    Re: obertan WAS DISSAPOINTING

No he was not dissapointing, so he missed a shot on goal, the lad shows real promise, good vision and a strong character he will mature with time into a great footballer (kinda reminds me of a very young Thierry Henry), but it was people like you that ripped shreads of Darren Fletcher and now most love to see him in the line up, don't judge anything on one game or even one season give time SAF knows what he is doing he's been very successful at it over the years or had you not noticed.

not trying to tell the mods what to do and what not to do, as they know better than me, but i can only assume none of them have seen this thread yet. if so im sure it will be moved.

Yeah, he was disappointing. I know he isn't as good as Ronaldo now but he isn't as good as Ronaldo when the latter played his first match. He's come in in 2 professional matches so far and I have yet to see something really good from him.

Ahh very positive post as usual (of course) from Gabby Smile

Not the greatest of debut but it wasn't bad either.

Obertan did very well imo. Apart from the miss he did exceptionally well. I agreed with someone who posted earlier that he seemed to hit quite an unbelievable understanding with players around him notably Evra, Ando & Rooney.

He will be one to watch in the coming days..definitely has GREAT potential and  good physique..altho' I think he'll need to put a few extra weights to his slender frame.

Just by the way the thread is titled and scripted you know its going to be a stupid point! Obertan has made one app....And it wasn't even disapointing, he missed one chance, yet so did Berbatov and Rooney, maybe not as easy but you can't say he's dissapointing because of that. Out of our young players, he shows more promise than Anderson

He is very fast...that's why the rest couldn't catch up with him...definitely alot of fantastic potential...needs more exposure as he seemed over excited with his two chances.

There is only one thing missing here, and its MANUTDGHANA's knowledge of football.

    Re: obertan WAS DISSAPOINTING

Can we please stop comparing every winger to Ronaldo? It's the modern day equivalent of the "next George Best" syndrome. Obertan is quick, has a good physique, very good technique, two footed, intelligent  (judging by his interview replies), his decision making looks good (fergie's favourite asset) and he got into those positions on his debut in front of 70,000. He linked play up well, too. Michael Owen missed from ten yards as well, by the way.

He will need what every flank player needs to succeed- a supporting full back. It's no coincidence Ronaldo had his best season when Wes Brown played virtually every game, getting up to support him. I'm confident he'll do well on the left, with either Evra or Da Silva behind him. AND he looks quick enough to be a threat down the middle.

Letr's big him up and give him a chance.
