Any chance you can move this to FANZONE.... It will get a lot more exposure from our overseas fans and I personally think it fits with the forum.. If you just add the words WHO-WHEN- WHAT it then becomes a quiz and can stay in fanzone.................great thread...

Just to add to the records, I would like to point out that George Best scored 6 goals in a match against Northampton Town. That was back in the sixties when Northampton Town were in Div I of the English League.

    Cheer Pepe

you are right but it was in the fa cup I though I had put that one in

    I have made these updates

    Most goals in a game
6 Harold Halse vs swindon town in charity shield
6 George Best vs Northampton Town in FA Cup

most league goals in a game
5 Andy Cole vs Ipswich Town

    Most Appearences
    817 Ryan Giggs

    Hi robi!

I saw this thread drifting towards the end, so I thought I'd rather do something before it gets removed.

Just to add to the records, I would like to point out that George Best scored 6 goals in a match against Northampton Town. That was back in the sixties when Northampton Town were in Div I of the English League.

I can't recall of any other Manchester United player who has scored more than 6 goals in a single match.

    Cheers!

To think that Denis Law still holds the record for the most goals scored in a season

    Most goals in a season

    46 Denis Law 1963-1964

Not even Ronaldo could beat that.

bobby Charlton is a legend as well thats a crazy total amount of goals.

    Most Overall goals

    249 Bobby Charlton

Giggs is just the best though so many apperances and so many medals and awards.

It's interesting to compare our stadium attendances from the past to the present. You would think it was wierd that we had more back then but then you remember health and safety and the fact that you have to have seats these days etc. Still remarkable.

If only Munich hadn't happened, im sure Duncan would be up there somewhere.

dont forget our stadium is about the biggest it has ever been when we had over 80000 watch it was at maine road because of teh bombing at old trafford so it was classed as a home game although we were playing on a different ground

    robi !

Your quote: [Oldest First Team appearence

Billy Meretith 46 years +281 days vs Derby County 7 May 1921]

Ryan Giggs is one of my all-time Manchester United favourites. He is setting all kinds of records.

I doubt if he can break Billy Meredith's ?

    Cheers!

A post like this can only be altered when the records are broken. Other than that it must remain in here as long as the web site exists.

Very true, Pepe....We posters have to take the responsibility to keep this thread running.....It is a rare gem....
