striker tends to pass more. So why are we wondering if we're to use 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1? Could Kagawa play as the "second striker"? Is Rooney a good CAM? I personally think these questions bother someone else but me. Whats the big difference??
The play is based more on wingers so the way the team play is a lot more stretched then a team who play 4-2-3-1.
To play through center players require very good ball control. That is why smaller teams play with wingers as players will lose the ball playing through center. Teams with good players play using attacking midfielders.

Re: I think 3-4-1-2 formation suit our squad best

Lol that wouldnt work theres no protection for the defence u need a good CMD to play that formation and u need 2 wing backs who can defend aswell as attack Valencia would work there but not young we would get torn apart every week if we played that team
    techjuan:

Sanlee78, I like your formation. But if I was going for an attacking formation I would do something like this. (1-2-1-3-3-)

    -----------------------Hernandez---------

    ----------Van Persie----------------Rooney---------

    -----------------------Kawaga---------

    ----------Young--------------Cleverley------------Valencia---------

    ----------Evans ------------- Vidic ------------- Smalling---------

    -----------------------De Gea---------

This would be the mother of all attacking forces in the PL. The defencive formation I need to think about.

    Have a nice day.

The premier league is not designed for this formation to be successful , you may get way with it in SERIE A or the portuguese league or even against certain opposition in LA LIGA as a real or barca of course, but it will be utterly detrimental in the premier league. You have teams that play 5 in the middle and are willing to utilise the wing and make the pitch bigger to assert themselves in a game, so it will not work. Back four always.
General-K. It could work if the wingers cover the flanks, then the back line becames 5.

    Re: Is 4-1-2-1-2 an option?

    4-2-3-1 is another balanced option:

    .................De gea................

    Rafael...Rio..........Vidic...Evra

    ............Cleverley....Carrick.....

    Valencia.....Rooney.......Nani

    ....................RVP..................

Obviously personnel can be changed but I think that formation gives sufficient attention to both attack and defence. Another one to try is a 4-3-3:

    .................De gea................

    Rafael...Rio..........Vidic...Evra

    Valencia...Carrick......Cleverley...

    Nani...........RVP.......Rooney

This is referring back to the Ronaldo-Tevez-Rooney partnership where all the forwards were fluid and could exchange positions at ease. Again personnel can be altered and several different combinations can be played.

    Re: 3 at the back?

I dont like three at the back. United are so successful becasue of our wing backs. Evra and Rafael join the attack all the time. I can see city changing and giving up on there 3 at the back. I bet they will concede a lot or change when they play good teams in Europe.

Rooney , Kagawa & RVP will exchange their positions through out the game.

    this looks fair enough too..
That is a great line up would love to see that.
Yes, best line up......Maybe Scholes to start and bring Cleverley on after 60 minutes, when Scholes tires.......

Our defensive records isn't that good & you want to play 3 at the back & Valencia as a right back ? we'll get hammered.

Thats a good line up mate but i would play Cleverley alongside Carrick with Kagawa playing in front of them with Valencia and Rooney playing behind Van Persie.Full of pace fluency skill etc that would be amazing plus we have Carrick and Cleverley controlling the midfield.
    you meant this dude??

Yeah summit like that mate or play Kagawa wide with Rooney behind Van Persie.
