sapper1 !
I do apologise for not having been able to complete my earlier post in reply to your previous post. As much as this should not turn into a hot debate, I do agree with you that facts must stand as facts.
Denis Law played for Manchester City, went to Torino, came to Manchester United and went back to Manchester City.
Casper626 must have got the ' Eastlands' information from some source and again he must be referring to Manchester City, because later on in his post, he clearly quoted that: ' He (Denis Law) later decided to retire because the manager of City said he would only play for the reserves if he stayed.'
It again proves that Casper was referring to Manchester City when making mention of 'Eastlands' and which I emphasise must be geographically situated East of Old Trafford. It has nothing to do with George Best playing for North Road.
Why I brought up Denis Law's retirement issue, was because you made mention of you being present at the grounds on that day while Casper 626 got his information from Wikipedia.
Casper626 is 13 years old. He couldn't have been at the stadium on that day. He must have got his referrences from magazines, books or the internet.
Again Casper626 may be right. Just consider Alex Ferguson telling Ryan Giggs: ' If you want to stay at the club, from now on, you're only going to play for the reserves.'
I'm sure Ryan Giggs will start packing his bags straight away.
Referring to Casper626's quote, this is what Denis Law could have resorted to after having been told to play in the reserves.
Denis Law didn't kick a ball for Manchester City after scoring against Manchester United, does not justify Denis Law's retirement from football on that night. Denis could have felt miserable after his famous/infamous goal, but he might still have gone for training with Manchester City. He might have been off form and most probably that could have been the reason why the manager told him to play in the reserves. May be Denis Law didn't want that and he hung up his boots. After all he was almost 38 years old and at this age even a great player like Denis Law might have found it hard to perform to the best of his abilities.
No hard feelings.
Cheers !
