Re: Give up your corporate box. We are a team built on a die hard attitude

yep, i said it on another thread aswell.

i dont usually choose to critisize the home fans, usually you can put it down to the size of the ground and noise escaping but today i couldnt even put it down to that.

it was verging on embarrassing for practically 90 minutes, possibly the last 10 minutes it piped up a bit.

ridiculous, im sorry.. but there was nothing, no wonder the lads seemed disheartened, the crowd did nothing for them until we scored the 2nd?

we all say we're the best fans in england/europe.. i can say.. our away fans have proved themselves, and we know old trafford was, and usually is a fortress, louder than most prem stadiums combined. but the home fans are doing NOTHING lately to prove themselves. we're just going to continue to get more and more stick until united realise that more tickets need to be given to actual fans instead of the prawn sandwich brigade, and the fans who DO get a ticket realise they cant just sit there until we're in a decent position and then sing.. we need it right from the off until the final whistle. as much as i hate to say it, anfield has actually sounded better than OT in the last few weeks. something we HAVE to rectify. and fast.

i may get slated for that, but im sorry.. its something you cannot deny tonight. and if you do, your kidding yourselves. however, credit to those who did actually sing tonight, even if it wasnt enough to get you heard for most of the night on television. we just need people to get over themselves and just SING! unlesss your in the south stand, chances are a lot more will join in Wink

thats my negativity for the night, over! other than that, even if our performance was slightly lacking in tricks and wonderful goals and spectacular tackles, we didnt give up. and i commend the lads for that.

Give up your corporate box. We are a team built on a die hard attitude

Did Roy Keane not mention "the prawn sanwiches"?

i think it here for all of us to see. There is 13 minutes left and we are 3-1 down at home. I cant even hear United fans on the tele.

Granted i am at home on my couch but i truly believe that if our fans are there for the football, history and glory of Manchester United we would hear them

I have mentioned this before and here it is for all to see

do u actually go to games???

    me or 4-4-2?

if you're asking me,i try and get trains to manchester for games and at the minute with uni,i'm looking for spares of mates of SEF really, ideally a northern game away at bolton or blackburn or somewhere in the middle. That being said if the timing is right,i'll gladly make my way to pompey for a night out with the united away lads.

    4-4-2:
so why are they not making "noise"?

because unless they're in two or three sections the chances of them being the lone stander in a group are quite high and therefore more noticable to our stewards!

why do i have to keep arguing this, only when most of the stadium apart from 8,000 or so are allowed to stand is the atmosphere improved, why? Because when everyone stands, those who are nervous and singled out against blackburn aren't noticed or cared about by the stewards when everyone around them is standing. So many areas against City were full of standers than is usual in those areas and the atmosphere was much improved!

EDIT-thanks to the Holy Trinity for merging these two identical threads together! Nice to see some pro-active taking around here and long may it continue!

I am a united season ticket holder who sits in second tier of the north stand and have found the atmosphere inside OT all this season (part from city) has been dreadful!

No atmosphere what so ever i hear singing for 5 mins after we have scored then it goes quite again its just terrible getting outsung by 4,000 fans in a small corner of the stadium i mean how can 4,000 outsing 75,000 really is bad if you think about it!

Il give you fans in the stretford end your dew you are trying to get everyone going but mostly with no effect.

All proper die hard fans (excluding glory hunters and fans who pack there prawn sandwiches) we want our team back and our speical OT atmosphere from you lot located in the brackets !!!!!

Its not too much to ask for a bit more noise :)

Give up blaming the prawn sandwich bunch. From my knowledge of OT the hospitality lot make up only about 10% of the crowd so that is around 7000.  So that means that over 60,000 are"proper fans".....so why are they not making "noise"?

Re: Home fans this season have been really dissappointing!!!!

well they're obviously not out-singing the 70,000 are they, they're making more noise than the small number of united fans trying to get an atmosphere going! Listen our fans are too easily separated from one another (the singers i mean) where as all visiting away fans are grouped together and consequently the noise flows better.

are main singers are in the roofs and so most of their noise is kept in the stand instead of escaping onto the pitch and that gives the impression that the atmosphere in the stretty is lacking when it may in fact be much louder. We need the Stretty,East Tier 1 and half of 2 with some parts of K and J Stand as official singing sections, move the corporates to the heavens in North for a better view and get the singers closer to the pitch where their noise will be heard more! Its no use having our singers in Tiers two and three of the stretty and north is it?

For the record bar Liverpool away (thanks to bloody trippers getting most of the tickets) united have comfortably outsung the home support at away games just as most away fans have comfortably out-sung the home support in most premier league games. Why? Simple, more singers grouped together, stewards not bothering trying to move them whereas the home support being much bigger and wider is easier to separate and spot lone standers and eject them. If fans were actually given the option to stand or sit then atmospheres across england would improve,it staggers me how people reckon OT is the only ground in the premier league that lacks atmosphere. Ask any fan of any club and the vast majority will say they would rather go to away games for atmosphere than at home, its just so much easier to stand away from home without trouble than at home!

side note:can we please get a sticky thread on this matter done up? Its getting ridiculous the amount of new threads cropping up on the same subject with the same debates always occurring!

Re: Is the old trafford atmosphere becoming flat???

There used to be a group called Vocal Fans Campaign that tried to organise all singing fans together in the Stretford End. They worked with the club to move supporters from quiet areas who wanted to sing into the Stretford End and vice versa with those in the Stretford End who didn't want to sing..

They even got support from Gary Neville.  Not sure what happened but it slowly fizzled out.  I don't think the club were willing to help as much.

Re: Is the old trafford atmosphere becoming flat???

there was more atmosphere in my living room than at OT against blackburn. and no one was in my living room as i was at the pub. through the tele that was the worst atmosphere i have ever heard at OT. i thought somebody had died and a funeral service had taken place.

it baffles me as to how we have the worst home support in the league, yet the best away support by a country distance.

I really think we should set up a group and take the issue to the people in charge, get a well organised campaign going and take it to the people in charge. Get more singing sections set up, hand out song sheets, even perusade them to lower ticket prices (it won't happen I know but surely it's worth a good go?).

I think that if enough people get behind this we could see a change.

I sat with my mate in the executive area for the blackburn game, as it was only £10. Anyway, we were the only two people singing out of the whole section, it made me laugh, i heard some people who didnt know the players names !!!! WTF !!! During a song like, 'stand up for the champions' we were the only two standing up in the whole section, despite our encouragement, the still refused to stand. I thought it was rather funny ! It may be a quality view, but i would rather sit somewhere else and be around fans who actually sing !!

It's got to be down to rivalry i think. Saying that like i said before the City game was flat, that puzzled me!!!

I went to both the arsenal game and the city game, and i thought the city atmosphere was easily better (I sit in the east stand, near the away fans) I agree about the so called less important games though, the atmosphere at sunderland and blackburn was fairly flat.

Re: Is the old trafford atmosphere becoming flat???

I am Moe. I am an Arab from Dubai and I visit The Republic of Mancunia as much as possible. last time i was there was for the "Big" weekend of United vs Inter and United vs Liverpool. My mate managed to get us tier one tickets at the north stand! grrreeaat seats!!! bullocks atmosphere... everytime i would start singing i would get the occasional corner of the eye look from a lady or a corporate looking person ... it was very uncomfortable for me. the stewards were very nice to us, they didnt cause us any problems, it was just the people around me. it wasnt until the second half of the inter match that some of the people around me loosend up. however leaving the stadium was a pretty wierd experience, i mean here we are, Man United, champions of england, champions of europe back then, we just beat jose mourinhos inter milan and everyone walked out so silently.

the liverpool match was an experience i will NEVER forget, we taunted each other, tons of banter, we lost to the murderers but still, we kept singing and the scummers never understood why we were still singing! after the match everyone was still singing United chants and anti-scouse chants ... it was exactly what i was looking for, i enjoy that "hostile" chanting atmosphere.

from my previous experiences i know that next time i will be seated in either east stand tier 3 or stretty end tier 2. tier 3 from the north stand were unbvelievable too.

the point of our discussion is how to make Old trafford a louder ground, well its quite simple ... set standards, spread the chants and enforce them on everyone. teach the all seaters to know on when to sit and when to stand. in dubai, we sing united chants every match day. we are always keen on knowing any chant updates. we help teach each other over the chants as well as design banners or flags. Spread Flags, Spread Scarves, i mean if youre not going to be wearing a united shirt then wear a scarf or at least respect the traditional colors of the club (Red, White and Black as well as the european Blue)

i will be attending the liverpool match on the 20th march. and i will be contributing to the hostility towards our dirty north westerns neighbors.
