Re: Post match thoughts on today

We are winning yes and i would take that rather than not win. But in all truth we are not a top side. We are top because we are in a league whose standards have dropped. We have so much room for improvement but to me it seems that we are comfortable with the way we are because our dominance in England doesn't look threatened by anyone. After being beaten by Barca in 2011 UEFA final, SAF said that Barca have raised the bar and that they are the team whose level every team should aspire to reach/surpass. It's 2013 now and I dont see how we have grown as a team. It's better for us not to meet Barca in the final and be beaten the 3rd time coz the gap between us and them has not reduced in the slightest manner since that 2011 final. They have added Fabregas, Sanchez to their squad since then. They have Tello, Alcantara and other young players from their academy coming through while we are still stuck with 40yr olds who are past it. They are a dominating force and the way they invest in new top players plus promoting their youth makes you feel they are going to dominate like forever. Well as usual, lets just continue hoping for man utd to collect another 3points and not suffer shock results like those against Norwich. Hope Kagawa gets back, and players like Cleverley, Ando, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Welbeck, Buttner continue to step up their game then we can start looking like Real champions whom everyone feels intimidated to face like the united of old.

I think the first hour we were amazing, possably playing the best football of the season yet.The movement passing interchanging 1-2 touch passing was great to watch. We were abit careless with our finishing at times as Rooney wasted 2-3 great chances when he should have done better he could have had a hat trick while Evra miseed a good oppertunity aswell. All in all though it was a great game from us gut for the last 20 mins or so we took our foot off the gas and allowed the, to come at us and have a few oppertunities which De Gea did well with otherwise like SAF said would have been embrassing for us.If we thrown that game away i would have commited suicide lol.All we have to do is keep on winning games take each game as it comes and win simple as that.

eased off the gas for me,should have been an embarrasment, they grew in stature no question,,3 points tho, nice one boys!!....
Agree with this, we should have had a number of goals. it was good on the back of last weeks game that we increased our momentum and played with some style. Also good to see City have Kompany out, yaYa Toure going to African Nations Cup in Jan. Nasri looked as though he had nasty injury. All good
yeah has to be the only complaint, we where epici in first half, really great stuff, but just got to complacent in the second half when we could of done with a solid 90min quality perfomance as we an't produced many of those this season

still great first half, some really nice football!!
Didn't think I'd be saying this but today I can hold up my hands and say that Carrick made the difference, he was enormous in the first half and totally controlled midfield. His absence in the secondhalf showed.

Re: Post match thoughts on today

The first hour was like watching United of a few seasons ago. I'm far from Carricks greatest fan but for me in the first half he was my motm, thought that Smalling had a good game, Jones with a bit of discipline could be a great signing, Rooney as normal was all over the pitch, RVP always has a goal in him, Young is starting to pick up his game and I thought that Cleverley had a good game although the whole team had a quiet second half.

But like always with us there's negatives although today there was a lot more plus's. Once Scholes and Giggs came on we all knew our attacking play would suffer and that we would be more vulnerable at the back which is exactly what happened in the second half, I'm a great fan of Valencia but this season his performances haven't been up to his usual standards. He had many chances to take his man on or get the ball into the box but a lot of the time he didn't do either. He actually slowed our play down today which is something I didn't think I would say.

All in all a good performance today, there's signs that its starting to come together. OK, it was against Sunderland but we have struggled a lot this season against this sort of opposition but one thing is clear, it has to be Scholars and Giggs's last season. When we sign a midfielder(s) I can see us once again being a team to be feared throughout Europe but at the minute we are just too lightweight.

Great performance first half, fantastic movement, top notch passing and we caused all sorts of problems, Young again proving he can be effective, thought he might of gone down when he got in the area but swivelled to set up the first goal. Second half we stepped off the gas when we should have added to our tally.

Cleverley is improving every match, adding goals to his games is a bonus and I think we are seeing the best of Carrick alongside him too, good to see us sticking with a similar team hopefully we can now have a consistent line up and gain more momentum. Jonesy was brilliant at right back, still unsure which is his best position, Vidic coming back will be a boost and hopefully Kagawa will be soon to follow.

This is the time we really need to kick on and move up the gears.

Totally agree, we could have scored a dozen today. Thought Carrick played well untill taken off. All the team played well. Momentum eased after making substitutions, but pleased with the way we played. Give credit to Young as well as he has had a lot of bad posts but has played well in last 2 games
